It was late when we rolled into Anacortes. We were tired and hungry. The Unilocal App steered us right when it steered us to Il Post for Italian food. Due to the late hour, we had the dining room pretty much to ourselves. The service was friendly, prompt and efficient. And most importantly, the food was delicious! We ordered and split one entrée and one salad. I got to choose the entrée; Vitello Gorgonzola. It was veal cutlets smothered in a capers, white wine and gorgonzola cream sauce. It was outstanding! My bride chose the Bietole Insalata. It was also very tasty. The menu described it like this: Fresh local beets marinated in raspberry vinaigrette on top of mixed greens with goat cheese and candied walnuts. For desert, my wife wanted gelato, but we could not decide on a flavor. Our server was nice enough to point out that we’d get three scoops, so we could get three flavors! So we got Hazelnut, Pistachio, and Vanilla. All three were very good, but the Pistachio was the best. The entire meal came to less than $ 40, and the whole experience was very enjoyable. If I ever find myself back in Anacortes again at dinner time, I would not hesitate to dine at Il Post.

Have eaten there several times. Each time it’s just okay — which isn’t okay for the price!

So disappointed. Goodness. With the great reviews, I was hopeful. First, we were put in the back room that doesn’t have any ambience. The menu looked great. The prices are high, but for good Italian food, I will pay the price. Sadly, at best, the food was mediocre. I have never been served rossitto on a plate. The«chicken sausage» was terrible and the rossitto was almost cold. My husband’s seafood stew was just«OK» and not seasoned very well. For two entrees and two glasses of wine $ 82.00. Really? Be smart and go to Olive Garden. The food is better, the prices are lower and you can get the unending salad bar. So sad, Il Posto, so sad.

Went there for the 2nd time and it was even better than the first. Not much to look at from the outside and no view inside. That said the food was amazing and would compete with Seattle’s best. We 2 salads the Beet and Caesar salads along with the pan fried halibut and a veal dish. All was first choice. It was not inexpensive; probably high middle of the road pricing. Considering the top quality ingredients it was well worth it. Will return

Great little place in Anacortes. The setting is on a corner but when you walk inside it is just like a little café. Nicely decorated and very warm greeting. I had my grandmother and parked in the handicap parking spot. Someone greeted us at the door to help me with her. She was walking very slowly and with a cane. We split a Caesar salad — crisp romaine, light dressing and homemade croutons. They were very accommodating, giving my grandmother Alfredo sauce without basil and extra Parmesan. She was very happy, and this is not an easy woman to please. My spice pomodoro(by my request) was delightful. Rich hearty tomato sauce with red peppers. I added meatballs and was disappointed that they were only beef. No veal, no pork :-(. They were still good. I made the mistake of not asking but did ask about the Bolognese, wihch was only hamburger(and why I did not order it). Our server was very nice, a little nervous but very helpful in answering all of my questions. The wine list was nice, well-rounded. Unfortunately, I was only having wine by the glass. The CA Zinfandel was good but $ 10 /glass relative to the other wines by the glass. Oddly enough the wines by the glass did not include a label, which made it challenging to make an informed decision. No room for dessert, but it did look good. Yummy chocolate almond bisconti with the check was all the dessert I needed.

I was bored of sitting at home on New Years Day, so I decided that a little day trip was in order and got someone else interested in going. Anacortes sounded like a great destination that we both haven’t visited in years, so Anacortes it was! Unfortunately we got lost on the way and didn’t arrive until after dark, but that gave us the perfect excuse to start searching for dinner. Il Posto was the best sounding place that was open, and I think I saw mention of gluten-free somewhere(important for the dining partner). The first impression was that it must be a place popular with the locals! A man came out to the parking lot when we arrived and said«You’re late and missed everything!» Turns out he thought we were someone else he knows that drives a gray Accord, but… that was still interesting. There were a few people that seemed very familiar with the bar and bartender enjoying drinks inside. There were also a few tables, and we grabbed one of those. I had a serious craving for crab, and was sad/happy when I learned they did not have any available. Why happy? Because I like it when businesses don’t import food so they can serve them when they’re not actually in season. The place had an exposed kitchen, and that was something we kind of wished wasn’t the case. It was an okay kitchen, but the place had a slight«old diner”/cheap building feel to it that didn’t quite fit with what Il Posto is when it comes to service and food. We both hold the belief that exposed kitchens should be a bit more… deluxe. The waitress was fantastic! She checked on us frequently and helped answer all the questions we had. They had a couple gluten-free pasta options and were fine to go off-menu with us and let us order the basics with the ingredients we wanted(like artichoke and sun dried tomatoes). The food was very tasty and the leftovers even tasted great the next day. The regular salad options with the vegetables tasted good, but I was a bit disappointed to see that it was basically just greens surrounded with a few slices of cucumber and a few slices of tomato. We skipped the dessert, but we loved how all the options were presented on a very appetizing tray. Total for two small simple salads, two glasses of red wine, and two simple pasta dishes(one was gluten-free) was $ 66. Ouch. Good thing we enjoyed the experience?

