Right in adorable Anacortes center … the perfect place to get lunch before you hop on a ferry. Prices seemed a liiiittle high but once we were fed, we really felt like we had got our money’s worth!(At least the coffee is bottomless!) The«breakfast all day» policy made it hard to choose what to order. Husband went breakfast and got a breakfast burrito, which looked giant and gorgeous. I took the lunch angle and chose a pesto chicken sandwich: it was giant, served on delicious homemade bread, full of super fresh veggies, and with a side of GOOD chips(I think they may have been Tim’s). We were really tempted to get a dessert(maybe to carry on the ferry?) but we were just stuffed too full to risk it. The bakery case was REALLY appealing, however, full of their trademark cinnamon rolls, as well as cookies, pie slices, and more. Servers are super friendly and prompt, always quick to refill the water and the coffee. I liked the ambience of this place. The walk-up bakery counter keeps the flow of human traffic really steady, but in a warm/lively way, not in an annoyingly crowded way(at least the time of day we were in!!). The music they play was right up my alley the whole time we were in there(mix of classic rock, indie, and folk rock; they even played our wedding song!). The whole place is decorated kind of home-y/rustic-y and it’s very clean.

Overrated and overpriced in our opinion. Nice setting that gives the impression of being upscale but really is nothing special.

I was pleasantly surprised when I took the advice of a work friend and gave calico cupboard a shot. Service was excellent and genuinely friendly. I was very impressed by the clam chowder and I grew up in New England so I am a snob when it comes to chowder. The sandwich was good but not mind blowing and my wife had a cinnamon roll french toast which I snuck a bite of. Very tasty. At the end of the day I would say check this place out and I am excited to come back to try the menu.

We ordered the waffles and the butternut squash hash. The waffles were not noteworthy. They were definitely not Belgian waffles and it tastes like they were made with pancake mix. The butternut squash, on the other hand, was incredibly delicious: the perfect breakfast before hopping on the ferry for autumn adventures in the San Juans. The cubed potatoes were cooked perfectly: crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The only qualm I had was that the cubed butternut did not taste very good and it was a little too soft. All in all a good breakfast: next time we’ll skip the waffles and squash and just get two orders of hash.

My last visit to Calico was 2 yrs ago when I was in Anacortes. It was a really good brunch. So when I’m around the area again this summer, it’s an obvious choice for lunch. And it didn’t disappoint me. Same solid decent American food. Not fancy but nicely portioned with good tastes. I ordered their lunch special of chowder and tuna melt sandwich. The chowder was creamy and lightly flavored. The real surprise is the tuna melt sandwich. First of all, it’s open face sandwich, which we don’t see very often in the restaurants. Second, it’s generously portioned with layer of cheese, tuna, raw onion and tomato slice. There are two layers of cheese, one between the tomato and bread, so the bread won’t get soggy, and other layer on top of the tuna melted. The portion is really large and I almost couldn’t finish it. Third, it tastes great! That’s some high quality tuna. When combined with the fresh tomato, raw onion and cheese, the flavor is beyond excellent. This definitely is one of the best tuna melt sandwich I’ve tasted! My family ordered some scramble eggs and omelets, and they taste great too. However not as impressive as the tuna melt. We also ordered some pastry to go for snacks. Again, good quality with reasonable price. The service was good too, our waitress dropped by a few times to make sure everything is all right, and our water got refilled frequently. The place seems to be a local favorite because people keep coming in, many looks like local resident. Next time I’m in Anacortes for casual traditional American brunch with good price, I will sure visit Calico again.

Good but generic breakfast, nothing special. The workers were very friendly, and service was very prompt. But unless you’re okay with waiting a bit for boring ol’ diner food, I’d go check out other spots in town instead. That cinnamon roll was good though…

Pretty good breakfast and reasonable prices. It was very busy but did not have to wait too long. Nice atmosphere. The blackberry pie was the best I’ve ever had.

Great place for breakfast or lunch check out the menu online. I had oatmeal that was served with a choice of brown sugar toasted coconut or raisins or all the above served with wheat toast slice of pineapple slice of orange and a slice of watermelon. It was great. Nice to be able to sit outside I can see where bees could become an issue and they had some bee trappers around the outside of the restaurant. Coffee was good.

