What happened to my Ruth Chris? The menu has been revamped. They don’t have the beefsteak tomato and onion salad. Ive only been eating this salad for 20 years. The bbq shrimp was delivered almost cold on a plate. I remember when it would be delivered sizzling hot in a ramekin. The walnut blue cheese salad I ordered was horrible. Completely drenched in dressing and limp with no real blue cheese taste. I don’t know if the apples were pickled or just limp from being over dressed. Not good eats. The corn although fresh, tasted like something I could get out of a can. The steak was just mediocre too. The bread pudding was so bad no one wanted to eat it. Where is the whiskey bread pudding? The only positive thing ended up being the fact that we could still order the berries and cream even though it’s also been taken off the menu. We come here for the decadent food experience which is now sadly lacking.

So many Steakhouses in OC but Ruth Chris is a must try! Great apps and of course steak. Loved my filet and a variety of side dishes to chose from! Oh and dessert was yummy too

Sadly, I wasn’t impressed with the steak here. I was here for a convention and I had known that they were extremely busy. filet Mignon– steak was overcooked. It was supposed to be medium, but there was no pink in it at all. Cesar salad– way over dressed with dressing. Surprised, that they Ruth Chris didn’t know how much dressing is too much… Literally drenched in dressing. rib eye– also overcooked. This was supposed to be medium rare and noticed that it was barely pink. crab cakes– These were probably the best thing there! Great lumps of crab. fries– point on the fries! Delicious creamed spinach– eh, not my type of creamed spinach brussel sprouts– amazing! Cooking it in bacon juice made it that much tastier. Definitely, get the brussel sprouts chocolate ice cream– great way to end a meal with some chocolate. Perhaps, the night was extremely busy for Ruth Chris, but was still hoping their steaks would be on point. Get the crab cakes, brussel sprouts and fries!

Not too salty or buttery steaks. I like this place way more than maestros in costa mesa. A lot of people choose costa mesa over this place because of its high class ambience. But this place has got it too. Remember to bring cash for valet.

We went to Ruth’s Chris last night for our seventh anniversary. When we walked in the door they confirmed that it was our anniversary and congratulated us, which was nice. They also put confetti on our table. At first we were seated near the bar near the TV, so my husband asked if we could be moved. We were quickly accommodated, which was great. The service was excellent. We were very pleased with our waiter and the server who continually filled our water glasses. We never felt rushed, which was also really nice. Usually when we go out to eat we’re done pretty quickly because everything happens so fast. The food was amazing. We started with the calamari appetizer, which was so delicious. It was probably my favorite part. Then we had a Caesar salad, which was light and fresh. My husband ordered the petite ribeye, which was the best steak he had ever had. I ordered the petite fillets with shrimp, which were also delicious. I’m not a huge steak person, but even I could tell it was good meat. Next time I think I will order it medium instead of medium well. After we were done with our meal, they brought us a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. It was delicious, and a very nice gesture on their part. Lastly, the restaurant itself is beautiful. The lighting and blown glass details were interesting to look at, and the full glass wall on one end of the restaurant was pretty cool too.

Had a reservation for 4:30 on a Saturday. we were seated within a few minutes. Our server Eric was very pleasant and made some recommendations for us to try and we were not disappointed. For starters he recommended the Crab Stack($ 19). all I can say is this has mango, avocado, etc with lump crab meat on top. delicious! For our main course we ordered the tomahawk ribeye steak 40oz($ 115). he said if we ordered it the manager would come out and filet it and serve to us. we ordered it medium rare and it was perfectly cooked. Its big enough for two, so perfect for couples. For our side we ordered the lobster mac and cheese($ 19). not my favorite, i’m more of a fan of Mastro’s lobster mashed potatoes, but still a delicious side for my ribeye. they do offer more sides, such as sweet potato casserole and asparagus, which i will try next time. Since it was my hubby’s birthday he was given a chocolate cheesecake dessert and our tot was given some vanilla ice cream. both were very very happy! Service was great, not snobby and pretentious. Eric, Moises and others always checked on us to ensure we had our glasses full. Even the manager came back to check on us.

