Read the Unilocal reviews and wondered what we would find in service. We were greeted with a warm welcome as we entered and had a fantastic friendly knowledgeable waitress. She provided detail on the questions we asked and made great recommendations. The food was great. I had the fish special that was one of the better meals I have had, and my husband had the steak with crab was also pleased. The owner stopped to check on us and was quite friendly. They did a nice job creating a warm modern typical Stella/Gypsy atmosphere. It was a delightful experience and we will be happy to go back.

I’m giving this restaurant two stars because the décor looked pleasant. That being said, my friend and I didn’t stay to eat because the hostess chose to busy herself on her cell phone and ignore the people who walked in before us. They finally said something. She didn’t look up from her phone and pushed a menu towards them. Despite the fact that it was 3:00 in the afternoon, she said they must order from the dinner menu. The couple in front of us walked out and she still didn’t look up from her phone. We walked out after them. The restaurant was basically empty and as she couldn’t be bothered to greet customers, it will probably remain so.

I so want to frequent this lovely place, but every time i visit, the service is awful. There is a huge wine list and the waitresses know nothing anout the offerings. Thankfully, the bar tender usually can make a more educated suggestion. The food is hit or miss. I have had wonderful meals, but last night i had a half cooked shrimp and my daughter’s pasta was half hard.(The place wasn’t even busy). And though we both ordered the same kale and quinoa salad, mine came with a nice portion of quinoa, while my business client i was introducing to the restaurant had practically none. The waitress, so flummoxed by our questions about the huge wine list, forgot to put in our appetizer order. It is such a nice spot, and the menu is lovely. I really wish they could get the inconsistencies worked on. This is visit #5 for me and the embarrassing issues while entertaining a client may have made this my last.

Speaking on brunch alone, I am COMPLETELY satisfied. I popped some reservations for this piece after sadly being unable to find a place to go for my birthday(aka, mother’s day– I was screwed). Gypsy was the last place on the list, and being that I had never been, it was a gamble. Upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised by the look. I had no idea what I was walking into, and it has a really nice, classic energy running through. I was greeted warmly and seated promptly. The place wasn’t quite busy yet, but soon after, the people were piling in. They had a special Mother’s Day brunch menu, which had a decent lineup. I had a great server who didn’t waste time satisfying my happiness. I had ordered the steak and eggs. The food came out pretty quick and in a pretty large portion. On my plate was potatoes, sourdough toast, a big ass piece of medium steak, and two over medium eggs. The test was with the steak and honestly, it was cooked perfect. It was juicy and flavorful. I have nothing negative to say about any of it. The person I was with ordered the breakfast quesadilla, which I tried and was also pretty damn good. The end of my meal came quickly with some complimentary blue cotton candy, which I found pretty interesting. They also handed me a bag with pretzels and hershey kisses in it for mother’s day, which I thought was sweet. I would LOVE to come back here for more experience to raise up the star factor. There is also no parking lot. I noticed someone took a picture of it, but it clearly says that the VERY small lot out back is for employees only. I had no issues with street parking though and the meters in Ambler are free on Sundays.

I really wanted to like this place and give it 5 stars– and really with minimal effort they could easily have made it a better experience. We went for brunch(which ends at 2pm) and got there around 1:45.(So, to be fair, perhaps my experience had to do somewhat with timing?) I asked if we were in time for brunch and they said we were and sat us right away(we had to sit inside because all outdoor areas were taken– but it looks like a great place to dine outdoors!) the hostess was very nice as was our server. I ordered the Crème Brûlée French toast with a side of homefries and my friend got one of the Bennies(I think maybe the Philly one?) and homefries as well. They brought our drinks right out. Another server brought us our meals. My friend’s Bennie looked a good size and she had a healthy serving of home fries. On the menu, my French toast said it came with whipped cream and berries. The«berries» really amounted to literally ½ a strawberry and 4 blueberries. They didn’t bring any syrup or ask if I wanted any. I asked the young woman who brought our dishes about my homefries. She said«They’re on the way out.» 10 minutes later and they still weren’t there. My drink had also been noticeably empty but the young woman was literally talking over her shoulder to me and disappeared around the corner before I could ask. I had to ask my server when she finally showed up again and then it took another 10 minutes to get them. They were lukewarm and no ketchup. I had to ask 2 other people for ketchup and it never came. The server did take these off the bill, but never offered to send them home with me(so they were just thrown out? What a waste!) Next time maybe I’ll try take out — or try one of the other newer places instead. Like I said, nice enough people and the server seemed genuinely apologetic, so maybe they were short staffed? It didn’t seem extra busy there. Also it was a bit pricey for what you got

