Difficult rating sushi restaurants below a four star. Came here for Friday night dinner with the family for a party of 7. At first, ordering was a little rocky. The waitresses weren’t very knowledgable about the menu. We ordered 7 omakases($ 38) with a miso soup(without tofu) and a salad. She offered us green tea ice cream at the end too, not sure if that came with with omakase. The scallop carpaccio was delicious! They ran out of plates to serve our entire order of omakase with at the table, so they served each nigiri by the single plate. I prefer it this way but it was taking forever. They didn’t time the pieces very well. I’m not sure if it’s because of this I felt like it wasn’t its best. The fish was warm. The fish to rice ratio was uh, a lot of rice to what I’m used to. There were a lot of pieces that were slightly seared, even just on its side. I’m not a fan of seared fish in general. I didn’t like 5⁄10 options of the omakase. It’s cheap but i would add that extra $ 10 elsewhere and enjoy what I’m eating. And the cherry salmon was underwhelming. They have Japanese uni here, but ran out by the time we sat. We had to reserve the Santa Barbara uni to finish off our dinner. Uni itself was good but the seaweed and rice was a little smushed and poorly prepared. The quality you put out to a table should be the same as the bar. I left feeling disappointed.

First time at Yagi on a Saturday night. We arrived around 6ish and there was a 30 minute wait. So, we walked around to the Big Lots store to kill time. We finally sat at the bar after 40 minutes or so. My wife ordered the Omakase for $ 38 where you get 10 pieces of fish. I ordered from the menu and found the food to be excellent. My wife stated the fish melted in her mouth. The service was attentive with the water and tea and our chef was also great. Looking forward to coming back to Yagi.

Wow! I’m glad that I found this restaurant because it’s hard to find authentic japanese restaurant that serves excellent sushi. Our chef, Nobu, is really talented and kind and he gave us nodoguro as the part of our omakase and he said it was special and indeed, i’m blown away! The 10 pieces of omakase are very good and it was a very good deal. We ordered extra blue crab hand roll it was very good but sushi Zo has the best blue crab hand roll. However, they got us blown away just as we’re eating at sushi Zo or n\naka. Definitely will come back for another omakase here. This is way better than Hama in Little Tokyo or slightly better than sushi Gen. The ambience is really comfortable. We sat next to a couple who come there every week and they said you will come back and yes we will! Best: nodoguro, black cod, salmon, chutoro, scallop.

Had Omikase and it was delicious! They have a craft Japanese beer that was also very good. Better than the regulars, Sapporo, etc. I recommend reservations on the weekend even for the sushi bar. They get pretty busy on Friday and Saturday nights. The staff is very nice and attentive. Will go back.

Met my girlfriends here for a farewell dinner and this place did not disappoint. Food was fresh and amazing and service was top notch! I couldn’t get back home because the 91FWY was completely closed off on both sides and the owner actually stayed open later until we were okay to leave… does it get any better than that? We ordered teh omakase, wagyu beed, and sweet shrimp. Thank you for the amazing food and awesome service!

This place is great! They had a great selection of sushi and nice appetizers. Salmon sashimi platter was so fresh and delicate. Such an excellent starter! The aji fish was a new one for us! It’s a must try! It’s so soft and tender. It melts in your !! The ribeye starter is a bit heavy for an appetizer, but still tasty. Baked scallop and mushroom was a little underwhelming. It is way

I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at Yagi, the staff was very friendly. Although I didn’t have time to make a reservation, I showed up early on a Saturday to see if I could get a spot. Everything was filled up and some tables were reserved but I was seated in around 30 minutes. Sushi was bomb, Omakase and the Chirashi bowl awesome. All the way down to the sushi rice, they got it. Chefs are very nice and love to hear about your dining experience.

Awesome sushi place in Anaheim! We got the Omakase which came with 10pc sushi with soup and salad. Few sushi were not my type but still great. And we also ordered santa barbara Uni and Ankimo which were very delicious! Highly recommended. And at last, we got the toro handroll it was bomb! So melted in my mouth! Definitely will be back later !

