Went to Andersons on Saturday November 28. Food was good but their menu changed from what appears in other reviews here on Unilocal.Hamburgers, hot dogs, fish and chips, salads, and pizza we’re pretty much all that was available. Definitely a great afternoon activity to take the ferry across, walk around, and have lunch… just keep in mind it’s a hamburger and beer place and not a gourmet café.

Great food and reasonable prices, along with a decent selection of beers. Thank you Terran. My wife and I had a wonderful lunch, beers and ciders, along with the awesome peach moonshine. We had a great time meeting you and talking with you. We already can’t wait to get back to the area. Go Channelside! From Your Plant City, FL fans!

You could at least serve beer with a frosted glass! Also, your crab cakes are excellent, but skip the cheesy bun. Just serve crab cakes with coleslaw. Eggscellent!

They loaned me a bike to ride around the island, which was a delightful experience. Their bar had a nice selection of drinks and a friendly staff. I witnessed a customer being helped out above and beyond by a friendly young male staff member. This made me feel like Anderson’s would be a good place to shop often.

Just got back from my trip to Seattle and I’m so happy I found this cute general store on Guemes Island. While I’m not into football, everyone was so into the Seahawks game yesterday it made it a fun atmosphere. Great views all around of this beautiful area. My table ordered a few different items so we could all share, and I must say the crab cakes were my favorite! We also ordered the Guemes burger which was cooked perfectly, although I would say the prime rib dip was best! Even the clam chowder was good, which I am very particular on my clam chowders as it is one of my favorite meals ever and have only found a few places which I can say the chowder is good. The service was faster than I had expected it to be when it was busy for the game, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. I will definetly come back!

Its the only place on the island so you tend to HAVE to go there but the new owners ruined this place. They treat their staff and costumers awful. I hope to encourage people to purchase everything they need on the main island and hope this place goes out of business or sells to someone who cares about the community and treats their staff and costumers the way they should…

So I’m pretty sure the ownership changed or they revised their entire menu and have a totally different chef. Because all the excellent dishes that are described below and on their website(Asian guacamole? that sounds delicious!) were not on the menu when we went last weekend(July, 2014!). so don’t get excited if that’s what you were ready to eat. Now it’s a mixture of very uninspired items… burgers, prime rib, sandwiches, fries, clam chowder. We ordered the Guemes Burger that came out with a very thin frozen-looking super dry patty. We also ordered a crabcake sandwich that was a lot of bread, a limp piece of lettuce and skimpy bland crabcake. I guess they don’t need to try hard when they have a captive user base. Great patio for a beer and super views though. The store is fine too, especially if you’re waiting in the loong ferry line on the weekend. There is one lady there who is rather grumpy and totally ignored us and then kept sighing heavily like were in the way. Lady — you live on a beautiful island. I’m sorry there are tourists who come by on the weekend. And for the person who said it’s the«best restaurant on the island» — let’s call it like it is: this is kinda the only restaurant on the island.

This is the best restaurant on the island. The food is great, and the views are great, but they only have one grill and one cook.

Clean, comfortable store with a decent variety of foods and drinks to tide you over until your next ferry ride back to Anacortes. Yes, there’s a markup, but that’s what you pay for convenience – they have to bring everything across by boat, too, so prices shouldn’t be as shocking as some people make them out to be.

I came in for lunch and ordered from Chef Ryan who gave me a enthusiastic colorful rundown of the menu. I had the Asian Guacamole served with kaluah pork on top and crispy schichimi chips. The guacamole is out of this world! Almost ordered a second one I wolfed down the big portion so fast. Luckily I didn’t because I had also ordered the pulled pork sandwich which was huge and perfectly moist. I had to take a third of it back to the cabin I was renting on the island. It made a wonderful midnight snack. What a nice surprise to find that the only restaurant on the island actually had fresh inventive food. Chef Ryan’s food would be at home in any high quality cosmopolitan restaurant. I would call it Hawaiian with a fresh Asian twist. All the ingredients were top-notch. Portions generous and the price point reasonable for the quality, freshness and size of the food. Glad to know next time I come back to Guemes Island I no longer need to bring my groceries with me. I will look forward to coming back. Don’t miss the Guacamole!

Good meal overall, but definitely running on island time! Good food, amazing view, great outdoor seating area, good menu choices/variety, a bit pricey, friendly-ish but incredible slow/not great service. We were one of three tables there(two groups of two(inc. us) and another of 4) yet they were sooooo slow in getting anything out to us and also got confused as to where to take the items ordered, and getting them right(I.e. we ordered some coffees and the girl tried to bring them to the same table where she had JUST brought out their coffee order to! Somehow the fact they were already drinking coffee that she had brought out didn’t raise a flag… and once we took a sip, it wasn’t what we had ordered…) We also got an appetizer with our meals but it came out at the end(as did the coffees). However, everything we ordered was yummy, maybe a bit pricey for what it was– but given the view and location, it didn’t phase us too much. Service was not as friendly as I had expected for a small community place, but was okay. The view from the outdoor patio was gorgeous! Overall we would eat there again if we found ourselves on the island but would be prepared for a few follow ups to get the orders right(and wouldn’t expect super friendly service).

The only show in town on Beautiful Guemes Island right across from the ferry dock and has a great bar/restaurant as well as a general store. The food ranges from traditional fair such as burgers, chicken, fish & chips–(which by the way are AWESOME!) … ranging to new eclectic dishes prepared by a fine chef. They have live music about twice a week. I just wish they stayed open later. GREATPLACE!

This place is great! We took the quick ferry over for dinner on a Friday night. We had scallop tacos here, and they were marvelous. I also had a cherry beer which was unique and tasty. Since this is the only restaurant on the island, about 75% of the patrons were locals on the day we visited. The restaurant is pretty laid back, no stuffy dress code. So don’t be afraid to fill your own water glass at the bar because most locals seem to do just that. Try to visit during sunset for a lovely view!

I have to say hands down the WORST service I have ever experienced! I cannot believe how rude the cashier was, she acted like she was doing me a favor by helping me. I have had some bad service in my day but this place takes the cake. I guess being the only place to eat on the island makes it easy to be this way. I wouldn’t go back if someone paid me. I paid $ 30 for a crappy cheeseburger, PBJ and a chicken salad… food was gross, service sucked… the pretty view was the best thiing this place had to offer. Save yourself, eat in anacortes.

Anderson’s is the only place to eat on Guemes… luckily it is good. They certainly use their monopoly to charge higher prices, but they have generous portions and friendly service. Often times there is a long line at the register when cars are lined up for the ferry so keep that in mind if you know there are other cars behind you and the ferry is coming soon! Breakfast is great… but I’m not sure if they serve the full menu on weekdays. The cheesy burrito is one of our favorites. They have good beer on tap, make great dinners, and are worth the short boat ride over from Anacortes… come over for live music on the weekends.

Absolutely the BEST restaurant on Guemes Island! Haha… it’s the only restaurant on Guemes Island. That said, I think it’s the best place to eat even if you’re in Anacortes. Skip the crappy food in that town, it’s either out of the freezer and re-heated for you pleasure or it’s incredibly over-priced tourist frou-frou. Walk on the ferry($ 2), walk up the hill, grab a seat at the lunch counter(bar) and order from the daily specials list which rotate all the time. If it’s nice out, grab a seat on the patio with the best view in a hundred mile radius.
