BESTBBQ around! My husband and I order the same thing every time, the«chopped» beef brisket sandwich, but EVERYTHING is delicious! That just happens to be our favorite. You get a lot of food with your order — go hungry! If you like onion rings, they are a MUST!

Hidden gem in Anaheim, by the business district. Never would have thought there was a bbq here. The portions are big and the bbq was amazing. The ribs and chicken fell off the bones and the tri tip was tender. Loved the free cookie with the check in. Service was great too. Order at the counter and find a seat. They will bring the food to you.

this review is only for the whole bbq chicken($ 11.99); I felt like the sauce was just put on last minutes. I was hoping the bbq sauce being cook with the chicken. I was just not into their bbq flavor here.

Stopped in around 7:30pm on a Tuesday. Our group consisted of 2 dads and 5 kids. The cashier(«Alyssa» I think) was amazing. Not only was she very helpful in helping us order, she was very polite and helped get all of our kids situated with drinks, napkins and utensils. The food was excellent. We had a little bit of everything. Pulled pork, ribs, pastrami, beans, mac n cheese, bread, etc. All of it was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing! I would recommend Blake’s to anyone in the area.

Here’s another spot that gives you an amazing bang for your buck. It’s $ 15 per pound of brisket – earning this place some major points. The meat, itself, is alright. It’s a little chewy, but doesn’t lack flavor. And the sauce definitely helps. It’s a Memphis-based sauce with a little smoke. While sweet, it’s never cloying. As far as sides go, the fries are really good, and the beans are well above average. But those are the only ones that stand out. The mac n cheese is flavorless and tastes like Velveeta – whether it is or not. The garlic toast is also a little bland. Meat plates, which come with 2 sides and garlic toast, range from $ 13(1 meat) to $ 17(3 meats). But they allow you to make all of your meats the same kind if you want. I got 2 briskets and a link, since I wanted to try it. The link was VERY good – sweet, not spicy. About 4 years ago, I completed their eating challenge, «The Beast»(a 3 pound pulled pork sandwich), in under 20 minutes to get my picture on the wall. But upon visiting this place yesterday, my picture was not on the wall. I’m kinda disappointed about that. We will be back to Blake’s Place. They give you a lot of food for the price, and it’s not too bad. Although, I wouldn’t recommend doing The Beast if you’re just trying to get your picture on the wall, because apparently they’ve fallen way behind.

I came specifically to try their French Dip. They have their own version using brisket, and oh WOW! It was amazing! Double layer of thick, tender and juicy brisket, double layer of Swiss cheese(.99 extra) all on a soft roll. The au jus it came with was very rich, flavorful and salty. The salt factor was actually good though because the sandwich wasn’t salty at all, so the dip in the rich salty au just makes for a perfect bight! The one thing that did bother me was that the cashier asked, «Grilled onions?» and I said, Yes, that sounds great!” But there were no grilled onions on the sandwich. I think it could have been bumped up from a 10 to an 11 with the grilled onions, meaning — over the top! Not taking a star off for that, but just something to consider. I went around 5 or 6pm on Saturday and there was a little buzz of activity. Seemed like a popular place for the locals. Staff was very friendly and the place was clean. One more comment and that’s about the BBQ. So, I’m not a big fan of BBQ due to the fact that most BBQ is drenched with a heavy layer of sickly sweet BBQ sauce. I do love dry rub BBQ though. Anyway, they popped a little side of BBQ sauce in my bag. I tried it and was very impressed. It was not overly sweet, had a vinegary tart tang to it and a kick of proprietary blend spice mix that made it their own. I would make an exception to my dislike of BBQ sauce to eat their BBQed meat. I’m sure it’s awesome!

Brisket and Baby Back Ribs were very good as were the fries. I wish they had Tri Tip as well as it is one of my favorite BBQ dishes. The portions here are NOJOKE. So much food you could easily share a sandwich between two people and be satisfied. The garlic bread is also very good and I could have continued eating it. I wasn’t a big fan of the Mac and Cheese but I am VERYPICKY when it comes to Mac and Cheese and honestly don’t like most restaurants offerings of it. We will definitely come back to Blake’s in the future. It was a good starting place before brewery hoping in Anaheim/Orange/Placentia.

Yummmmmm! What a great find… in the amidst all the industrial businesses, is this barbecue delight!!! Not easy to find but worth the drive. The friendly service is always on full! The ribs! Tri-tip! Pulled pork! All succulent, moist and flavorful! What a recipe! Thank you! Unilocal and get your free cookie! Make it your stop for barbecue!