I give three stars because the atmosphere is great and so it the food. The lunch service is great The night bar service is ridiculously slow !!! I have been here over 10 times and every single time I have been here the bartenders are drinking and doing shots! I hope they fix this I am tired of waving down the bartenders and begging for a drink.

Michael and Gabby are the best! I love that there is zero trace of what the place used to be! Gypsy has definitely created a unique vibe for ambler. The calamari is amazing; its gently breaded, tender, and the aioli is to die for! The wines on tap are also a great addition! 10 span chard all the way!

Girls night is always a blast when you have great food & wonderful ambiance. This restaurant is a hidden gem. The staff was watm, accomodating, and attentive. At ladies night sharing is always in order so we had the truffle fries, calamari, buffalo wings, and brussel sprouts. The truffle fries were rich & savory. The calamari was a little over cooked. The wings were crisp & flavorful. The brussel sprouts were bold & daring. For my entrée I had the brown sugar brisket. The brisket was moist and succulent. This dish was accompanied with mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes. The potatoes were light, fluffy, and decadent. The vegetables were well seasoned. This place is definitely a hidden gem & must be explored further. The ladies enjoyed our evening before the show & was well pleased.

The renovation of interior is interesting. Too many hanging objects that will hit you squarely in the head if you are over five feet seven. Bar and televisions overwhelms the entire space and leave little wiggle room. Food itself seem priced for center-city but seasoning and presentation more rural. Cook definitely needs a refresher on spicing and timing. Not a venue for a meal, but nice for a glass of wine. Prices on food over the top.

I didn’t think this was anything special. Definitely a one and done for us. Two of us went for dinner. There were a couple people at the bar and no other tables. Our waitress left I guess after taking our app order and we got a different waitress. She didn’t introduce herself and when I asked about the apps she didn’t know that we had ordered them. When the apps came out they were a little cold but we ate them anyway. She was not that friendly and just went thru the motions of asking if everything was okay. The food was just okay. Nothing special that it should have cost $ 22 a plate for pasta with beef sauce.

For my first time being there I was not pleased at all I might just have to stick to carry out. I sat at the bar with my boyfriend, as the bartender talked to the couple next to us it took about 10 mins for him to acknowledge us and give us drink menus. Then the owner comes behind the bar and loud enough for us to hear says«make sure you card them». I have no problem being card myself being 25 and him being 29 but let your bartender do his job. Cheese plate is always a plus and always great but everything else came out wrong. We waited 15 mins with empty glasses until we were asked if we would like another drink, keep in mind there were only 8 people in the entire resturant including us. To top it all of the owner goes behind the bar pours a glass of wine and stands at the hostest stand drinking it while dealing with cuatomers. She pours a second glass and then sits at the bar(maybe by the second glass she was off the clock). I just did no see much professionalism in this establishment.

Waitstaff knows their menu. Pasta done al dente. We each has a Pasta selection. Rigatoni him. Orecchiette me. Yummy! Waitress even know my brother-in-laws family as we’re headed to a memorial funeral Mass with their family. Small world this little town of Ambler. Mange!

Hands down one of my favorite spots in ambler. I love that they have proscecco and champagne by the glass! The food is also awesome. Bartenders are attentive and friendly, and the bar has an overall good atmosphere. Granted I’m usually one of the younger people in the crowd but this spot is great. Can be a bit pricey but what place isn’t around here anyway?!

