New food is amazing. I would definitely go back. A huge improvement from past management.

Great menu, great vibe, staff was very cool. Was there last Saturday for the first time and saw one of the«funk bands»(which is an awful description, as they were a mediocre jam band) mentioned by another reviewer. The reviewer is obviously too immature to realize that he should be THANKING any bar that risks it’s license when it allows minors to play, especially after I watched some kid get caught trying to sneak beer into the bar. This, from a musician. But I digress. Got the beef stew, which was awesome, and I’m always happy to find a bar smart enough to keep a couple of High West whiskeys available. I’ll be back next time I’m in the area.

It’s unfortunate, but I guess in the past year with the management change Harp still hasn’t learned how to not be rude to their underage performers, who come solely to do a job. Harp should address this, as there is currently literally no reason to visit this dump other than the fact that they occasionally book funk bands.

New menu is divine and has brought me back there twice in one week! The Irish Nachos were delightful and the mesclun salad perfect! Our waiter was most personable and very much on his game. Compliment the meal with terrific options on draft, the Harp is the best rediscovery in the Valley!

Very nice meal here with the new kitchen open. The chowder was as good as I have ever had. Will definitely return regularly.

Wow what an absolute disappointment. Miserable experience. No one was at the door to check IDs so awakardly standing around, and then we get yelled at to not move. Person who does check-IDs is rude. Came for trivia night which I thought would be better, only to be let down by more disappointment. Trivia night m/c was grumpy, unhappy, rude, and completely unenthused. And trivia night took 2 hours… We don’t need 5 minutes to figure out what the top part of a fraction is called… Overall just terrible

Excellent fresh haddock fried perfectly crispy with a beer batter. Wonderful Irish music session and very friendly folks! We’re here for the rock and gem show in West Springfield and had a delightful evening at the Harp.

Have been a patron here since lives in the rugby house down the street years ago. Always a friendly bartender, lots of space, a deck and great drink selection. Today I had a sprecher and a spicy Bloody Mary — just right!

This is a great place! Doesn’t look like much but the food is good — especially since the Harp acquired a new chef. He came out and introduced himself. It was so nice that he did that. There was no fish and chips because they get it in fresh for the weekend — we were in on a Wednesday. No matter — the onion rings were the best I’ve ever had, and we both loved the chicken. My husband was very pleased with the selection of on tap beers. We’ll definitely be back to try the fish and chips — so many restaurants use frozen fish — not The Harp — so get there on a weekend and enjoy!!!

I’ve been to many bars. I’ve been to fancier bars. In all honesty, I don’t think I give an accurate review of The Harp because I *love* the The Harp. I saw the Sox win the series in 2004 from their patio. I used to come to hear Apollo Sunshine play every Thursday. Trivia Night is amazing. Amazing. Anyway, there’s no other bar in Amherst I’d rather go to, the Irish Nachos are the best drunk food ever, and the pitchers are always cold. Harpo is an absolute treasure. If you’re looking for swanky, forget it. If you’re looking for good fun, then give it a try.

Trivia night is pretty awesome and not for the weak! Drinks are decently priced, but the food takes forever to leave the kitchen(that being said, the irish nachos are not to be missed, as they are all kinds of delicious). So plan in advance.

I used to like The Harp a lot, even though some of the bartenders and waitresses have been rude to me and to friends in several different occasions. Yesterday I went there with a group of 5 friends and had to wait 30min for the waitress to come to our table. We ordered some beers, which took another 15min, and then order food, which apparently was nowhere close to be served after 50min. We called the waitress and told her we would like to pay for the drinks but that we would like to cancel the rest of the order, because we’d been waiting for more than 1h and we had to go. At this point the owner showed up out of nowhere and literally kicked us out of the bar, yelling at us and saying we should never come back. I won’t.

Trivia Night was a staple of my college life. There was nothing better than driving way out to the Harp on a weeknight to listen to Harpo hoarsely yell at everyone who was jammed into the tiny bar. After trivia they serve you a buffet of absolutely disgusting(and delicious) drunk food. The place is a dump, but it has character in spades.

I don’t know what to do with this place; one week it’s pretty good, the next, it sucks. When I’m there, one of the bartenders is always consistently awful and the other is sometimes good and sometimes not. Kareoke on Thursdays, laid back crowd, relatively inexpensive drinks(but the mixed drinks are notoriously weak) are the pros. Sometimes those pros outweigh the cons, but other times the experience can be downright annoying.

Average Amherst bar, Points for having a(mostly) cool staff and cheap drinks. ALso, due to the location, it seems to keep alot of the UMass«yea dude“‘s out, which is greatly appreciated, till though, the drinks are on the weak side, and the bar itself is cramped and uncomfortable. I will go back to the harp, but its more because its the lesser of all evils.

For the partying undergrad who enjoys drinking cheap beer, this is your place. They have some decent beers on tap as well, but you’ll pay the same amount for a pint of boston lager as you will for a pint of microbrew at the ABC in town. Trivia game is decent on tuesday nights, but mostly for the potential rewards(first five teams get paid cash). The questions are uninspired, coming mostly from that day’s newspaper. If you go more than two weeks, you can walk in knowing half the questions before they are even asked. If you like massachusetts sports, know your astrology symbols, and can name the year pop songs were released, you’ll do fine. The food buffet is worth the five dollars it takes to play.

This would probably make five stars if I was a student on a tight budget and wanted a place to hang out with my buds and drink volumes of beer. But I’m not. I went there to attend a party of sorts. We had the«Dining» area reserved and there was a buffet. The buffet was a simple fare which under the circumstances was pretty decent. But the it was close quarters to say the least. The tables were pretty wobbly and the plastic table cloths have to go. But, when the Irish band showed up, the place really started to warm up. I wonder what happened to the pool table. They do have quite a few beers on draft and are supposed have really great, fresh seafood on Fridays. I’ll have to give them another go and update this review based on dinner.

TRIVIA! The Harp has a great Tuesday night trivia night. It’s not your Boston-styled Stump boredom-fest though. It’s a 50 question, 2 round superfest of wits, will, and an after-event buffet. The buffet is okay(comfort food), and the brews are good, and the atmosphere is great. Overall, it’s a nice North Amherst hangout, with the added bonus of some great trivia.
