Loved it the first time. Sushi was fresh, tightly rolled, and delicious. Went back and was underwhelmed on quality. Returned a third time and was underwhelmed again. Average to good expereice overall.

Sincerely the best Sushi I have ever eaten. My wife and I frequent this location. The service is typically very good. The Sushi is incredible. A must try.

This is a place where you can get some better sushi rolls in the area. They are pretty expensive but worth it if you want better quality sushi. The restaurant is quite dark and the service isn’t always the best.

This place has a great atmosphere, I feels intimate and welcoming. Good pick for a date. Service was top notch and prompt, as well as cheerful. The sushi was average in my opinion as well as the prices. Meal was served at a good temperature and nice presentation. I would recommend and go again. Over all a very good dining experience.

We finished our meals before my husband’s sushi came out. We waited for over an hour. Food is decent, service is poor.

Found a shard of glass in my sushi roll. Along with this the service was slow and inattentive when the restaurant was otherwise deserted. Management did not require me to pay for the meal but I will not be returning.

I always get bento lunch when I come here but this time I decided to give their ramen with pork cutlet a try— it did not disappoint me. I am a regular Tosh’s Ramen customer(they are in SLC) and trust me Koi’s ramen will do. The broth was tasty and ramen noodles perfectly cooked. I am super happy I tried it coz now if I crave ramen no need to drive so far. I wish they would add bean sprouts but either way their ramen is good although I have to say it is a little pricey, around $ 10, compared to a real legit ramen place like Tosh and huge serving. The bento lunch is good serving you get choose of meat, rice, soup and sushi. If you get a salad instead of soup it’s $ 1 more but honestly their miso soup is extremely good so save your dollar.

I have to put a disclaimer up front: I don’t eat fish. I don’t like it and thinking about them freaks me out. I came here with the Utah County Meetup Group and I specifically picked this place because it was an Asian Fusion restaurant, which meant that it would have more than just Sushi on the menu and I was not disappointed for choice, but ended up getting 2 Japanese dishes anyway. The ambiance is spot on, it’s trendy but still feels appropriately Japanese. As I said I was there with a group but I think this place would be good for a date too. Having said that the place is massive, it doesn’t feel it, the low lighting and table layout make it feel much smaller, but walking through the place to find a bathroom felt like an expedition. I ordered Udon, which I generally adore, and some kind of roll that had avocado and imitation crab which seemed like a safe bet. Udon is hard to mess up, and it was was delicious but it’s difficult to eat what is essentially noodle soup, with chopsticks. Not impossible, I managed eventually, but I would have appreciated a spoon or something. The sushi was also pretty good, I appreciate that they had the option of something very simple for a squeamish white girl, like me. The sauce that they brought with it helped to punch up the roll a bit but even without it I was happy with my choice. I cannot say the same of the rest of my party — at least one dish was sent back and the overall opinion of the group was something along the lines of «meh,» which, of course, is disappointing. If I was with someone that wanted Japanese, I’d come back here but it seems like someone that is actually a fan of Japanese food might want to go somewhere else.

I was there with a group, so I was able to taste more items than if it was just the wife and I. I have never found so many items I didn’t finish at one place. The short of it is that the miso soup was acceptable and the sake was good. Everything else was mediocre, bad, or Do Not Put In Mouth. The calamari. Had that look that says this came straight from a bag. It was not breaded locally. It was also large rings that were fried into rubber, and the breading had no flavor. The pot stickers were doughy with little flavor. The miso soup acceptable, but some odd flavor in the background. The dishes like Katsu Don were giant bowls of rice nobody could finish. The pork was covered in gravy so it was soggy instead of crispy. The spider roll easily had a half inch rice layer all around. It made it so you could hardly taste the crab. We, we switched to Nigiri. It was prepared with too much rice too. Plus the fish was dull looking and not good at all. Even the tobiko — my favorite — had so much rice and layers of seaweed wrapping with so little tobiko it was inedible. As I was removing rice from nigiri to try to turn it into something I’d eat, I tasted it. Sushi rice is supposed to have rice vinegar and seasonings in it. It is supposed to have flavor. This was plain old unseasoned short grain rice, that was overcooked. Yuch. I wasn’t expecting much when I came, but I wasn’t ready for this level of awful. Even my wife spent the entire trip home recounting the levels of bad, and that’s rarely something she does.

Nasty! The eel on the eel roll was big, chewy, and fishy. The avacados in our rolls were brown and soft. Everything tasted blah. The only reason they’re still in business is a really good sushi restaurant hasn’t opened in the area. I’d recommend Wasabi in Sandy.

Everything is excellent in their menu. Hamachi was more fresh than sushi places get in Cali. Great nigiri and rolls are generous and tasty.