It’s easy to tell when a place is good by how many locals are willing to wait to be seated. This place jumps! Lots of tables, indoor and outdoor seating and WiFi. I only purchased baked goods and they have a great selection of Gluten free and non Gluten free choices. I bought some of each and I would be hard pressed to tell which was which, in a good way! Next time I am in town I will be sure to try a sit down meal.

In a restaurant known for its bright smiles and personable customer service, server Sarah T continues to be exceptional. Intuitive and attentive, she is invisible until the moment needed, then descends with discretion, slipping from table to table in anticipation of each customer’s needs. Her smile is not forced, but genuine, taking pride in ensuring each customer’s satisfaction and happiness. For those seeking not just great food, but service that feels like a hug, Calico Cupboard(Anacortes) is the première restaurant in the region.

Wow. This is a great place for breakfast. Had the best hash ever(Brussels sprouts) and I have never liked hash. The pastry shop has a great selection of Danishes and scones.

Great food! We only had breakfast, but it was delicious and we were served in a timely manner. I would definitely tell others about this place and would love to try lunch or dinner.

The yogurt was good the granola was excellent but I don’t understand why they do not have fresh berries when they’re available on every corner in this wonderful little town The best they can offer were frozen blueberries? Really?

Delicious! Stopped here on a busy Friday morning before the ferry. Great food and service! Can’t ask for more than that. If you are a gluten free eater, this is the place for you! I haven’t had a waffle in years. It tasted amazing, and my non-gluten-free hubby thought it tasted great as well. They have an extensive menu with something for everyone. They have a nice little bakery that has both regular and gluten free treats that look heavenly and taste even better. Must try if you’re in the area!

My wife and I stopped here for breakfast on our way to San Juan island. As soon as we got there we saw it was a little busy so I took that as a good sign. I had the breakfast bowl and it man was it really good! The biscuits were soft and the potatoes were good. Great service and nice people. If you’re out this way you have to stop in for breakfast! They also have a little bakery so cookies, scones etc are available as a pre or post meal snack.

My husband and I came here for breakfast on a holiday weekend. Surprisingly we were seated quickly and didn’t have to wait. However, the service was pretty slow once we were seated. I had the Brussel Sprout Hash, it was delicious and a huge portion size. However, I expected there would be more Brussel Sprouts, there either wasn’t very many or they were lost in all the potatoes, either way it was a very good breakfast. My husband had the French Toast which looked amazing and he enjoyed it. We had a long road trip ahead of us so we grabbed a cookie and peanut butter bar to go which were amazing and very rich.

Some places are worth traveling to another city for, this is one of them. Came here around 10 am and there was a wait, as expected. The wait was only about 15 minutes which isn’t bad for a great breakfast spot. We were seated and asked about drinks as per usual. Coffee was constantly refilled, however whatever never was. Ordered the Chicken Apple Sausage and Roasted Pepper scramble for about $ 12. Tons of potatoes and good portion of egg scramble with plenty of sausage. Food was just warm, with a couple hotter areas. Emily ordered the original house pancakes. Came with a large piece of chicken Apple sausage and three pancakes. Both were great! Overall great experience, food was delicious and prices were typical of a higher end breakfast place. Only issues were the eggs and potatoes weren’t warm enough, never asked for refills, and some prices were a bit high. Excellent breakfast!

Calico Cupboard Old Town Café and Bakery Anacortes, Washington Ordered: Breakfast Buritto with the tortilla on the side I first want to mention that this restaurant closes at 3pm. There’s two hour parking on the street in front of this restaurant however if you don’t want to be rushed there’s free customer parking in a lot behind the restaurant with no time restrictions. Although my meal didn’t have a stand out«wow factor» it did not taste bad at all. The breakfast potatoes had grilled onions mixed in them and that offered added flavor. My meal tasted fresh and on the healthy side. The service is great and accommodating. I was checked on several times by the wait staff. I would dine here again but I would order a different dish.
