Meh. This place is definitely not as vibrant and lively as Past Memories. Their chairs are falling apart. As a matter of fact, I almost fell over because I sat down on a bench and it tilted over :\ And their menu is all handwritten. It does not look presentable at all. Other than that, it’s your average korean bar. Regular priced soju, hite, etc. Although I like Past Memories a lot better, Phinggye’s yogurt soju is so much better.(Hence the 3 stars instead of the 2 I would’ve given this bar)

YES!!! A real-deal Korean bar!!! Is it dark(dimly lit) inside? Check Got Hite? Check. Got Chamisul Soju? Check Got pretty good and all around favorite bar food? Check And of course, they have some other key elements which make this bar the kind of real-deal Korean bar, that I have come to enjoy :)

This place is a Korean diver bar but it’s good for what it is because it has: 1. Korean and English menus 2. Plenty of free parking 3. Plenty of seating including a room for large parties 4. And they have good lapoki(rice cake and ramen in spicy sauce), buttery corn cheese on a skillet(exactly how it sounds), yangyom chicken wings(fried chicken not like your normal American style fried chicken) with Korean seasoning, and pretty decent tofu kimchi(although a bit sparse on kimchi and pork which are the best parts). I really liked the cute girl serving our party of 16 people. She was so chill and friendly… and spoke great English. But if you’re going during winter… layer up. It’s freezing in there.

Oh boy i’ve had a long history with this place almost coming up on a decade! It’s been awhile since i’ve came and the prices do seem to have gone up with the economic inflation but it has the same exact feel to it every time I come here. Sit back with some friends drink soju and korean beers and grub on some anju or even foods. As I get older and stray further from the clubs I think I need more places like this where I can just talk and drink.

This is a pretty cool place to drink and eat at with a bunch of friends. It’s probably better that you go with at least one Korean who speaks English. They don’t speak much English here but that’s not surprising. So first time I went here I was with at least 10 of my Korean friends. We ordered Hite and soju. Of freaking course, they’re IDs weren’t checked because they’re Korean. Long and behold they ask for my ID and I was the oldest one out of the bunch. Psssha! Anyway, the place is dark and gets very cold in the winter. Their food is pretty darn good, I must say. They also give you popcorn for free. I thought it was interesting as I shoved all of it in my mouth before I took a soju shot. Here’s a tip: keep in mind of how much you’re ordering because last time we were there the bill came out to a couple bills and I couldn’t figure out how. Saranghae my ass! Don’t be racist Phinggye. Next time I go have the decency to pretend to check my korean friends’ IDs too.

I think i came here everyday during the ages of 21 – 23. The owners have changed since then but the service has always been great here. I have ALOT of memories from this wonderful place. Decent food and typical Korean bar drinks. When I hit up the OC, we usually still meet here and it looks like things haven’t changed much. If any of you remember, there used to be a huge cartoon mural in the party room. I spent about 3 hours drawing that thing. Whoever vandalized it, I wish pain upon you. All jokes aside, there’s a pool hall, pc game room, and NRB right next door so you can have a night of Drunken Korean Madness in just one Plaza!

Its an A-OK bar. Drinks are decent priced and food is alright. came here with friends got a ptcher of hite; fried sweet potato; and chicken wings. The food was pretty good. loved how the sweet potato had cinnamon sugar on it. and the wings had a pretty bomb sauce that tasted like a mix of siracha and some sweet and sour sauce.

There are some fringe benfits of coming here but I can think of a better place to go to(Past Memories). The décor is dark and dingy the booths have high walls so you can have your privacy but it reminds me of literally a bunker that we made when we were in Iraq. The drinks aren’t a bad price and serve your standard Corean Soju and beer. The food was pretty good! I think homestyle drinking food lol! I’d come back and try it again though!

5 stars for the oppa who gives us massive service!!! :D Heheh well well well~ it’s actually Pingae not Phinggye but who cares~ right?! lol I love this place it’s the only place in town that I haven’t seen drama ever… Other places… Everytime I go there it’s just drama and drama and more drama… Always a fight going down… no good. I love this place also cuhz right after you drink you can walk like 2 feet over to NRB(karaōke) and just sing your drunken heart out HAHAH(: I haven’t really tried the food here so can’t really say much about the food. But, from reading the reviews from my fellow Unilocalers I’m pretty tempted to try it out.

Omg try the cheese Hamburg steak. It is the shit. Wow this entrees is for all the meat lovers out here. Its 14.99 but try making it, it’s harder to make than you think without knowing exactly what ingredients are used. They use a perfect amount of sauce for this item. Not too much nor too little bbq sauce with the melted cheese on top being BOMB. It’s surprising that they use hamburger meat to create such a delicious meat lover’s entrée. This place has great service and is a fun environment for the younger crowd. The carrots and cucumber served with dangjang is a great anju which can be refilled unlimited times. If you drink enough, they do provide service which is free beer food but you better drink alot. Anyways if your Korean and you love to get drunk and eat, this is the place to go

The hostess girl was really nice and very efficient. Kudos to her BUT nothing at her fault(at least I hope not) WOW… I split a bill amongst friends and had my share put on my card which included tip. This place charged me $ 10 more… I don’t know if it was an error thinking that I didn’t include my tip, but they shouldn’t have added that on anyways. Illegal is it not? Interesting… Waiting for a call before I file with my bank to for my refund and report to BBB and Anaheim PD for not checking ID and smoking indoors. Sorry to be a captain no fun for all you other folks. But it is the principle of the matter that I stand firm on writing this on Unilocal.BTW I looked up the Business license info as well, the name is spelled«Ping Ge In Nun Nal» I will update after all is settled.

