Scenic Art And Caricatures

We have come to Brooke for caricatures twice now! The first time was dapper day fall 2013 and also yesterday for spring 2015 dapper day! We just love Brooke’s work and he is a pleasure to chat with during the extended time you have to sit for a caricature! I think we just might have a new tradition!

ABSOLUTELY SURPRISED THIS PLACE HAS LITTLE TO NO REVIEWS!!!
So as celebration for renewing the now discontinued Southern California passes, I took my girlfriend to get our caricature done! We had always seen people getting there caricatures done either outside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride or alongside Ariel’s Grotto in DCA and had always wanted to try getting them done ourselves. I mean, who doesn’t want to see what other people — outsiders — think you look like? It is like looking at yourselves through another person’s perspective, something which I think is near close to priceless in my personal opinion.
Anyways, the cost is as follows:
$ 17 per person for side portrait
$ 32 per person for front portrait
$ 13.95 per frame for your caricature
Note: each caricature comes with color, not to worry & they take cash/​card
Now back to the caricatures. You pay up front for your work of art and are lengthy at about an hour in length to completely finish. Also, we came at around 6pm at night and were told to come back at 9:45pm for our appointment. The person we had doing our caricature was an awesome individual known as Selina! her tag says she is from Burbank, but after talking with her, she explained how she was actually from West Hollywood. Selina’s work was really well drawn, and had I typed up my review on my Galaxy, which would have taken forever to do, I would have uploaded a picture of how our caricature came out. Maybe later. Anyways, it is certainly and experience and quite fun getting your caricature done, with everyone watching and all.
Tip: Our caricature artist explained how it takes at least 1 – 2 hours just to get to work everyday, M-​F. I understand that you pay up front for the caricatures, but make sure to tip your artist! they have to go through the 15 minute tram ride and check point just to get into the park just like you do, which adds a lot of time and effort to the job. Make their day worth it!

After riding the Pirates of the Caribbean we walked around and I noticed this Caricature Booth. Two of the artist were busy so I approached a gentleman standing by the booth and asked how long the wait would be. He said if we are interested, I can make a reservation but I would need to pay in advance. After paying he instructed us to come back at 9:20pm. I asked how long it would take to finish the drawing, he said for each person it would be 30 minutes, so a total of one hour for my daughter and I.
We arrived on time and the artist was finishing up his drawing so we waited for a few minutes. We sat down and Leonardo introduced himself and asked for our names. He drew my daughter first, then I was next. It didn’t feel like it took an hour, it was quick. While we were sitting down, people watched the Fantasmic Show and we heard the music and saw the fireworks. When Leonardo finished, he asked if we wanted our names written on the drawing and also asked what background color I preferred. The drawing needed to dry so Leonardo told us to come back in 15 minutes. When we came back and our drawing was ready!

I am happy and satisfied with Leonardo’s drawing. My daughter constantly moved around but Leonardo was very patient with her. He was pleasant to speak with and polite. Thank you Leonardo!