Unilocal Challenge 2016. 82⁄116 Who doesn’t like big juicy hunks of mouthwatering meat sliding in their mouth and down their throats. Whether your a breast person, pork picker, rib ripper, you will find your match here. I can’t believe I never reviewed this place! This is one of my favorite BBQ places in Anaheim. I have been coming here since 1999. Between the BBQ chicken sandwiches, pulled pork, brisket, I have never been disappointed. Meats and sides are all super tastey. The Baked beans are AMAZING… chunks of brisket mixed inside. I used to hate beans, but these beans are yummy! Located in East Anaheim in the industrial section. Kind of hard to find, unless your a local. Everything is smoked in house in one of their on site warehouses. Sometimes you can smell the meat cooking. Service has always been super friendly. This place catered our wedding a few years ago on 2 weeks notice. Yea… woke up one day and decided to get married after 11 years. Natasha took care of everything. Food was delivered and set up. Everything was off the hook. Brisket and BBQ chicken chicken for everyone. Our friends liked it so much, that they used Blake’s to cater their wedding too. And the Hubsters family uses Blake’s for their parties as well. Fan for life. #882

Been eating here for about 7 – 8 years. I absolutely love the sandwich sampler. The sweet chili wings are a family favorite. My recommends the south western chicken BBQ salad. I miss the beef ribs but there is enough in the menu to make it my favorite BBQ place in so cal.

Blake’s Place works in a barbecue pinch. Kind of. Blake’s had been on my ‘Cue radar for some time as many Unilocalers have suggested giving them a shot after reading some of my reviews on other barbecue joints in SoCal, most not making the culinary grade. Walking in I sensed Deja Vu and realized that I had actually been to Blake’s before — years ago — at a fund raiser for Unilocaler Chad«Chadams» A. in late 2011 and recalled the food to be marginal even with the great company at the time. I cast that memory aside to give another unbiased try at Blake’s and decided to try the Pulled BBQ Chicken Pile that came in at a very reasonable $ 9.99. Within 10 ten minutes the sandwich arrived and it certainly looked the part. Slow and low smoked chicken is hand pulled and then served on a monstrously large bun and then slathered with BBQ Sauce, then topped with cole slaw, tomato & pickles. At the mere sight on the sandwich I knew the bun/meat ratio was shot to hell(1:1 or worse) and eschewed the crown of the bun immediately and turned the sandwich into an open-faced situation. The Chicken itself was moist and juicy but lacked any real smoke punch. In fact, there was more smoke in the nose than the palette, which was confounding. The majority of the flavor actually came from their house sauce which had a sweet/savory yet tangy profile that I enjoyed very much. The crunch of the cabbage in the slaw along with the tart pickle made for a great mouthfeel and did what it could to make the pile more exciting. I would say the cost to portion is the biggest value proposition in Blake’s favor — for $ 10.00 it was hard to complain with my lunch although it was hardly a superlative barbecue experience. If I find myself in the area I will make it a point to try some of their other items to see if I can get a fourth star out of Blake’s.

Ah, what a hidden gem! I really mean hidden as this place is in the middle of an industrial area where there are hardly good eats. Be prepared, you will need extra napkins to wipe that dribble of bbq drool that runs down your chin after taking a bite of that juicy pulled pork sandwich which I really recommend. They were smart, they put the napkins in the middle of the place where you can just grab to your hearts content. The pulled pork sandwich was so heavenly, it wasn’t overwhelming with bbq sauce but it was so damn juicy with very tender meat. Coleslaw, red onion, and pickles were added into the sandwich and you will also get a side of a slab of pickle. I was a damn mess after I ate this sandwich but I wasn’t ashamed! The wings come in a set of ten, you can divide the flavors if you are so indecisive like me but let me decide for you my friend! The sweet chili and spicy bbq were delicious! Again, not overwhelming nor wet in the sauce, just the right amount but boasting with flavors. The sweet chili was my favorite and the spicy bbq was not spicy at all. If you want spicy, then opt for just the Spicy wings. Don’t forget to check in for your free cookie! Can’t go wrong with the simple choc chip cookies. If you are in the area, I really recommend coming to this place to try out their food at least once. Just forget that diet and go. 5 stars for stealing my heart.

I’m not even done with my meal and I have to review this place again. Once again they’ve out done themselves. Now I’m trying out the pulled chicken & pork loin plate and it’s excellent. I never use to be a big fan of American bbq but now I eat it every time I see a random place on the street. In a way Blakes place ruined all American bbq cuz every other restaurant I try out is so inferior to Blakes. Great job guys!!!