So disappointed with this place. I love steak and this was supposed to be a good one, but man did they disappoint. Went here because I was in a hunt for great steak(Mortons is still the best one) but this one didn’t even go on my top 5. If you are a steakhouse, you should know how to serve your steak in the right temperature. I understand that you put it in a hot plate, but it should not change temp from the kitchen to the table that quick unless our steak has been out in the kitchen for a while and delivered to our table late. Also, the brussels sprouts, we’re too oily, greasy. It just wasn’t happening or maybe just an off day at the kitchen. Sad to say won’t be returning.

I was very impressed that they were able to seat of group of 7 without a reservation in about 5 minutes after our arrival. The restaurant itself is beautiful with high ceilings a large windows. The wait staff could not have been any better. They were polite, efficient and helpful. The food was delivered quickly and perfectly cooked. I enjoyed the $ 45 «set menu» which includes salad or soup, entrée, side dish and dessert. The portions were the perfect size for me. I have shied away from Ruth’s Chris in the past because it always seemed like it would be a place for a special occasion only but no more. I will be happy to return here any time.

I love it here, been here multiple times since I live down the street. They usually have specials and participate in restaurant week every year. This time we had the spicy lobster to start off. It was delicious, a bit tangy and spicy. The portion was rather small but we weren’t expecting it to be a huge portion. Spicy lobster was around $ 20 for the plate. We ordered the porterhouse steak for two and man was it filling! We didn’t even finish it and took the rest to go. The porterhouse was great. We asked for medium rare and each piece we had was delicious! Crazy how much of a difference the meat tastes on each side of the bone! The porterhouse was about $ 120. For dessert we had the bread pudding with some sort of whiskey sauce. I’m not a big fan of bread pudding but when I tried it, it was something different. Super moist all around and the whiskey sauce added a kick to it. And the portion was huge for dessert. Overall, it was tasteful. I also ordered a few blackberry side car… one of the best mixed drinks I’ve every had. If you like cognac, this is a great choice. Blackberry side car cost about $ 14 for a glass. Staff was friendly, especially our waiter. The lighting was a bit dim and they sat us right next to some bright blue lighting which kind of hurt my eyes after a while. But overall, great service as always.

We had dinner reservations for 4 to celebrate my birthday. When were seated in the bar area I was a little unhappy because they were showing the«big» football game on TV. Of course the crowd was loud. Then my Filet Mignon was served butterflied when I specifically asked for it not to be served that way. Other than the ambiance being ruined for my birthday, the food and service was great.

After dining in several steakhouses I have to say Ruth’s Chris is by far my favorite spot. Everything from the food to the ambiance. Top notch all the way. Last time I was here was for my GF’s birthday and we just had a great evening. She had Filet Mignon(medium) medallions with jumbo shrimp and I had the Cowboy Ribeye(medium rare). Both steaks were juicy and flavorful. The previous times that we’ve been here I’ve had the whole Filet Mignon steak and it is just the best I’ve ever had. They serve all the steaks in a crazy hot plate and when they bring them to your table the butter on top of the steak is literally sizzling!

What can I say about Ruth Chris that hasn’t already been said in over 1000 reviews? We made somewhat last minute reservations through the Unilocal link on a Sunday night. I indicated that we were celebrating a birthday. When we arrived, we were seated promptly and our server greeted us by sprinkling birthday confetti on the table. Well… that was a nice touch.(Hey, I’m a girl whose Asian parents never celebrated birthdays … so these things matter in my adulthood!) Service was amazing … our server was really attentive and we bantered back and forth. Nothing felt rushed even though the restaurant was closing. The food itself was somewhat disappointing: one of our steaks was bloody rare instead of medium rare, the lobster mac and cheese was watery(like, do you have a strainer?) with chunks of flavorless lobster, and the au gratin potatoes were too cheesy(and looked like crap.) Based on the food and the price, I wouldn’t come back here — I prefer Fleming’s, or I would try another steakhouse instead.

