Magical – Disney’s Nighttime Fireworks Spectacular

What is it about fireworks that brings out the kid in us? It could be the exact formations ever time and I still love it. The experience is especially enhanced while watching it with my kids. I know that Disney spends a ton of money on this and of course, this equates to higher ticket prices but it is so worth it.

Love this firework show! Always makes me feel like a kid again when I watch this.
Usually starts at 9:30 pm. People start to camp out around 7:30 pm. I think the best view is right in front of the Walt statue.
They will cancel the show if its too cloudy or windy. And they will not warn you, they just cancel it at 9:30.
The show has stayed pretty similar for years. Only time it changes is during the holiday season. Currently the 60^th show replaced this one.

Magical is a fireworks show that is shown during the summer at Disneyland.
With this fireworks show, there are many different types of fireworks that project through the night sky. There are also different kinds of color projections on Sleeping Beauty Castle during the duration of the show. Not to mention some pyrotechnic effects as well as some spotlights.
In terms of effects or the variation of fireworks, this is no where near as crazy as other firework shows at Disneyland like Halloween Screams or Remember Dreams Come True. However, the songs really bring this show to life.
The songs are themed around magic. There’s snippets of Disney music and songs from Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Cinderella, Mary Poppins, Dumbo, Enchanted, Sleep Beauty, and Beauty and the Beast.
«Chim chim cheree» from Mary Poppins and «Baby Mine» from Dumbo are sung by Eden Epinosa, a broadway veteran. She has a great powerful voice that’s also soothing.
The dialogue and the fireworks were always in sync. For example, when the fairies from Sleeping Beauty are arguing and one goes, «Blue, blue blue!» When one of the fairies shouted out, «Blue, blue, blue!» the fireworks went off right at each time that she said it. Same for when the other fairy goes, «Pink, pink, pink!»
Along with the fireworks, Tinkerbell and Dumbo fly through the sky at certain intervals. Not at the same time of course! That wouldn’t be a nice collision.
My bf and I were able to get VIP seating with one of our most recent visits. Benches straight center in front of the castle which was a fantastic view of the fireworks.
Overall, this is an amazing fireworks show at Disneyland. Highly recommended!

I know this song way too well. Magical premiered in the summer of 2009 and it’s shown nightly (well…weather permitting) at 9:25pm during the summer season. (May-​beginning of Sept.)
I feel bad for rating this firework spectacular 3 stars only but damn… it’s a tough act to follow from «Remember…Dreams Come True» which was like the grandmother of fireworks. If something can make me shed tears of joy/​emotions, it was that. I know I shouldn’t compare Magical to RDCT but nothing can top RDCT. Sorry…
Ironically, Magical just didn’t have that magical/​special factor. Too long of a Mary Poppins segment. *yawn* Dumbo doesn’t always fly during «Baby Mine.» And when THAT doesn’t happen… it’s disappointing. Isn’t Dumbo flying one of the selling points for this fireworks show? Come on Dumbo… you cannot just not show up whenever you don’t feel like it. This is your job. Don’t let a little bit of wind hold you back. Remember… you don’t need that magic feather to make you fly. ;) And where’s the spinning fireworks wheel? Whenever that’s used in RDCT and Fantasmic, it always gets the crowd ‘oohing and aahing.“
I know Disneyland’s 60^th anniversary is next year… I’d be blown away if their ‘Imaginears’ can conjure up a new fireworks show that will surpass the perfection of Remember… Dreams Come True.

This is one of the better fireworks show disney has put on this year. It was better then the fourth of July show. Seeing dumbo fly makes it even better.

Magical! is a seasonal iteration of Disney’s trademark evening fireworks sendoff. Taking the place of «Remember: Dreams Come True» during the summer months, Magical! tells a story of wishes… get this… coming true. Though at first glance Magical seems smaller in scale when standing next to Remember, the show really packs a visual punch. Lighting and pyrotechnics blend seamlessly and subtly to paint beautiful pictures that compliment the moods of each vignette. In addition, a powerful score featuring soaring vocals provided by broadway veteran and Disneyland alumni, Eden Espinoza, ushers the story through the emotional highs and lows. Guys beware, you might find yourselves a bit misty more than once.
There are a few more surprises in Magical! that make it unique in the world of Disney pyrotechnic storytelling, however, I’d feel like a dumbo if I gave them away.
A tip or two:
Closer is not always better. So long as you can see the castle, the show will be spectacular. Standing further down Main Street can actually enhance the viewing experience (plus you can beat the crowd out of the park).

This fireworks spectacular debuted back in 2009 and has been a summer show since then. «Remember… Dreams Come True» and «Believe… in Holiday Magic» are the other two shows in rotation.
For this show, Sleeping Beauty Castle is the focal point, so for a good seat, you may want to stake out a spot fairly early. With this show, not only does Tinker Bell come out twice (once at the beginning and once towards the end), but another flying Disney character also makes an appearance.
Dumbo! That’s right, Dumbo flies above Sleeping Beauty Castle during the «Baby Mine» segment. When he’s able to, it is really cool to see him soar.
If the area around Sleeping Beauty Castle is full, try Main Street U.S.A., Rivers of America (usually you can catch a glimpse of Tink and Dumbo), or by «it’s a small world». If you want to see both Tink and Dumbo from a totally different view and don’t mind turning your head back and forth for the fireworks, you can always go between King Arthur Carousel and Dumbo (attraction).
Fun Fact: The theme song to «Magical!» is an excerpt of song that was first used in 1993 for Tokyo Disneyland’s 10 anniversary Castle stage show «It’s Magical».

I’m not a huge fan of the summer fireworks mostly because it doesn’t FEEL magical, despite it’s name. This show is known to locals as the «movies» show, as it goes through the popular classics such as Cinderella, Dumbo, Mary Poppins, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty & The Beast and a quick music intro from Enchanted during the princess sequence.
Though I do admit, the part that I DO like most, is when the 3 fairies fight over Aurora’s dress color per the movie «Pink! No! Blue! Pink! Blue!» I also like the very well timed Fairy Godmother’s timing of getting everyone to say all together with her the three magic words: Bibbity, boppity, Boo! in sync with the fireworks.
The show is only happening at the castle and not throughout Main Street like Remember Dreams Come True fireworks are. It also features a flying Tinker Bell (like Remember) but it has a leg up on featuring a flying Dumbo too. However, I must mention this to save you from disappointment: Dumbo is not always there. Sometimes he’s sleeping, or you know stumbling around on his big ears, so he can’t get up to fly all the time.
It’s a shame that the tourists/​non locals/​non regulars don’t get to see the even more spectacular show — Remember — because those are much more magical in my opinion.

Yes, this is the night time fireworks show over Disneyland. Yes, you can see it practically over the park. But, man… do they ever do it up!
We stuck around after Fantasmic ended and actually got better seats by moving up from the stroller access overlooking the Rivers of America stage. With the music choreographed to the fireworks — which I’m not sure is played over the park, giving us a bit of an advantage over watching the show from the Sleeping Beauty Castle area — the show is very breathtaking (and at times, a bit romantic).
Take some time from walking around the park at night to stop and watch the fireworks. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