A 3.5 star spot in all reality. Located in the middle of nowhere, literally, my friend and I ended up in Blake’s Place per recommendation of a local car shop I was getting work done at. We conveniently walked over there and tried it out. 1. Parking– I’m not sure how the parking situation was. In all reality I didn’t even pay attention. 2. Restaurant /Ambiance /Atmosphere — A decently sized bbq joint perfect for the local workers in that area wanting a bbq fix. It does sort of have a cramped feeling to it because the tables are pretty close to each other but I’ve seen worse. The spot has a very mom and pops type feel to it so that was a huge plus for me. It was pretty crowded cause we went there for lunch. If I worked in that area I would definitely hit this place up at least once a week for lunch. Prices are fair, it’s fast, fresh and pretty good. — 4⁄5 3. Food — A. Beef Brisket — I ordered this sandwich. To be honest I was underwhelmed with it. It was pretty dry and the meat was pretty bland. I added some sauce to it but it was just an average beef sandwich. Nothing really to make me say wow. The beef tasted whatever but it was fresh for the most part. — 3⁄5 B. Pulled Pork Sandwich — This was my friend’s sandwich and one I should have gotten. Boy oh boy was this one delicious. Extremely flavorful and tender. A huge difference compared to the one I got. This is the sandwich to order at this spot for sure. Having said that I’ve also had better so it’s not a perfect score. 4.5÷5 C. The sides I’ll give them one overall grade. The garlic bread was whatever. It was your average garlic bread maybe even a little drier. I feel like the ones I’ve had from the super market and put in my oven are better. The mac and cheese tasted no better than the ready to make ones from the store. The potato salad was also like the store bought ones. Just average. 2.5÷5 4. Service– This is where this place really shined and won me over. The manager was very nice and checked on our table a couple times while we were there. I checked into the spot and got a free cookie with my meal and he offered to bring my friend one as well. The food came out in a timely manner. There were other workers being attentive to the customers eating. I appreciate that kind of service. — 10⁄10 Total: 24⁄30 ~ 80%(SERVICEMATTERS) I’ll definitely be back here if I ever end back up in this area. Cheers

Not a fancy place, hidden away in an industrial park … this is a hidden gem! Always very clean with fast service! We’ve tried most items on the menu over the past year and today I decided to get the Prime Rib Sandwich. Oh … my … gosh! It was delicious! My husband loves their meal sized salads. Greens, avocados, tomatoes always fresh. Topped with tender, moist smoked chicken breast and just $ 8.99! Since it was Valentine’s Day, we were even treated to a complimentary slice of cheesecake. That was a nice surprise! Manager always walks around and asks customers how their meals are. Cashier today was nice. We went last weekend and the cashier that day had absolutely no personality — probably the same cashier other reviewers have mentioned. My only suggestions for improvement would be that Blake’s offer crinkle fries and improve the mac ‘n cheese to a baked version.

Strange location, but awesome food! Good prone for the $$. I got the brisket pile sandwich and my wife had the smoked wings. The sandwich was huge and tasty. We got a side of onion rings too, which seemed beer battered. Very good too. I’ll be returning to try their other meats for sure!

Blake’s Place is just in the corner, not a big deal when it comes to the location, in fact, its easy to find. They have fine servers like Allen. Went here to have a take out of a plate, it was well made, love how this ones taste, very juicy meat. And if you come here by Friday, dont miss out the Salmon Plate, its much better than the salmon dishes around.

I would pass by this place all the time and finally decided to try it. As we walked in the place smelled amazing. It was our first time trying this place so we didn’t know what to try, when ordering I told the lady helping us that it was our first time hoping she would recommend something delicious. Well it turns out she wasn’t much help. My father in law had a difficult time ordering as well. He was told there were no fries at all. The food was served immediately and smelled great. We asked the server if they had served fried and he said yes. I don’t know if the lady misunderstand my father in law. As we were eating, they sent out a basket of fries at no charge, which was very much appreciated. In the end, the food was great as well as their bbq sauce. Nice and sweet with a kick of spice. Would definitely go back! It’s a must try.

DELICIOUSBBQ! I had lunch here nearly 7 years ago and remember it being good but forgot where it was located since my friend drove. We came a bit after 11am which was a great idea — good parking, no lines to order and the food came out fast! I ordered a tri-tip sandwhich melt with onion rings — it was outstanding! I love the BBQ sauce, the meat was juicy and tender, the bread soft but flaky. I would highly recommend coming but come early!