My husband and I have been a fan of Ruth’s Chris since our first experience in 2010. We always raved about the food and the service. Til then, it was always five stars for us. Then yesterday happened. I made reservations online and noted that we were celebrating our one year anniversary of being married and noted we had a toddler and will be needing a high chair. We get there and the host asks us if we need a high chair, obviously she did not read my notes. We got seated in the bar room away from everyone else. The food was great, but the service was pretty awful for Ruth’s Chris standards. Usually after every course, someone comes and clears your plates and crumbs off your table. No one came until the next round of food, and the crumbs/food that dropped on the table remained on the table. Our water cups were empty for a long period of time. We ordered two Ruth’s Chris classic pre-fixed meal and got one dessert to share. I thought I ordered two meals and each comes with dessert? I’m not sure if it was because they were closing, but we felt a little neglected. Also noticed there was no confetti on the table, as I noted we were celebrating our first year anniversary, obvious again that the host did not read my notes. This dinner was supposed to be special, but the service made us feel otherwise.

I’ve been to different Ruth Chris’ in California and I can say this is the nicest looking one. The reason for the 4 stars was because of several things. Now if this was sizzlers, I wouldn’t complain but… Anyways the hostess was too casual and sat unprofessionally for a nice restaurant. Some of the wine glasses had light lipstick marks and some of the appetizer plates were not clean. Besides that, the experience was good and my mother enjoyed her birthday meal. They even bought her dessert for her birthday. That was nice.

I’ve visited this location on two separate occasions. Once for my father-in-law’s birthday, and then again for my hubby’s birthday. Amaaaaziiiing. I am NOT a huge meat-eater, meaning, I don’t eat a lot of beef. BUT, I can appreciate a nice Filet Mignon — especially if accompanied by sides of mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and then followed by berry cobbler. MAN! So good. As both my visits were for birthdays, the staff greeted us very warmly, wishing us a happy birthday and even decorated our tables with confetti. We also got a special dessert for the birthday boys! This place is definitely a higher-end restaurant, due to the class and excellent service you’ll experience. What a well-run institution! I will always recommend Ruth’s Chris Steak House to friends… well, at least all the meat-lovin’ ones!

Seems like 2015 I’m going to get either the award of the procastinator or the amnesic of the year :( I was positive that this review was up and running, not in scratch… Anyway… Why did I go to Ruth Chris?(this is a steakhouse, and I’m not big fan of meat, seafood maybe, but beef not really) Well, my lovely mother decided to spend her birthday with her«bundle of joy»(LOL!!!) I made the reservation and there we were all ready to celebrate her 2 birthday in Californication ;) the other one was long ago, the same day I graduated from Chapman ;) The place is lovely, when I made the reservation they asked me about the occasion and they gave us a great table, nicely decorated, special for the birthday lady. The service was perfect, they went the extra mile to accommodate and explain the dishes, which I really appreciated: try to translate all the meat cuts to Spanish, again I’m not a meat-lover, so it was challenging to my interpreting skills. Bottom line my mom ordered filet mignon and I ordered salmon. All paired with a glorious pinot noir(I finally was able to recruit my mom to the legion of the Pinot-Noir-lovers) The wine list was superb! Of course se ordered desserts: me Crème Brûlée(I know, I’m so predictable!). My mom was more adventurous, she ordered Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce. Both were heavenly!!! They also gave a to go cake, nice touch ;) After the meal we were checking the other side and the bar is quite nice, Interesting HH(I must go back to check it out) Sorry my lovelies I barely have pictures, most of them are in my broken old phone :(I’ll post some from my mom’s FB Lovely place, for sure I’ll be back! Highly recommended for special occasions.

Large slabs of meat on sizzling plates. Be careful. The plates will burn u. Got the surf and turf. Love that they unshelled lobsters for guests. Everything is a good size serving. Sides to share. Very good service and prompt refills. The meal leaves very little room for dessert but I loved the strawberry shortcake little bites.

When you are in convention center land, sometimes you need to have a steak dinner with colleagues. We chose Ruths Chris and good thing we did. The front desk sat us immediately and off we went into steak land. I ordered the surf and turf, a favorite of mine and whoa boy… yummmmmmmy… I immediately put my lobster pieces in the hot butter and waited patiently for heaven on earth. In the meantime, I worked on my prime cut. When I was done with the turf, I moved to the surf. I wish you could taste the soft, tender lobster the way I did. Enough reading, go get some

The King of the Road ist zweifelos ein Opus One 2008.
