Doug Smith Kia

This is our third time using the service department and every time we have the exact same complaints. 1) it’s expensive and with no explanation. In fact I was asked to sign a paper that didn’t even show a price! I had to ask what I was signing and how much it was all without seeing a breakdown. I guess they figure I’m not going anywhere in a broken car! 2) the shuttle service would be great but you have to wait until they can fit you in. We scheduled an 8 am appointment because they told us the shuttle could manage getting the kids to school. Once we got there they told us someone called in sick and now there was no shuttle. A phone call to let us know could have fixed a very stressful morning but I guess they don’t think that’s their responsibility. And they ALWAYS take a long time to do anything. Just getting checked in and into the service department takes forever! 3) very poor customer service from the main guy at the device desk (the one who checks people in). He is always defensive and non-​apologetic. He never tries to make things easier for you and definitely never apologizes. I’m getting more upset about how rude and dismissive he was as I think about it, and he has been that way everything we have come in. I think this was the last straw and we won’t be back. And our repairs were easy – a battery replacement, a gas cap broken, and a door seal needing to be popped back on! I would hate to depend on this service department for anything that took real effort!
update: Brian was wonderful – once he heard our predicament he really went to town and got us out of there in a reasonable amount of time. And he apologized. He is the only thing that makes me think we may be back.

I usually would not recommend a car dealership but I have to say, this was the best experiences I have had in buying a new car. I came to the dealership to look at a new car. When I came on the lot, Darin Elggren came out to greet me. No pressure, no high sales, just friendly attitude with a desire to ensure I had all of the information I needed.
We bought the car and couldn’t be happier. Darin was excellent and would recommend him. I intend to buy another car from Doug Smith and when I do, I will be talking to Darin.

We made a huge mistake by purchasing oil changes from the KIA service department. There «Express Service» took 2 ½ hours today! The same service they will tell you takes 30 to 40 minutes. I will never use their service or buy a car from Doug Smith again.

We knew it was coming… the dreaded day we’d have to venture into a dealership to trade in our old, ‘well-​loved’ vehicle for a new one. We’d done some research and had an idea of what we wanted, but you don’t ever REALLY know, do you? Maybe you do… But we didn’t.
I set up a time to meet with Darin for a few test drives, knowing full well that we wouldn’t be purchasing that day. In fact, I didn’t even clean out my car ahead of time. Whaaat?! Who DOES that?
But we did. Purchase that day, I mean. And it was primarily because Darin did everything he could to help us in narrowing down our options and in considering the pros and cons of each. He was so generous with his time and in the effort he provided in ensuring that my family was investing in a car that would not only suit us incredibly well, but would also remain within our budget.
He was determined to make the numbers work for us — and he succeeded! We are absolutely thrilled with our lease and will most definitely be back in the future to work with Darin again. He was pretty darn awesome: open, genuine and funny. I think he might even like long walks on the beach! Hah! Kidding.
In all sincerity, we are so grateful for the care and concern he showed for the needs of our family.
Thank you, Darin, for hearing us, respecting us, fighting for us, and entertaining us in the process! You are a rock star!

This review is for the sales department.
Let me paint the picture for you… I pulled up in a beat up ’92 Jeep Wrangler. Not exactly a vehicle that gets you instant attention from a salesman at a dealership. I was looking at used Jeeps. Skyler Sorensen came out and greeted me quickly and was very helpful. He came over from the Kia department. He walked around with me and found out what I was looking for and what I planned on doing with a Jeep. Turns out, he’s a Jeep guy himself and was knowledgable on all the modifications on the used Jeeps and the significance on local terrain. Good info to have since I’m a recent transplant from Texas.
I test drove a couple of Wranglers on the used lot. Each with modifications. I had the opportunity to drive varying degrees of lift and tires. All the used Wranglers were nice and clean, and great cars. I moved on to take a look at new and test drive there as well…
I drove off in a new Jeep Wrangler Ultimate Sport. I was given more than a fair trade value for the old Jeep and after Skyler and I crunched #s the Jeeps I drove, I decided new was what I wanted. Financing was very appropriately handled and I never felt pressured in any direction while I was there. Brooke in the finance department was very informative and made sure everything was clear.
I guess I should mention I’ve been thinking about upgrading for several months and have been to a few lots. New and used dealers. My experience at Doug Smith was great. I highly recommend them.

Superior service! My KIA had a small issue, it was covered under warranty. I took it in to Doug Smith KIA, everyone was polite and very friendly. Most importantly, they fixed the problem without any questions. Kyle was the technician who helped me and he is great. They also offer a free shuttle service to take you wherever you need while your car is getting fixed. I highly recommend this place.

Went to get my turn signal fixed because the light keeps on burning out. I told the mechanic that the signal light burns out every two months or so and I have to replace the bulbs but I just want to fix the wiring. The guy told me, «That is normal for a light to burn out that often.» After more persuasion he said they would take a look at it.
They charged me $ 100 for a diagnostic and $ 25 for parts and labor. Their diagnostic was, «no problem just a burned out bulb» 3 weeks later the light was out again. I went back in and told them they didn’t fix the problem and I wanted the $ 25 back that they charged for changing a lightbulb.
I have no problem with the sales team. I bought my Kia from Doug Smith and feel like I got a good deal. The Kia service/​repair seem a bit dishonest. This wasn’t the first time I’d had problems with them.
