Stayed long term on business over graduation week from local college. Town was sold out. Indian family owned and operated following standard business model. Friendly, but all about low overhead: worn out towels etc. Appears to have long term possibly subsidized Tenants in basement rooms. They sit outside back door grilling and smoking and talking on their cell phones until late at night. Currently their is a work crew from a local poultry plant staying in the block of rooms down the hall. Nice guys, but I had to help several of them call back to El Salvador as they were struggling with their new burner cell phones. My room is non smoking, but the smells of various leafy/pungent aromatics permeates the rooms. Finally, and this is all the unvarnished truth, I thought I was getting the bathroom floor wet when showering, but the toilets seal to floor is leaking at a slow steady rate. So. All in all, a very poor choice for Ames housing. I haven’t felt threatened or unsafe, but the very large shirtless man walking a rather hardened woman out last night was a bit unnerving

I got a clean room and all the expected amenities of a motel room. However, the repaint job on one wall was sloppy and there was a faint smell of urine in the room. Perhaps they should clean the carpet. The bathroom was clean and the shower pressure was good. Got what expected from a motel. Breakfast was your normal super 8 fare: apples, yogurt, cold cereal, packaged oatmeal, toast. The staff was friendly. It is in an easy to access location from the 30.

We stayed here for graduation at Iowa State University. It was pretty basic but got the job done. No pool or anything — but we didn’t have time for that, anyway. Rooms were clean and well-kept. Breakfast was not too exciting, so we elected for Perkins. All-in-all, not a bad place to put your head down for the night. Kum & Go up the street is nice and new — open 24⁄7 for an essentials.
