World of Color Picnics With Reserved Viewing

My husband got the fried chicken meal… he hated it. I got the vegetable wrap meal… yuck! Only good thing about it was the couscous. Both daughters got the lunchbox classic… said the cupcake was disgusting. The Uncrustable and apples were fine. But $ 16 for a pb&j, apple slices and a super dry cupcake??? Disney is really pushing it. We paid for it thinking we would get a great seat for World of Color with no waiting. WRONG! First, after 3 long days at the park all we wanted to do was SIT. There is no sitting except for handicapped. Second, you are guaranteed a standing part in a section with many others. That’s it. And it’s first come, first served so they advise you to get there an hour early so you can be up front in your section. We showed up at 7:30, World of Color was at 8:15. We were in the back. My kids couldn’t see much of the show. So, so, sooooo disappointing. Nearly $ 80 spent on disgusting lunches and not even a good SEAT to see the who. By far, the BIGGEST waste of $$. World of Color was AWESOME!!! But you don’t need to be right up front to enjoy it, we learned that too late. Knowing what we know now, we’d show up 5 minutes before the show and find a place up higher than the crowd in front and save ourselves time and a lot of $$. DO NOT PURCHASE THESE PICNIC MEALS!!! TOTAL WASTE!!!

My Mom, kids and I did this deal in March of 2013. We all thought the meals were great. Yes, they are cold, which is explained on the website when purchasing. My only complaint was with the viewing area. We had to squish into an area and wait with a ton of other people, and we got totally soaked for the show. We couldn’t really see because of the crowd around us. I would do the lunch again (tasted great and «felt» healthier than other choices around the park), but not bother using the tickets.

Definitely not worth the money at all. My wife and I got this deal a couple of years ago thinking that this would be a great experience, however it turned out to be the total opposite. We both got chicken for our picnic meals and it was frozen to the bone. How the heck are you supposed to eat chicken this way? We went around to surrounding restaurants to see if they could heat up the food for us, but they refused to do so as it was against their policy. After the show we went back to the kiosk to ask the employees why this was served cold. Their response was «that’s the way it comes and we’ve informed people about this on the website.» Even if this was the case how do you expect customers to give good feedback if the food is not edible?
I believe Disney needs to do a better job about this situation. They should either preheat the food before the customers come pick it up or they should provide microwaves so that people can heat up the food themselves. It doesn’t seem that hard to provide such a service.

Update — tried this again in early October and there was no special picnic-​only line this time, possibly because it was an only-​one-​show night. However, the pass was still Yellow & I still got my desired spot, so I will continue to use this option in the future.
My husband really enjoyed the food, as did I (again). I can see how it’s not to everyone’s taste, though. The Taste of Asia one is somewhat lighter, healthier fare than many other Disneyland offerings.
I also realized this time around that the way it all works might seem deceptive or confusing to the uninitiated. In order to stand in front for WoC, I still queued up well over an hour before the show, even on an offseason Thursday. It’s what you must do to get the best spot, and buying the picnic (or any WoC dining option) does not change that fact.

I see that a lot of the other reviews complained about the cold meals. I ordered the vegetarian meal and it was perfect because it needed to be cold. I really liked the veggie wrap. The two side salads were good, but needed a little more seasoning. The meal was probably a lot healthier than anything else I would have eaten.
I think it’s worth it if you aren’t going to be in the park in the morning and can’t get a fast pass ticket. I am not familiar with all the color sections. The picnic ticket is the yellow section and I don’t know if that’s the same section as the fast pass. We lined up right around 7 for the 9pm show, so there was a lot of waiting around. However, the show was awesome and worth the wait.

The most disappointbi havever experienced in Disneyland after 21yr of coming yo idsney. This trip has been ruined and my magical moment has been destroy. This a farcry from any happiest place on earth. I have never felt worse than having tobe forced to buy a nasty, cold meal just so i may watch the world of color the first time ever. Thanks Disney and your greedy tactics of selling nasty food at a premium rather than releasing these fastpass tix

Okay, so the meal doesn’t exactly work the way it sounds, but It’s a pretty good deal if you work it correctly.
It seems like the meal includes a place to sit while you watch world of color, but this is not the case. You get a picnic meal and essentially a fastpass for world of color.
If you are pressed for time this deal will get you a fastpass for world of color without the wait and a meal including a drink for $ 15. Not a bad deal if you ask me. There are picnic tables to eat at by the pick-​up location. We ate dinner at the tables and then walked to the «yellow viewing area.» The area was pretty full but there was room for us, we could see well, and we didn’t have to wait in any long lines.
We all got the taste of Asia meal and it was good. Enough food for dinner. Nothing was outstanding, but it was yummy.

