Boo… All I wanted a saucy cheesy potato! I asked if the cheddar ranch was powder and the guy at the window said no. I said, «alright cool I want the cheesy kind of sauce and add jalapeño please.» He smiled politely took my credit card charged me two dollars more because I was using a credit card. Screw it, I looks worth it I thought. Got my potato and it was dusted with an orange powder. I explained that I had asked & well that’s not what I wanted and that’s why I asked. Right? Lol. He didn’t want to take it back. The man who took my order then offers to add cheese sauce for a dollar more. Ah that was so lame. He didn’t even give me a receipt to prove I paid for jalapeños. I feel punked.

Seriously, WTF? $ 10 for a spiral cut potato? I don’t care how fantastic it tastes, that is robbery! They made an appearance at an elementary school function. The one potatoes cost more than a plate of BBQ ribs, a side, and a drink. Insanity!

This is a review for their business, not the food. I’ve had their potato swirls, and they are very good. BUTTHEYHAVETERRIBLE service! We contacted them to participate in a food truck fundraiser for our Spring Carnival. Checked on their availability almost 2 months before the event, they said they’d be happy to participate. Checked back 2 weeks before the event to confirm they would show, got a verbal confirmation, but they suddenly failed to reply to any e-mails. And then their contact phone number suddenly only went directly to voicemail. Frantic e-mails, calls, and even a Facebook private message resulted in no response. I had a terrible feeling that they were going to be a no show, and I was right. Day of the event, nothing. TOTALNOSHOW! DONOTTRUSTTHEM!

Just finished having a zucchini tornado at the upland lemon festival. It was pretty ok. Nothing really special, just ok. Not worth the $ 7. Needed more flavor besides the ranch dressing.

You can’t pass this truck and not try out one of their flavors. My friend and I got the garlic flavor and it was fantastic. Very garlic-y, crispy and just tasted great. This is a must try for any carb lover.

Tried this truck at the Lunar New Year Festival at Qualcomm stadium in San Diego. Had the Screwdriver and the Zucchini. Amazing! I was literally blown away. Who ever thought of this food truck is a pure genius because it’s something you don’t see done to a potato! Screw fries! I’m always gonna order the screwdriver every time they come aroundZ. Prices are Reasonable! Think about how much it cost them to even run a truck and staff like that. Thanks Richard and Chris for the memories. Great concept too! Do I hear franchising opportunities?!

If I can give a zero I would. I am a choir teacher who did a food truck fundraiser and invited Tornado Potato as one of our vendors. Many people liked their food but before I can speak with them about how much they made and collect our profit before the end of the night, they left. What made things worse is they claimed to have mailed a check to our school but has not responded back to me about the check number so I can search for it. This has ruined my experience with this food truck because they are unprofessional and in my opinion«unethical.» I am willing to change my review(base it on their food and pricing) if this food truck does what is right– give the school what is rightfully theirs and contact the choir teacher immediately. Unfortunately, their will be many students and staff members posting reviews following my post. They are all upset that Tornado Potato did this to them as well. Sorry Tornado Potato. This could have been a great review if you just focused on ethical practices more specifically on the business side. We hope no one else has to go through this again.

I’ll admit it, Tornado Potatoes look pretty cool! I’ve always seen people eating these spiraled potato skewers and was curious to try one, so when I finally had the opportunity, I jumped in line! I got the Original Tornado Potato, which includes one choice of seasoning flavor. I decided to get Garlic Parmesan, since I wanted something savory. This thing is huge! I must have ordered it when I was hungry because for some reason, I thought that I could finish the whole thing by myself. I could not. They use one WHOLE potato to make these things! The Garlic Parmesan is dusted on to the entire potato, so it can get pretty messy. The overall taste was pretty good, and I liked that the edges of the potato were slightly crispy. The wait can definitely be a while(but what food truck doesn’t take long?), so try not to order one of these when you’re starving… I did, and that’s probably why I thought I could finish it by myself! It’s definitely fun to try once, or when you’re craving starchy goodness!

Have had this a few years ago and the Classic/original was pretty tasty. This most recent trip was disappointing. The Sweet one was dry/overcooked. Lacked moisture and flavor. Would suggest using yams and/or a glaze/frosting or marshmallows. Next up I’d like to try the zucchini; it looks really good.

