5 stars all the way. It’s been about 5 years since I’ve been to this place and still remember how good it is!!! Great home cooked food!!!

We stopped by for dinner. It was around 6pm and we were the only ones there. Having read the good reviews on Unilocal,we headed on in and were seated at a big homestyle table. The menu consists of burgers, sandwiches and home-cooked fare, but with a twist. While they have normal comfort food like pot pie and collards, they also have a John Elway Chicken Enchilada. Two of us got the enchilada, one got the pot pie, one got the Grown-Up Grilled Cheese sandwich and I got the fried catfish. None of us were disappointed with the generous portions, but the enchiladas were the hit. Even though both diners said they were full, they managed to finish off the slightly spicy entrée. They have a good selection of bottle beer, a house wine selection and even four taps of draft beer, two of which are from neighboring Nelson County. The waitstaff was very helpful and attentive with several ladies taking care of us. That was nice, not having to wait until ‘your’ waiter walked by to ask for something. Also, by the time we left, the place had filled up. Perhaps it was in anticipation of the 8pm live music which happens every Saturday. Mountain View Market is definitely a destination, not a drive-by, so make time in your busy life to head out to Lowesville, past the old grist mill and check out the View!

My husband and I pulled into town and this was the first place we stopped… We saw they had a buffet until 3:00, and it was 2:50. Pushing our luck we walked in and were welcome with open arms and a welcome plate. The food was fantastic as well as the atmosphere. It wasn’t hard to find conversation and a smile. If your in the area you must stop by.

Mountain View market is nestled in Lowesville, Va. The owners Cathy, Dan & Julie are awesome people. There has been quite a transformation done on the place. The food truly is good down home cooking. They use top quality ingredients and you get your fill. I recommend this store/resturant very highly. It is as good as it gets. The Lowesville area is tranquil and peaceful and when your at Mountain View you’ll feel the LOVE.

Since our last review in 2008, Mountain View has grown into and flourished in its expanded space. Long gone is the tiny and cramped store that shoehorned diners among refrigerated cases and food shelves. Instead, it’s a bright and airy space that features wide aisles, a big kitchen and an entire wing for diners to comfortably enjoy Cathy and Julie’s home-cooked comfort food. There’s even a wrap-around porch with tables for taking in views of the mountains. Not ones to rest on their laurels, the owners have recently updated and expanded the menu to include new dishes such as meatloaf and baby back ribs and have vastly expanded the selection of vegetables and sides. At Mountain View, you really can have it your way(to borrow a slogan) because when you order a dinner platter, you pick what it comes with. Here’s a hint: get the divine three-cheese mac & cheese! Ditto the hearty baked beans. But that’s not all… the owners are committed to making as many of their dishes from scratch as possible. For instance, they tested many dinner roll recipes before successfully replacing the frozen ones they had been serving. Or, take the steak and cheese sandwich: the kitchen seasons and cooks a ribeye roast which is then thinly sliced; no Steak-umms here. Indeed, the care in preparation and the quality of the ingredients show. Mountain View is a real value — diners get belly-stuffer portions of fresh-prepared, home-cooked meals sourced from time-tested family recipes and served by friendly folks who genuinely enjoy pleasing their guests. Definitely worth seeking out!