Wow. After reading these reviews, I’m glad I didn’t purchase a $ 15 picnic meal. My bf and I came here for dinner at around 5:30pm and while waiting in line for about 15 minutes, we were told they were sold out on all the meals except for the cold fried chicken… I was disappointed that we weren’t told this when we were in line but to make up for the wait, I ended up getting a «glass» of Riesling wine for ~$ 8. When I say «glass», it ended up being a really really small plastic wine glass that was only filled half way. There was so little wine for $ 8, I kind of felt ripped off… Anyway, next time I’ll make sure to make reservations at the restaurant next door for dinner. Too bad it was so busy that night that they weren’t taking walk-​ins.

My cousin, siblings and I went and purchased the picnic and show deal, and like everyone here, it was completely disappointing. I thought it was completely deceiving, since I thought we would have been seated in the reserved viewing section, like the dinner and show deal over at Ariel’s Grotto. Sadly, we got the Yellow Section.
The entrees were cold. I think the least they should have done was to properly heat it before serving it, instead of freezing them up in their large coolers, which was stacked with piles of these little picnic boxes.
I do remember what I got. The American themed picnic. The only thing good was the potato salad, as it was served in its correct temperature. The chicken was stone cold and the apple pie, I just gave it to my sister.
Complete waste of money. At the time, it was $ 15 or so bucks. The only good thing was that we were able to maneuver our way in towards the front of the mass Yellow section crowd and be able to see the show.
STAY AWAY!

It’s been a while since I’ve been to Disneyland, but I remember this deal very well.
My cousin was planning the trip and found this deal along the way. At first glance it seems like an awesome deal which was why I okay with it, but I had a feeling there would be a catch… and I was right. The meals were a complete drag. $ 15 isn’t exactly enough to get a glamorous meal, but what we got was an abomination.
When you read the choices you have, the meals sound delicious but in the end you get the cheap-​o, cold version of your meal. Everything is pre-​packaged and isn’t reheated for you which I find really strange. I remember my cousins got fried chicken… that should not be served cold at all. I lucked out because I got the European dish which consisted of cheeses, cold meats, and crackers… but even then I would never consider it a $ 15 meal. The quality of the food they give you shouldn’t be worth more than $ 5.
Our disappointment didn’t end there. The meals come with tickets for «reserved» seating… but nothing is reserved for you at all. You wait for hours until staff show up to tell you move and from there, you’re on your own for finding your own «seats.»
We pushed our way to the front so we got a good view, but I can’t imagine the disappointment of others.
This deal is hardly worth considering.

My family and I had these last night at the Park. We were very dissappointed! The meals are 16.00 each. They are kept in a cooler till you pick them up. Where some of the entrees are ok cold. They are better hot. Especially fried Chicken and grilled Salmon. The legumes, pasta and coleslaw were absolutely tasteless. I do not recommend this picnic especially in cold weather or rainy day. You are better off getting some fresh baked bread closeby with cheese and wine to watch the show.
The show at night was fantastic. The fire was warming. It was 47 degrees outside.

Purchasing the reserved seating for World of Color came with a «picnic» lunch. This has to be, by far, the worst food I have ever had at an amusement park. The fried chicken we got was cold and flavorless. The coleslaw was mediocre and the potato salad tasted too much like pure dijon mustard. It came with a small piece of apple pie that was really soggy. The only part I liked about the meal was my bottle of Coke and the nice container the meal was served in. We were pretty lucky with the reserved seats because we had the yellow section, which had an amazing view of the show.

I recently experienced the World of Color picnic. All I can say is don’t do it! We ordered:
One — Asian Dish with Miso Glazed Salmon
Two — Mediterranean Dish with Vege-​wrap
Two — Kids Meals with chicken and the other is a peanut butter sandwich
We retrieved our meals near the Wine Trattoria around 7:20pm (the crowd was very light).
Now for my personal review of the the Asian and Mediterranean dishes. Let’s just say that most frozen dinners would beat them hands down! My wife and I could have made something better with our eyes closed.
As for the kids meals? My kids found the portions to be very small! The best part of the meal, however, wasn’t the meal at all. It was the light up bracelet. You could only choose two colors, either red or blue.
Now for the worst part of the package. The reserved viewing! Actually the reserved viewing is the first available tickets for the queue in the morning. The dreaded BLUE SECTION!!!
The reason I am saying this is that this is the most crowded section and you call that reserved??? I have seen WC over 5 times and all of them were spectacular except for the ‘reserved viewing’.
My children got pushed and shoved because of the horribly cramp space. So please DO NOT BUY THIS… IT IS A RIP OFF!
NOTE: Also tried to resolve my horrid experience at CIty Hall and the CM scoffed at me and said they could try to get another color coded seating at the World Color but we can’t give a refund (this was a wise ass remark because World of Color reservation tickets were always available till at least 8:00pm each day). He also reported any other form of compensation was not possible.
Disney’s customer service has truly gone in the dumps!
AGAIN…PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THE DISNEY WORLD OF COLOR PICNIC!!! BECAUSE OF THIS EXPERIENCE AND THEIR HORRID CUSTOMER SERVICE I WILL NEVER STAY AT THEIR RESORT IN THE FUTURE! (10 TIME DISNEY RESORT USER)
