Not a lot to see here. Run down buildings and bug bodies sticking out of the ground. Cool place to stop and check out

I love Amarillo’s public art. It is always done with humor and encourages interaction. Every time we pass through Amarillo we stop to see one of their many installations. Cadillac Ranch(I40, Exit 60) was the first of its kind, and for that reason, will always remain my favorite, but the VW Bug Slug and the Giant Pair Legs(I27 and Sundown Lane) are worth visits too. I would warn, however, with the VW Bug Slug that the building next to it clearly sees regular drug activity so not a place I would visit if the sun isn’t high.

It is about 20 miles outside of downtown Amarillo, in the City of Conway, towards OKC It is not in as a good shape as Cadillac Ranch, but there are less people and it is different surroundings, including a abandon gas station. I would recommend it. Helpful Tip: in your GPS, just map to Conway, as soon as your exit highway 40(I think it is exit 90), you will see it

March, 2007, we’re filming a cross-country/buddy/road-trip/docu-dramedy in a 1972VW bus, & we hear that there’s a Volkswagen answer to the Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo… MUSTGO! Route 66 is ALL about roadside attractions. Oddities you’ll never see anywhere else. The Bug Ranch is just that. Totally worth the little excursion off the Route. But does anyone have the info on who owns it? I’d like to get in touch w/them. BTW, the documentary is ;)

Ever wanted to spray-paint cars? …Legally? Then this is your place. It consists of a few Beatles buried nose-first in the ground. No bathrooms, no food, just rusty cars. Simple, yet awesome. Bring your own spraypaint, and PLEASE take the cans with you when you’re done.

It’s like the Cadillac Ranch just down the road in Amarillo, except with old VW Beatles. Basically, someone stripped down about 10 or 15 Beatles to their steel cage & buried them in the dirt. They’re sticking out of the ground at a 45 degree angle & covered in graffiti. File this one under«Bizarre Roadside Attractions». And also under«Awesome».
