In a word, awesome. Tito, our waiter, was very polite and attentive. The chimichanga and Hatch green chili queso-covered chili relleno with shredded brisket were both incredible. The chips and salsa are also good.

5 stars for the hatch chile queso, everything else was good but I was not blown away. Worth a return trip

Green chilli queso… Need I say more? I’ve never had anything bad here but I could eat my weight in that queso!

We love to eat here. Our food is always hot and fresh. The one draw back is when they let Andy Chase play and sing. He is so loud you can’t have a normal conversation. The longer he plays the louder he gets. Is there anything that you can do about this problem?

Atmosphere is very nice! Service was good, food was excellent! We ate there on Saturday at lunch, business was slow, we enjoyed ourselves.

The enchiladas are pretty good here, although I wish I had tried fajitas. The service was very friendly and my order came out super fast.

Great Mexican food. The enchiladas were really good. We had a big order and everything looked delicious. I’ll be stopping by next time I’m in Amarillo again.

I have definitely had better Mexican food. The waitress was pretty much no where to be found. She was waiting tables and she was working the bar. I could tell she was very stressed so I always felt bad asking for something. At one point we ended up asking another waitress for something because we asked ours twice and she still never brought it.

The Crispy Buttermilk Relleno was delicious! And the brisket was juicy and tender. All in all I was pleasantly surprised. After reading the reviews on here I wasn’t expecting anything exceptional. But that was until we had Caleb as a server, he is amazing!!! So very pleasant and attentive!!! Got some recommendations on food and was not disappointed! I ate it all! Yes, the prices are higher than that of small, hole in the wall, family owned places, but they are not over the top either. $ 1.50 margaritas were a great addition to the meal, you can get them before 7pm, or all dinner on Thursdays. There were a couple of employees who seemed to just be standing around, but if you’ve ever worked in food service, that just happens sometimes, especially with some of the younger workers. But again, Caleb was amazing!

Foods good but over priced. The price of the food is probably the highest Mexican food in town, and one does not receive as much, nor does one receive the quality as other places. $ 5.25 for a 22 ounce domestic is highway robbery. I haven’t paid that much for a beer since I was in London. Good food. Bad prices.

Leal’s offers great Tex-Mex with menu choices ranging from enchiladas, fajitas, grilled chicken to stuffed sopapillas! The free chips and hot sauce are well worth the extra calories. I’ve been to the original Leal’s in Muleshoe and the food is translated well with the better addition of the bar in Amarillo! They used to do live music a lot of Thursday nights(I haven’t been on Thursdays in a while), which can make it difficult to hear your other tablemates but otherwise the environment is good. When you order take out you get the free chips and salsa too!

I’m not a huge fan of Mexican food personally but I would consider Leal’s to be one of the best Mexican restaurants in Amarillo. One problem I have had repeatedly is getting my order right.

Ordered the Leal’s special, food was terrible. Service was poor, too. Definitely NOT the best Mexican food in town. Try elsewhere.

Been coming to this restaurant for several years now. Used to love it, but after yesterday’s experience we will not be back. Used to think this was the best place to get Authentic mexican food but quickly has this restaurant disappointed me. I’m not sure if it’s because the owner doesn’t check in frequently or it is run by Americans. But you used to be able to enjoy great Mexican food while listening to good Mexican music. Now you will find nothing like that. Our waiter could not understand when I ordered a Modelo! The bar tender had to come back and ask what I had ordered. Twice now the food I’ve ordered had no taste. I didn’t taste the particular spices found in good Mexican cuisine. Sad and disappointed because this was our place to go to get great authentic Mexican food. I wanted to update this review due to the response we got from Mr. Leal himself. I originally listed this as a 1 star but after he personally contacted us regarding the email I had sent to him on the company website, decided to change. He apologized for the kitchen problems and he went on to write how much he appreciated our business. He also sent us out a gift card for us to make our way back to the restaurant to give it another try. We will. I wished more restaurants/businesses would take the time to «make things right» like Mr. Leal did. Impressed.

This is the best Mexican food in town! Great enchiladas & crispy rellenos! Must try the hatch queso! The rice is also excellent & great margarita’s! So if you want a great atmosphere and good food, than this is the place!

I got two dishes, and wish I went somewhere else for my last night in Amarillo. It’s a nice place, but the food is just… soso. El bracero’s is way better… I wish I went back there… mmmmmmmmmm E Bracero’s mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm(Shit hole place, awesome food!!!) If you want a party with music and all that crap, with sososososo food, do Leals, If you want good food, El Bracero’s on Bell across from the Party Stop.

I haven’t had good Mexican food in so long so I was super excited that my friends chose a Mexican restaurant. I guess I’ll have to wait for good Mexican food. Our server was very nice and pleasant. Our food tasted less than authentic. American cheese in an enchilada is usually a bad sign. One nice thing is that they give each person their own bowl of salsa. No double dipping worries. I love that. My tortilla soup was okay. Nothing special. They do serve it with tortilla chips and cheese on the side so that’s nice if you’re counting calories.