This place is good for 4 things: Lapoki: Honestly, i am a lapoki snob cuz my parents never make it for me. they tell me it’s unhealthy and BAD for you. BAD! but it tastes SOOOGOOOODDD… and this place is the only place that makes it so tasty Each time. i’ve Never been disapointed, it always tastes the same, tastes great, just enough spicy to make me sniffly but not overly sniffly.(i’m a little weak sauce). It’s a HUGE plate and filled with ddok(rice cakes) that can come a little chewy or soggy but either way for some reason, the spice and the sauce is so good it doesnt really matter. there are fish cakes, ramen, its just so yummy! and i’ve had lapoki at other places and this is by far the best hands down!!! every friend i’ve brought there also agreed, korean or non korean! Chicken Wings: I like the yyangyom chicken wings(covered in a spicy/sweet sauce). they are so delicious! the chicken wings are Crispity! thats my favorite!!! and the sauce is so good too… and it comes w/coleslaw and just like one of the best chicken wing places i’ve had… Corn Cheese: Corn + Cheese on a HOT stone plate = Amazing! it’s so delicious. i think they might also have some butter and mayonnaise because it’s so much better than just like canned corn and cheese. or maybe the stone plate makes the difference. Either way, it’s just tasty! The burned parts are the best! Yogurt/Strawberry Soju: I’m not a drinker, and i love the yogurt soju. mmm mmmm! so good! These 4 items are what i would suggest! i’m sure the other stuff is good too but these are like Staples in the 4 food groups of Ppingye. **Things to watch out for: it’s easy to miss because the plaza looks a bit defunct and there’s not an immediate sign except for an «OPEN» sign near the door. They play fun korean music sometimes from the 90s too! yaaay! Parking is ok but sometimes it can get crowded OR have some rowdy peeps around, and sometimes people seem to be driving drunk or just horsing around so be careful! It’s next to a karaōke place and that’s always fun to hop over to after(or before) eating… Press the bell if u need service… normally they are pretty friendly!

I’m not sure if I would actually call this place a «bar» since it’s set up more like a restaurant. My friends and I are probably the only non-Koreans that go there. First time we went, we brought a friend who is Korean but he wasn’t very helpful. The server couldn’t speak much English, however he took down all of our orders and responded to our«rings» in less than a second. I love how all the Asian places have a door bell-like ringer by the table for services. We ordered bunch of soju and big bottle of Hite beers. I love the snacks they give us for free; cucumber, carrots, kimchi, and a basket of popcorn. They have BOMB azn style chicken wings. Probably the best I’ve ever had and I am not a wings type of gal. On my last visit, we had a super nice server who spoke fluent English!!! BAM! 5STARS! Perfect place to go with group of friends and maybe go karaōke afterwards next door. I’d totally recommend this place if you are not intimidated by Koreans and darkness.

Right next to OK501 Karaōke, this place doesn’t even seem to have a name… or at least according to my friend. It doesn’t seem to have a particular sign that I remember. Once you enter, you’ll notice it’s a run-down looking bar/restaurant, which also usually is an indicator that they serve the afforemented blue collar-style foods and drinks… especially those old-school, steaming, hot spicy Korean bar food. My friend swore this place had the best Lappoki(ramen with spicy rice cakes) ever… and, actually I quite agree It’s not that it’s amazing, but it was just much tastier than other places I’ve been to. Spicy as it was, I kept on eating. Other stuff, many of which I don’t remember(some chicken, some corn, some other stuff) were quite good as well. I do also remember the price was very reasonable. As bar food goes, I really enjoyed the food here. About eight of us came and sat in this dank-looking room with wooden tables. we ate, talked, ate more. Good food. Good talks. Will come again for that Lappoki(interesting given that I’m usually just an ok-fan of Lappoki).

I vowed to myself that I’d never go to another Korean bar again! Well, except when it’s a birthday party. Then I’d have to go, regardless of venue. So, when a friend decided to celebrate his 27th at Pinggye, of course I had to go. Nothing’s different from the way it’s always been. However, it is important to note that this seems to be the only«chill» Korean bar in the area, as JooDaeLi and KolMokGil are overrun by teenage thugsters, and my beloved Khan is no more. I didn’t eat/drink anything that night, but there were about 50 people there, crammed into the back room and the back two booths, and… there were quite a few serious drinkers in the bunch. Also, even before I got there, the group seemed to have chowed down on gamja tang, odeng tang, cuttlefish, and all sorts of other things. So someone please explain. Why the entire bill came out to under $ 300? Please. Explain.

This place is pretty chill. Its a block down from Joo Dae Lee, located in a plaza next to a karaōke place(good place to sober up). Nothing special about this place but the food is pretty good. If you’re a guy, go with some girls so they can order their soju cocktails because its freaking good and I don’t have the guts to order it myself. Only down side to my experience here was that our server had some mad B.O. Didn’t know that Koreans got that shit. Just smoke at your table to mask the smell. Problem solved.

Pronounced«ping-gae,» this is another Korean dive bar on Lincoln Avenue. Just a few blocks from San Jang. It’s in a small plaza next to a restaurant and a karaōke place. The food isn’t great, but it’s pretty good. Decent chicken wings and«corn cheese.» If you need something warm to counter the soju and beer, get the o-deng soup [fish cake soup] or «budae jjigae» [kim chee stew with ham, sausage, and veggies]. When the drinks are flowing, we always get freebies. We always have a great time here, so that counts for something. It’s a nice place to hang out and enjoy beer, soju, or soju cocktail. If you’re ordering beer, get the Hite bottles. Don’t bother with the pitcher which doesn’t taste as good. If you’re allergic to smoke, avoid this place. It’s one of the few dives that allow smoking inside.(unless there are cops walking around outside). There is a karaōke place next door, so you can sober up before your trek home.
