Beijing Chef Express

Have eaten here twice in the last month and both times I have been pleasantly surprised with quality and flavor. Many dishes are offered in two sizes. Prices are very good. Right off 101 in Amherst so easy in and out. Place has not been busy the two times I have gone but hope it gets enough decent reviews to stay open. Definitely worth a try.

This is by far the best Chinese food in the area. We have tried all the places in the area and this is defiantly the best. First off they have free delivery wich right away saves you a few dollars over the other places. The delivery was very fast for a Friday night. Their crab Rangoon is amazing. It’s stuffed with filling and huge wich is hard to find. Their prices are very good and portions huge. They have my business from now on!

Beijing Chef Express opened in the former (Feng’s Asian & Sushi) space, located in a quiet old strip plaza, just off NH 101A.
I stopped in at Beijing Chef Express for lunch takeout recently. Like before, the atmosphere inside is very old school with a takeout area with counter & open kitchen in one room and a casual self seating dining area in the adjacent room. The menu is the typical Chinese fare including Cantonese, Hunan, & Szechuan dishes, and steamed dishes too. Most items are priced under $ 11. 28 Lunch Specials with rice and soda ($ 5.50), 20 All Day Specials with rice & appetizers ($ 7.95), and 18 Special Combination Plates with pork fried rice & egg roll ($ 7.95) are offered here.
I ordered the L24 Shrimp with Garlic Sauce ($ 5.50 plus tax) and. the food was cooked to order quickly. However, when I arrived home with my lunch, I was actually given L17 Chicken with Garlic Sauce (also $ 5.50 plus tax) instead of the Shrimp with Garlic Sauce I ordered. I wasn’t about to drive back to Amherst, so I decided to eat the Chicken with Garlic Sauce which had tender boneless chicken, water chestnuts, baby corn, carrots, broccoli, onions, and cabbage in mild spicy sweet sauce. The pork fried rice (goldenrod color) had tender pork pieces, but the rice was overcooked and soft. Wash down the aftertaste of the food with the cold can of Sprite!
Overall, the food was fresh and tasted just fine, but my order was not correct on this visit. I WANTED SHRIMP! I would probably try this place again, but not for a while.