I’ve never gotten food here, just drinks. The drinks are good, and they have specialty drinks for various events. The couple times I’ve been here, the bartenders were usually prompt with service and nice. We had one off putting bartender that decided to try to joke with my husband about why he decided to marry me. Now it’s one thing to say that if we were already joking around, but when I just asked for a lager, there was no need for that… it was completely out of line… especially because you don’t know the customers and don’t know how they will receive the joke. We were also there for the Clydesdale horses and free lighting. Such a cool experience! Unfortunately the tree was on the smaller side, but that doesn’t matter… it’s the whole experience that counts! They had a group singing Christmas carols that were excellent! Service was great for a PACKED bar, and the bathrooms were maintained and clean which is a huge plus. The only problem was the miscommunication between the owner and staff member outside. I completely understand that rules have to be enforced regarding boundaries and where people can have alcohol outside, but when those boundaries are communicated differently between the two employees, PLEASE do not yell at me or my family when all we did was follow directions. Also, please do not follow up with«I’m the owner and my say goes». That’s great for you, but How about using your words with your employees so everyone is on the same page. Or better yet, get a visible rope or boundary to mark off where people have to be! You’re dealing with people who had been downing $ 2 buds like water all day, they need a visual!!! I’ll be coming back, but I just hope the next time I receive a little more respect. I get that the staff were stressed, but completely being yelled at by the owner when we were just complying with the other employee’s directions is completely out of line. There are plenty of other places in Ambler and they treat their customers with absolute respect.

Fantastic service, Kim the owner greets you when you come in and constantly checks to how you are doing. Love the atmosphere and the patrons are very pleasant. The food is a step above regular bar food, it is an awesome place to set and take in the beautiful surrounding. My favorite Bartender is Mike, make sure say hello and tell him Kenny G sent you.

I try not to write too many reviews without visiting a place a few times, but I don’t feel ill returning so here goes. The service and staff were very pleasant. The décor looked nice, but the giant TVs seem like a remnant from the previous establishment. The food was ok, but didn’t live up to the price. It lacked seasoning and imagination. I believe the food will work well for the Ambler theater crowd. One thing that definitely rubbed me the wrong way was the parking lot being turned to employee only parking and a note placed on the door telling you where you can park. While other restaurants in the area are offering free valet services, Gypsy Blu offers a map. It’s very off putting, unwelcoming and not part of the spirit of the town.

Extremely disappointed, DONOT recommend. Hopefully this property turns over again within the next year because they’ve really missed the mark. The worst part was our server, «Andrew N» in the bar area. He was obnoxious and highly inappropriate while my wife and I were trying to have a nice date night. He made us feel very uncomfortable and I’m utterly confused. If that weren’t bad enough, he offered poor service and made some of the worst drinks we’ve ever had. If you must visit Gypsy Blu, I highly recommend that you avoid the creepy short bearded man near the bar with a Napoleon Complex. Hopefully, then, your experience will be better than ours. In the meantime, we will never go there again.

The Food was good. Service was slow, and not good at all. Décor was great. But the live music made it hard to have a conversation: no one was really listening– instead were yelling over each other making it even louder. Pros: food, décor, small menu. Cons: noise level, prices, service.

Gypsy Blue has taken over the former location of 34 East, Fin McCools and the Wyndam Hotel. The interior layout has remained mostly the same with the extremely over sized bar that takes up way to much of the restaurant. A wall was built at the rear of the bar and a half wall was constructed on the opposite side of the bar to separate the dining area. I still think the bar is way too big. It’s hard to find a place to stand so if you can’t sit at the bar it gets pretty tight. They did a complete 180 with the décor for the better. Its like a cross between the Lucky Well and Deterra. The past establishments in this location were bar’s that served food. I feel that Gypsy is a restaurant that has a bar. This isn’t a spot you should walk in with ripped jeans and slayer tee shirt. Gypsy Blu did a good job for their first night. There were some bumps in the road but the food was fantastic. I had pasta with pork cheek and mussels in a white sauce. Both were exceptional. I will head back in a few weeks and update my review when they have the full menu. They will have(8) wines on tap and a plethora of beers as well. I spoke with one of the owners and she said they should be operating at 100% soon. I’m not going to dwell on the negatives since they rushed to get open except for the patio furniture. The chairs might be the most uncomfortable chairs I’ve ever sat in and the tables are very small. We had(4) people and it was hard to fit the plates drinks on the table. Overall I think Gypsy Blu is a fantastic addition to the Ambler dining scene and I look forward to coming back for dinner.
