This is my favorite place in town. The pink cookies are a must! Friendly staff and good coffee.

Such a lovely place! Good food and happy staff. Will be back! Had a dirty chai and two lattes for the parents. All were happy!

This review is LONG overdue. Actually over a year ago. but I still remember this experience. When my boyfriend and I first moved to Anacortes in February of 2014, we figured we would try this place due to all the good reviews. I wish we would have gone to Starbucks or Strawberry by the Bay instead. We walked in and weren’t greeted. that’s usually not a big deal to me when places are busy, but we were the only ones who walked in and the only ones in line and everyone behind the counter was just standing around talking to each other. We walked up to the counter and no one came up to take our order, so we were standing there for a little bit thinking that maybe they were giving us some time to look at the menu. A few minutes went by and usually if people are staring at the menu for a few minutes, baristas ask if we have any questions, if there is something she or he can help with or recommend. things like that. Nope, we were completely ignored. We waited patiently for someone to take our order, but everyone still stood around gossiping about the latest happenings in their life. We were considering leaving at this point when finally, one of the girls turned around and asked«Do you know what you want yet?» in a COMPLETELY rude and snarky tone like she had been waiting for US this whole time! I may seem like a customer service Nazi, but having held many customer service positions in the past and trained properly with customer service etiquette definitely makes me appreciate good customer service and bad customer service when I get it. and this definitely was enough to turn me off to this place. I at least know not to ignore people who come through the door to my business. And on top of everything, the coffee wasn’t that great in my opinion. Haven’t been back since and will never be back.

We stopped here while visiting Anacortes for two reasons: I love coffee and I love penguins. We went inside and it was a cozy set up, very warm & welcoming. Penguin stuff everywhere, which I loved. The coffee was Delicious and the staff very nice and friendly. will definitely go back!

a solid and middle of the road coffee shop right on the main ave of Anacortes and has a drive thru, which is convenient. nothing special or to speak of but at least it’s consistent and prices are decent. nuff said.

Great local spot to get coffee if you’re in a hurry for the San Juan ferry or just want to lounge before you start your day. It is my spot I like to go to before work everyday. Familiar faces, good coffee, and great service.

Hands down, the best coffee in Anacortes. And the scones can’t be beat. The management is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, too.

Love this local coffee place! Owner Aaron is a peach, and if he’s there, have him make your coffee-he knows his stuff!

Awesome place, great coffee and love the new travel mugs. The skinny Carmel misto is where it’s at for me. Jam packed with penguin goodness everywhere inside. Who knew that penguins would be such great coffee experts?

I just had a supremo cappichino at Penguin coffee. It was the best. Great place for coffee and try those fresh baked cookies. It’s all about the frosting!

Exactly what I wanted in a coffee shop. Solid Americano and a good breakfast sandwich. They even put a delightfully healthy dose of hot sauce on it for me.

Absolutely the best coffee anywhere in Anacortes. We visit 4 to 5 times a year from Oakland, and stop by here every day we’re in town. The staff is friendly the coffee is delicious. My mom loves the mocha — she goes every day. I’ve never been inside, the drive thru is perfect except the drive in window seems more for trucks than low cars.

I stopped in here based on the reviews of good Unilocalers. I wasn’t thrilled, nor disappointed. The Americano was average. Very little crema and somewhat weak. My Visual Americano Crema and Opacity(VACO) test didn’t score too well(when you can see through the coffee to the side of the cup a few mm when looking at the inside). A highly scientifict test of course, but it’s disappointing getting a watery-looking coffee, no matter how it was prepared or tastes. I’m come again because the staff is super-friendly, and I’m always up for another try. The hours are decent. Open til 7 on a Saturday, well after the rest of the town has already quietened down.

This was by far the best coffee we had during our entire vacation. We were on vacation and needed something to pass the time while we were doing laundry across the street, so we headed up to this cute place for a mid-afternoon kaffeeklatsch. The baristas are really good and were able to make all of our orders, including a *perfect* ristretto for my husband. They’re also super friendly and more than willing to make sure that you are happy with your food and drinks. It’s primarily a drive-through coffee shop, which seems to be the norm around this part of the country(and thus a novelty to this South Floridian), but they are adequately equipped to handle the casual coffee drinker on foot with ceramic mugs and plates. Sure, it’s not a Starbucks interior, but the coffee is well worth the lack of high end design. As with any dining, drinking or drive-through establishment, knowing what you want to order when you get to the point where you actually *can* order is par for the course. Lindsey and her mother-in-law obviously haven’t learned this rule yet and thus should stick to the chain coffee places. :D

We used to stop at Starbucks when we wanted to get a mocha or breve in Anacortes because we hadn’t been able to find any decent local coffee shop in town. But an overflow crowd at Starbucks one morning had us looking elsewhere and thankfully we found Penguin Coffee. We MUCH prefer them now. The prices are lower and the espresso is very good. And they have free Wifi in the shop. The place is always busy with locals so they sure have their audience. Now that we know there is a locally owned business in Anacortes that really knows their coffee we have forgotten about the Starbucks in town and only go to Penguin.

On Commercial Ave on the right side as you go north. Pluses: * nice people * the barista made a proper short pull espresso when I was there * free wi-fi with no fuss Minuses: * Not a lot to look at on the inside; they’re kind of focused on the drive-thru traffic * Not in the more walkable north end of Commercial Ave. Overall: probably would be two stars given the below-average interior but the really good espresso makes it worth a stop.

This drive-thru/coffee shop serves up some Tully’s coffee and some awesome-looking pastries. We swung in on our way to the ferry terminal. I got an americano, which was just what the doctor ordered after getting up at 6 am to do the 1.5 hour drive, and it was all I could do to resist having a giant cookie as well. The atmosphere was nice inside, very relaxed and homey, and with 2 espresso machines going, there’s no way you’ll wait very long!