I was told about this place by a co-worker and it did not disappoint. I didn’t know this place existed it’s in the middle of no where. When I parked my vehicle I could smell the wonderful BBQ coming from the restaurant. I waited in line and it took me a while to figure out what I wanted because there was a lot to choose from. I decided to try a little bit of everything so I ordered the Trio Sandwhich combo. It was sooooo delicious and juicy that I craved more after even though I was so stuft that I had to take some to go. It was just as good the next day as a snack. I highly recommend anyone in the area to give this place a try, you will be hooked. P. S. I didn’t get a chance to try it but the banana pudding in the dessert case next to the register where you order looked delicious… I will be back to order that for sure.

The meat was dry. My garlic toast was cold. But the side dishes were okay. I was hoping to find my bbq gem but didn’t find it here. Paid $ 20 for sub par bbq. Won’t come here again. Went towards the end of September during the week around noon. But the sausage was good.

Let me start by saying this is the first time I ever been to this place. Maybe I ordered the wrong menu item. But i have to say my food had no taste, no flavor, nothing. I ordered a Philly brisket sandwich which I do not recommend. So don’t order it. I have always been curious to eat here since I’ve been passing through this place every day for the past 15 years. I have to say I’m going to have keep on passing by and keeping it moving though. Pros– looks like a very nice place with great people. Con– don’t get the Philly, has no flavor. I really can’t rate this joint but since I have to I’ll give it a one for taking my phone order. And thanks to the girl cashier at the register, she was kind enough to serve me unlike the guy cashier who was to busy to help me out.

Pretty solid barbeque place. I am surprised to find this place opened on sunday although it’s located in the industrial area. The fries were a little soggy/old but the bbq was decent at best. I’d like to give it 2 ½ stars but I’ll round up because it’s a local business. I’ve been here a good handful of times over the last five years. Every time I go I’m just not that impressed. This place is on the grubby side. I know it’s barbecue and peoples hands are sticky and gross but they need to do a better job cleaning throughout the day. A full rack of ribs is $ 23 and that price does not include any sides whatsoever. The choice of sides are limited. Everything is pretty gloppy and heavy. I like the flavor of the baby back ribs but they are not as tender as they should be. You do have to work on them quite a bit to get all the meat off the bone. After writing this review I feel like I should move the stars down to two. It’s probably more accurate. With Lucille’s BBQ around the corner… And prices fairly similar… I’ll keep my barbecue adventures specifically to Lucille’s!

Food is always good here, good portion size and pretty tasty. My only complaint was the new cashier Casey, I spoke to an associate about my encounter and she was understanding. We all have our good and bad days, not sure what her excuse was. I come here regularly and have referred my friends and family’s here, we love a good bbq. The moral of the story is someone learned a few tips on providing customer service. We could all learn something each day. I cant believe I haven’t written a review for this place! This is my number one BBQ pull pork sandwich place in orange county! If you love hearty, flavorful, filling delicious BBQ sandwiches this is the place for you. Its located around an industrial park area in Anaheim and its kind of hidden. I have been coming here for a while and it never disappoints, every sandwich I have tried is pretty amazing. The best part is their homemade BBQ sauces which make their sandwiches even better which is hard to believe considering how amazing they are from the get go. They have 3 different BBQ sauces, tangy, regular and spicy my favorite. You must try their BBQ beans it would be a sin not too. I usually only get their specialty sandwiches since I tend to go for lunch but I should really try their BBQ plates. If you check in you get a free yummy cookie.

I am sorry. But, I am spoiled with good barbecue from the south. Nothing in Orange County, or southern California for that matter, including Blake’s, even comes close. Nothing. And, it is frustrating to have to travel to the south to get good barbecue. If someone would get it right here in southern Cal, they would have great success as there would be no competition. I ordered the Rib Plate that comes with pork spare ribs and a choice of another meat at $ 18.99. I paid an extra $ 2.00 to get baby back ribs. It came with a side of cole slaw, baked beans and two pieces of garlic bread. The baby back ribs were dry, lacked porky flavor and had a very small hint of taste of smoke. There were four small ribs lightly coated with sauce. They were not memorable. Typical southern Cal style of barbecue. Most local joints have no smoke flavor, and bland, tasteless meat. The beef brisket was served in four small pieces. It was dry and had no smoke flavor whatsoever. It was not very good. The cole slaw was pretty good and the baked beans were okay. The highlight of the meal was the house barbecue sauce that was flavorful: a little tart and a little sweet. Good formula and recipe. I just wish Blake’s would get their barbecue meats up to par.