Very good. Cooks are artistic and elegant. My only complaint is that I tried my sons teriyaki chicken and it was painfully freezer burned! But the adult meals were very good. I tasted all of my friends dishes. Right on. Please use fresher chicken for my kid.

Really great sushi rolls! Dishes just ok. Got the Bento Box with salmon. The Salmon was super fishy tasting(I know it is fish) but I expected a lot more seasonings & flavors. My daughter got the Teriyaki Chicken, which is normally her favorite.(Not so much there) My boyfriend got the shrimp & won tons which he enjoyed. Entrées are just ok. Atmosphere is nice & authentic. Service was also attentive. Stick with Sushi rolls in my opinion.

The chicken and steak are always over cooked and dry no matter how many times you tell them not to over cook them. It seems like they are flash cooking the meat and heating it back up. The owners are Chinese and don’t respect their customers. I say this because it’s happened over and over again. I would place an order«to go» for lunch and get back to work to find that there was no soy sauce with my rolls. How can you eat rolls without soy sauce? This has happened countless times, even after reminding them not to forget it. After being frustrated, I contacted Koi management who told me the soy sauce was given as a courtesy and that they wouldn’t refund my money. It’s not a big deal but the management just doesn’t seem to care about their customers.

Listen, if a Japanese restaurant is playing Credence Clearwater Revival — JUSTLEAVE. My mistake was that I didn’t follow my own advice. Service was good. The fish was ground up and reconstituted into hamburger/gelatinous muck. The meat patty in my ramen took me straight back to my elementary school days at lunch when they served frozen mystery meat. Learn from my mistakes. Avoid this place.

For the area(like Yamato, this would struggle in Salt Lake), this is very solid. It’s not quite up to what they’re charging per roll and a few pieces fell apart. Several were misshapen. The rolls were not consistent and one of them wound up very lopsided with the rice mostly on one side. Accuracy is evidently a struggle for the sushi chefs and the pieces were cut, not only not equal but sometimes way out of proportion. A lot of this is technical, but it made one of the rolls quite a struggle to eat and some of this stuff is very basic to sushi-making. The other roll came with all of the pieces lying flat, face-up on the plate, which is one of the oddest ways I’ve ever been served sushi. Those rolls held together better and were cut much more consistently. Ginger on the side was ok, but a little on the oversweet side and the soy sauce was ridiculously salty. Calamari was curious, but I didn’t care at all for either of the sauces, which just struck me as completely wrong. I adored the décor. Though it is a touch dark inside, it is is one of the better looking Japanese restaurants since Kyoto(Salt Lake) and hands down the best in the area, which includes probably everything south of the place. Service was also solid and I did also enjoy that they had straight green tea, even though I had to steep the bag myself. It can be a bit challenging to get to this place, but if I was in the area and after sushi, even though I think the value for the money ratio is a bit off, I’d probably at least consider this place and if I went in, would hope the chefs have learned how to cut equal sized pieces by then and get the rice consistent. I definitely can see what they’re aiming at, but one of the major differences that separates good restaurants from great ones, aside from quality of ingredients and technique, which are more givens, is the details.

Meh. Had nigiri(4 stars), a godzilla roll(1 star), and udon(3 stars) that came with tempura veggies(0 stars). Not the greatest place for Japanese. Utahns don’t know how to judge sushi at all.

They got our order wrong and the management refused to correct it. They instead charged our waitress for the food. When we asked to speak directly with the manager she refused to talk with us. I can’t begin to say how upset I am with this place. Don’t wast your time or your money.

We had a little gathering down south and winded up at this Japanese joint. Remember they are just off State St, so be careful with the GPS, since 466 W and 900 N is also a valid address for American Fork. The ambience was quite nice with fitting decors and comfortable seating, ideals for dating. Our table got some Miso soup, but the tofu tasted sour, so we had them switched for another bowl, which was also bad. I think we gave up after that. We got the Tuna pizza, breaking away from tradition, and it was a little odd combination, but the fusion flavor actually worked, not bad. They served the Soft Shell Crab in a somewhat odd way with the crab soaked in sauce with raw eggs inside… We got both Beef and Chicken Yakisoba, they were ok, the chicken was quite big though, could have slice them into smaller pieces. We had a side of pork cutlet, it was nicely done right, their Katsu Don did not disappoint me with egg, onion, and pork cutlet baked on top with sauce soaking into the rice. One of my favorite Japanese cooked dish. Ramen on the other hand was on the other end of the pole, top ramen would have tasted better, and perhaps it is best they pull it off the menu. Their sushi had an interesting plating concept with the Sashimi being on a bridge looking platter, and the sushi was on a large boat. Quality was acceptable and I think we all had fun eating from the boat. They had a Magic Roll that resembled an adult lollipop. Overall, the experience had its vicissitudes, Koi was not the perfect sushi joint, but it had enough good things to offer. Almost made me a fan. Service was ok and the owner came to visit us too.
