Closed the doors. Too bad, best food in town but by the time they hired good help it was too late.

The service is just consistently terrible. The food is okay although half of it was cold when eventually brought out. There is something intrinsically wrong with this place.

Ive never taken the time to write a review for a restaurant, But this place was INCREDIBLE!!! One of my best dinning experiences ever. I had a California role and the basil chicken. My Girl had a rainbow roll, and the 3 hand rolls. Service was like I ‘ve never seen. Food was the BEST! You can tell your eating real Quality food(the veges were so flavorful, and the chicken so lean. Not to mention The stickiness and texture of the rice used for the rolls. Atmosphere A++++++. OMG! Bathrooms, really Im commenting on bathrooms, Try them! Did I mention Crème brulae was complimentary? Im coming back to Amarillo texas just for this place!

Went here while visiting my parents. Went in skeptical of sushi in Amarillo, but his place served really good sushi and food. The Drinks were also very good. Great atmosphere. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Amarillo or living there. A nice change from all the steakhouses that are all over.

Service was good, but the place was about empty. The food was just not good. Tempura chicken was soggy. Beautiful décor but the food is not its equal.

Calm and Serene atmosphere. The wait staff was cheerful, the door was opened for us upon arrival, we were seated immediately. Our polite waitress was right over with water, the dinner menu, and the tapas menu. The sushi was fresh, beautifully presented, and came out very quickly. The restrooms were beautifully appointed as well, on top of that the bill was reasonable — under 30 $ for two at the sushi bar. Would come again!

Amazing atmosphere very fresh sushi my girl and i had the dragon roll and spicy tuna and wok fried green beans. They where all very tasty the green beans had a sweet sauce, almost like the sauce on General Taos. We had dessert molten lava cake with coffee ice cream. Seriously blew my mind ! Freeking amazing! I would have given a five star but the servers and manager were hovering uncomfortably like hard core and when the waiter put the check on the table he opened it up and showed me the bill it was weird. But food made up for the weird ness I would deff go back.

We had a nice time and will visit again, but had trouble with our order. One entrée was fabulous !!! While initially slow, the wait staff became more attentive. Great atmosphere!!!

Great food and great service. Very classy place, decorated like a very expensive restaurant yet the prices were very affordable. The wait staff was excellent and the food was even better. If I ever went back to Amarillo Texas, I would certainly return to Kushi Yama.

Clean and great food, for Amarillo, pretty decent upscale. The response to our large group was great… took care of us.

Our first visit a few weeks ago will also be our last. The food was decent, typical Asian food. The interior is very nice with a water wall that’s nice to look at. Our main problem was the terrible service. Our waitress came to our table to drop off drinks, our entrées and then disappeared. We had to wait almost 20 minutes from the time we finished eating until we received our check. I made the mistake of paying with cash and we finally had to get the hostess to hunt down our waitress so that we could get our change back and even then the hostess gave us a snotty look like we were wrong for asking for change. Definitely won’t be returning.

The price was not worth it. One roll had only 5 pieces for $ 5. It was definitely over priced and not worth it. Their entrée that we ordered was so so. Would not eat here again. On the flip side, their entrée item was great tasting without their rice.

I’m giving this 4 stars instead of three because of the ladies’ toilet. Seriously, it is from Japan, has a heated seat, front and back bidet(a stream of water cleans your er, parts) and warm air dry. I kid you not, unless you go to Tokyo you won’t have this weird sounding experience – I felt fresh as a daisy! The décor is wonderful, the staff hover, and they put ApplePucker in their sake so one star off for lack of Japanese authenticity. The lamb chop, listed under Yakitori, isn’t Yakitori – it’s a straight up small rib lamb chop –very tender and flavorful. The interior décor is great. I was there on a slow Sat. I can’t comment on the other menu items except to say there is a quite respectable sake list. I was happy.

We dined at Kushi Yama late on a Saturday evening. They weren’t busy, so the lack of service was disappointing. Anytime we wanted a drink refill we had to ask(and we had a ‘team’ of two servers), and our green bean appetizer came after our meal. The food was tasty, but the service brought down the entire meal. The manager was apologetic, but someone really needs to work on the staff. Kung Pao chicken was delicious. We will be back but hope for a better experience.

