World Class Auto Repair

Had to have my car towed there while I was out of town. They were very professional and considerate that I was out of town. They let me mull things over for a week before I came back. However, they did diagnostics on my car and told me I would need new head gaskets and all that comes with it and gave me an estimate of $ 3,000−3,600. I got a second opinion just to be safe, and found out it was a thermostat problem ($ 300 fix) and my transmission and oil pan were leaking which they didn’t even catch. I had it fixed at the second place and it’s been great ever since.
They were nice about me seeking a second opinion and have a nice warranty, but I wonder about their diagnostic procedures. Their prices are a little above average market prices.

My normal mechanic was out on vacation so I had my 2007 Accord towed to World Class Auto because someone had recommend this place as a decent shop. Starter had to be replaced which ran me $ 425 (no this is not a typo) which included a $ 49 diagnostic fee which most reputable mechanic shops will apply towards labor but not World Class Auto.
In addition to this ridiculous cost, Lynn tried to shake me down for another $ 1,600 worth of of repairs telling me that the water pump was leaking and the timing belt needed to be replaced for $ 1,200 (I REPLACED BOTH 5 MONTHS AGO) and that I needed to replace my spark plugs for a WHOPPING $ 230, and brake fluid needed to be flushed which they were going to kindly replace for $ 140. Needless to say, I was thoroughly unimpressed with the services and cost so I will never be returning (next time I will wait until my mechanic is not on vacation).
To the owner Rod, I am sure you have spent many years building a great reputation and providing World Class service as evidenced by happy customer reviews previously HOWEVER you may want to pay close attention to your recent reviews and current staff to make sure they are providing the same level of honesty and service that you expect because in my opinion they are sorely lacking…

This is an update to my review from 1/​13, and I do appreciate the fact that the owner did indeed try to contact me 3 months ago to resolve my concerns. For this reason, I changed my 1 star to 2 stars.
I did have this unfortunate experience with this business, but I have also relocated from Utah and no longer have concern or reason to further the conversation.

I took my Toyota tundra to them to fix electrical problem and they told was going $ 85 for a diagnostic fee when they got done that’s all it cost me ice very please feel like a third place I took it dribbled action fix it I love them these are great guys use them.

I’ve known Rod at World Class Auto for several months. I wish I lived closer to American Fork because they would be my go to mechanic shop. Rod and his team have a ton of experience and they stand behind the work they do.

I am from out of state and visit Utah about once a month. Whenever I have car issues I take my car to World Class Auto. Rod Martin is an honest man and also warm and caring. His staff is friendly, prompt and well-​trained. I recommend them highly!

There’s a lot of reasons to take your car to World Class Auto. They have a great loaner program, will transport you to or from where you need to go, and have great customer service. But what really impressed me was the technology they have in their shop to diagnose any code on any type of engine. It’s expensive technology, so I can see why a lot of shops don’t have it, but it’s necessary technology with the advancements in auto-​computers and engine computers. I wish I would have taken my car to World Class Auto for the pre-​buy inspection, because they can read anything on any engine, unlike the *name left out* local franchise (of a national chain) that I took my car to.

They tried to sell me a part + installation for $ 478 that doesn’t go on my car. I have a manual transmission and they wanted to install a neutral safety switch for an automatic transmission. I told them to check again and they got back to me with the right part number.
You shouldn’t have to know about cars so that you can catch people like this trying to rip you off. I believe a good mechanic would be honest and not assume the «service manager» can try and cover his tracks by selling a part that costs 3 times the amount of the one needed for the job.
I expected better service for $ 94/​hour labor fees.