I was in Chinatown, Los Angeles when I saw this food truck. The«tornado potato» originated in South Korea. It’s a street food specialty over there. As a fan of Korean food, I was excited when I saw this food truck, I’ve always wanted to try it I ordered the Cajun flavored«Original Tornado Potato» since it’s the cheapest on the menu($ 6.50) and I love Cajun spices OK, it tastes EXACTLY like the Cajun fries found in the Five Guys restaurants. Only difference is that it’s in a different shape and form. It tastes really good since I’m a huge fan of French fries I’d give this food truck five stars if only the prices were a little cheaper. It’s pretty high, it tastes like French fries which of course, is really cheap. Still, would I come back and try the other flavors offered such as «truffle?» Definitely, I still recommend this food truck for bringing this South Korean specialty to America

These guys make a spiral whole potato. You can put a spicy Louisiana hot, a Portuguese or an all-beef sausage in the middle, add any number of seasonings and/or chili and nacho cheese. I had a plain with all-beef. I think they deep fry the whole thing. The sausage is tasty. The potato is greasy. It was $ 8 which is steep considering you can get a decent hot dog and fries elsewhere for a few bucks. Multiple people asked if they had coffee. No, they don’t but they do have a berry lemonade for 3 buck fitty. For me this was a try one time thing. Probably won’t go back unless they were the only ones around.

If you like French fries, you’re going to like Tornado Potato. One of these potatoes on a stick will cost you about $ 6.50 or more but you get to pick the flavorings that go on it. I chose garlic parmesan since I didn’t feel like cinnamon & sugar. Of course once I had it in hand, along with my cup of strawberry lemonade, people kept asking me what it was that I was eating. It’s a spiral cut potato on a stick, folks. Service was good. The wait time was about 10 – 15 minutes but once I had that freshly fried potato, I doused it with ketchup and sriracha which was probably the best thing ever. The potato was hot and fresh. The texture is slightly crispy which was good and I thoroughly enjoyed eating it. I had to duck inside the OC Mart Mix since it was ridiculously hot outside. That sounds funny writing this now since it’s 20 degrees cooler today. If you see them and are in the mood to indulge, then try it. I would recommend sharing it unless you want all the calories for yourself.

At the 2013 Las Vegas Foodie Fest, the Tornado Potato truck saved me from having to wait in any more hour-long lines. For, I was able to combine meat protein and potato in a single order by selecting a Sausage Tornado with Hawaiian Portuguese Sausage. Oily swirls of fresh potato curled around a slightly sweet, slightly spicy and flavorful sausage impaled on a stick, and filled me up nicely after quickly downing a Lobster Roll from the The Maine Lobster Lady truck. This tall edible tornado was even better after dipping the potato in ketchup and the sausage in mustard provided by the Tornado Potato truck. I found it to be a great improvement over a Hot Dog on a Stick. And, Diane’s version of a Tornado Potato, dipped in cinnamon and sugar, was a tasty cyclonic dessert. Greasy fun!

After seeing an impressive photo of their tornado potato, I followed this truck to the OC Great Park. For $ 8, I got the sausage potato with the beef polish sausage. The sausage potato visually isn’t as impressive as the original potato because it is not as tall. It’s about ½ the height so that the sausage is the same length as the potato. Photo: The potato also comes out very oily because they serve it to you right away from the fryer. It doesn’t sit for a moment to let the oil drip away. So blot while you eat! I’m not sure if this is just with the sausage potato, but some of the potato was under cooked. The sausage was a little dry and over cooked. It was similar in texture to a slim jim. It was still flavorful. I’m already thinking about what I will order the next time I visit. Original Potate($ 6) and pay the extra($ 1) for nacho cheese on top. They accept credit cards using the Square app.

The novelty of holding on to a pimped-out potato is probably the biggest draw for this truck. It really does look cool, even if you’re not quite sure how to eat it properly. Be ready to explain to curious onlookers what exactly it is that you’re holding. I made the mistake of getting the plain tornado potato. For the price, it’s really not worth it, and really we’re looking at a two-star experience here for me. But giving them the benefit of the doubt that the seasoned potatoes are way better, I’m bumping it up to three stars.

I think I heard for an extra couple of bucks they’ll wrap a deep fried potato around your weiner… Listen, I ain’t into stuff THAT kinky… not off a food truck anyways. I’ll just have it dusted with Cheddar Ranch thank you very much. Cuz I’m a classy son of a bitch.