Decided to try Kushi Yama with some friends of mine. The décor is very nice and the atmosphere lent to a nice dining experience to start with a full waterfall wall just outside a wall length window. Everything was going great till we actually started to order. From that point on it went downhill for me. We ordered our food bit for some reason the appetizers came out all piecemeal. Apparently the sushi guys where slower then the hot food cooks and they just couldn’t seem to coordinate their actions. When we ordered the entrees things seemed to be on pace until my two friends received their food, ate, and was totally finished and mine had not shown up. I asked the server and never got an answer. I then asked the manager who kind of got a little snippy with me. Finally after another 20 min my food arrived. Basically they blamed it on being slammed and somehow my order, on the same ticket as my friends got lost. What seemed to happen was my order was given to another table. HOWEVER. There where 6 tables and two servers so I’m sorry I don’t think they where that slammed. They tried to appease me with a couple of free deserts for the table but I really feel I should have been totally comped. Now on to the food taste. I have to say it was very very good once it finally got there. The prices are okay for what you get but still seem to be a dollar or so high. For the portion sizes for what I got which was some yellow fin tuna skewers and the Kushi Yama roll. All the food was very fresh tasting. My one friend got the pork chop and he said it was great and my other got the coconut shrimp. I would say 4 stars for the food only brought down by portion size to cost and the service was a one star affair. I might give them Another shot but who knows since I know of other places that the service and food pair up to be a great experience.

Like another reviewer, I find it hard to believe this restaurant is in Amarillo. I’ve been twice and can’t wait to go back. The décor is very nice and the waitstaff is helpful and friendly. The sushi is excellent but in my opinion, the best thing on the menu is the Yakatori Chicken Salad. Can’t even really describe it. It’s not like any salad I’ve ever had. Just go there and get it. Again, it seems like good sushi in Amarillo should be a huge oxymoron so you just have to trust me. I’m going on Saturday! And yes, the women’s bathroom is something that must be experienced!

My first time here. Have been a long time customer of Kabuki(owned by same people). Place is beautiful, but the chairs are uncomfortable. Started with the Shrimp Bird’s Nest appetizer and I was not impressed. I have had this at Thai restaurants in the past that hit it out of the park and this did not come close. My mother had the salmon and it was perfectly cooked and she loved it. She also had the Fried Rice, which I sampled. Had a wonderful Sesame OIl flavor, which we all loved! My wife had a Sashimi dish and it was good, but not great. I had the Braised Short Ribs, which was good, but again not great. It was like a very tender roast, but did not have much flavor. Our server barely came to table to check us as well.

The place is beautiful. We were one of three customers during this day’s lunch, and we asked to be sat by the window, and were told no! They said that the empty window tables(plural) were not the section being sat, which seemed silly considering the place was empty, and they sat us just one table away from the window anyway. I ordered a medium steak bento box, and they brought a rare steak on a plate instead. The food was ok. There is better asian restaurants in town. Not part of the review, but Unilocal feedback, this place is listed under«breakfast and lunch» and«good for children» and it’s neither.

This place is fantastic. I can hardly believe it’s in Amarillo and along the interstate at that. One of the owners, Rico Tayama, runs a very tight ship. All the waitstaff that we met were extremely courteous, knowledgeable and polite. The services was fast, the portions were generous but not so big that we felt we were at a buffet. The decoration of the space was fantastic and for what would typically be a strip mall the place has several very distinct area. We had wine/beer as well as a sea food salad to start. Then we moved on to a noodle dish as well as a shrimp and rice combo. Nothing but great things to say about the place. Oh and the women’s restroom is phenomenal from what I hear.

Last Friday night 5 of us decided to try Kushi Yama. It is a new ‘tapas & grill’ restuarnt by the same owners of Kabuki. Since the place recently opened, I expect a few things to still be in the ‘worked out’ stage but had no idea what was in for on this experience. First of, it is a brand new building which is nice. It has a large bar area and the dining area has elegant light fixtures and tables. Thats where the pleasant expierience ended for us. We ordered a few tapas and then each of us ordered a main course. We had a few sushi rolls and a beef satay for tapas. After 45 minutes, the tapas came out… its a good thing we weren’t starving! The beef satay literally came out with 2 pieces on the plate! I am saying pieces because thats all they were! 2 bites! The sushi wasn’t bad, wasn’t all that good either. For the main course 2 of us had Bulgolgi, 2 had braised short ribs and 1 had the sea bass. The Bulgolgi I had was so tough it was difficult to chew. It was absolutely terrible. The ones that ordered the short ribs ate maybe 3 bites and left the rest on the plate and the sea bass had no flavor. We were all beyond dissappointed. We may go back, I’ll have to hear some great reviews first!