We stopped here coming back from whale watching on San Juan Island — found It through Unilocal :-) This place was fantastic. The calamari was tender, garlicky, and a bit spicy; the gnocchi had a strong gorgonzola. I had the ahi tuna, which was perfect. This place is small, intimate, and tasty. A small bar area too. I definitely will come back here next time I’m on anacortes.

I had dinner at Il Posto last night and it was excellent! The bread was noce and crusty and was served with a delicious herbed olive oil. The chicken Parmesan had good fresh poultry flavor. The pasta was al dente and had good body. The plate was garnished with slivers of basil that were bursting with strong flavor which was a perfect compliment to the bright, tangy tomato sauce. It was a dinner that I really enjoyed savoring bite after bite. I could tell that all of the ingredients were of very high quality and prepared with care and attention to detail. The portion size was just right; I have a big appetite and I got plenty to eat. The waitstaff was timely but never intrusive. It was just about the best restaurant experience I could imagine.

This was the first restaurant I went to after moving to Anacortes. I love Italian food and spent many months living in Italy so I was excited to hear that we had an authentic Italian joint in town but wasn’t impressed at all. The food was bland. I could make better at home. It was winter, so the place was dead which made service awkward as the whole staff was lingering around the dining room. They didn’t time the food very well being that it was dead. Not 3 minutes after our appetizer was placed on our table were our main meals being served to us. For the prices Il Posto wants to charge, I’d rather stay home and make my own Italian food.

I really wanted to like Il Posto, but I really didn’t. I want to be diplomatic about this: they are clearly going for a slightly more refined ambiance, but it is just kind of dated and, um, quaint. The service really wasn’t very good, kind of awkward and not really well informed about the menu. There were several specials, including an eggplant carpaccio, which we ordered. It was way over-dressed with a sickly-sweet balsamic… something.(I have trouble believing it was just a reduction, it was more like a heavy paste.) Our entrees were ok. I got the Bolognese and my wife got the lobster ravioli; hers was better than mine. The ravioli had recognizable chunks of lobster in each one, which was nice. The Bolognese was just kind of there, way more tomatoes and wine than I’m used to(more like standard tomato sauce with meat mixed in)…pretty heavy and one-note – a bit of a letdown, but perfectly edible. The food was just average(except for the terrible eggplant special), the service slightly below-average, and the atmosphere a couple notches below that. I hate giving places like this bad ratings, but it really isn’t very good.

Best Italian in town. We went there just cause we drove by it. Its nice place, our waitress was very nice and friendly. I ordered the veal. Not quite what I expected, but good. The veal was though, but moist. Great flavor with the white wine. My wifes was way better, she ordered the scallops. They were awesome. Pan fried and covered in a butter sauce. The only downfall was, is that I ordered a dirty martini with Grey Goose vodka. It wasn’t Grey Goose, but they charged me for Grey Goose anyways. And their house Chardonnay was more like a Riesling. But all in all good food and good place.

We’re locals, so we could go to Il Posto whenever we like. We went last night for my husband’s «birthday dinner» and we left wondering why on earth we don’t go more often!!! I had the risotto, he had the veal. It was AMAZING. The veal was tender and flavorful, and the risotto was the«sausage and spinach» special. They have a ton of specials all the time, but this one tickled my fancy so I dug in… WOW!!! The apps(bruscetta), the entrees, and the atmosphere were great! The terimisu(sp??) for dessert was amazing, as was the service and the entrees. I can’t say enough about this place — we will have to go more often!

Il Posto is a quaint restaurant right on the edge of town that expresses fine dining the minute you walk in. The food was quite amazing and was better than some of the places I’ve eaten at in San Francisco. If you’re ever in Anacortes I would recommend eating here.