Came Sunday night to find this place empty. we were the only party there until another couple showed up. Sat at the sushi bar to watch the chefs and to enjoy the omakase. For $ 38, you get the 10 piece omakase, which is definitely a steal! It was great quality and our sushi chef was so friendly and chatted with us most of the night, telling us what each fish was and the sauces applied. Wish I got his name. The omakase came out in two portions, the first plate had 6 pieces and 4 pieces in the other, all presented beautifully. Some stand out pieces: — fresh octopus: had this interesting yuzu sauce and with some radish. It was crisp and refreshing. — hotate(scallop): this was soft and sweet. — cherry salmon: so fresh! — yellowtail: lightly brushed with soy, I loved the texture. — black cod: always a favorite of mine, buttery, melt in your mouth, and has a nice charred taste. — otoro: ANOTHER melt in your mouth piece. So GOOD We also ordered the uni and the wagyu since reviews raved about it. Waygu: sad I got a piece that was chewy, but my boyfriend loved it. Uni: it was sweet and creamy, but I’ve had better. All in all, food was really good for the price, fresh, and presentation wise was aesthetically pleasing. Service was spot-on, drinks were always full and there was someone always there to grab plates. I was pleased with my meal and I was surprisingly satisfied. Can’t wait to come back

This place is very good. It’s a very cute, very clean newly remodeled. The food is good. You can avoid the garlic edamame there isn’t too much of a different taste from the original edamame. The crunchy roll is super on point it’s a must. Spicy tuna is original. It’s a give or take maybe just try something different. A must have is the dynamite appetizer the taste is amazing they come out on three big shells, which are super cute. It’s a decent serving size. They’re cute and they taste amazing. The sushi chefs are super cool/funny. The price is decent comparable to almost every other sushi spot. Sit at the sushi bar it’s a good feel. This place is a cool to go to spot in a hurry the food comes out in a decent time.

We came for dinner last Saturday night and ordered the Omakase. It was a very special experience despite coming in 45 minutes before closing. For a Saturday night this place was pretty empty. The restaurant is very simple with modern wooden décor and clean shapes, a wall of sake bottles. The staff is extremely attentive and polite. Sushi chefs were friendly and sweet. I don’t think I’ve paid as low as $ 38 for Omakase dinner anywhere else. Let me just say: they don’t skimp on quality at all. The presentation was beautiful; the fish was so fresh, and about half of them were seared to bring out the natural oils and flavors. I’ve never had sea bass sushi before and it was incredible. As always, personal favorites such as scallop and fatty salmon did not disappoint. Even the rice under the fish was delicious: chewy, sticky, salty. We were given 9 pieces of sushi, then a tuna poke handroll to finish. We loved every minute! Will be back for their Omakase again and maybe to try their wagyu sushi.

Ive been two yagi two times now. Both times my GF ordered the omakase, and both times the selection of fish were different as well as the preparation. For $ 38 the omakase is reasonable priced. On my first visit I ordered the poke bowl. Probably the nicest looking and tastiest poke bowl I ever had. I think it was $ 12 so the price is very reasonable as well. Second time I went, I decided to go for one of the dinner combos. For less than $ 20 the combo was very filling. Overall I really like yagi because the place isn’t too crowded and you really don’t need a reservation. Not sure how long that will last once word gets out but until then, ill enjoy while it lasts. Don’t forget to use your check-in offer.

Yagi is SUSHIHEAVEN !!! If you enjoy delicious authentic sushi then this is the place to be at :) The ambiance is beautiful & service is impeccable, I reccomend the Omakase 10 piece, the Wagyu sushi (LOVE)!, the albacore, blue fin tuna, barracuda, Chirashi, calamari, & the Panna Cotta for dessert.

It’s not everyday that you get to try a true Japanese restaurant that boasts legitimate sushi. Having searched up «sashimi» around Orange County, Yagi was one of the ones that stood out the most. Maybe it was the high reviews, or maybe it was the allure of the raw shrimp that supposedly move when you squirt lemon juice on them, but I knew I had to try this place. Yagi is located in a pretty large plaza near Anaheim Hills. It might be a bit difficult to locate this restaurant since it’s really small, but keep an eye out for a bright blue sign. The restaurant is pretty tiny. There are several tables(a few large and a few small), with the usual counter. Since we were a party of 4, we were unfortunately not able to sit at the counter and watch the sushi chefs cut fish(boohoo). The menu is pretty standard. There’s a side with special rolls and one with the daily specials. My friend ordered the lolicup roll and the yagi roll while me and my other friend ordered omakases. In addition, I added an extra wagyu sushi plate. The one thing about this place is that during a «busy time» with more than a few tables filled, it may take a while for the chefs to bring out your sushi. This is definitely not a problem for me, but be warned in case you may be impatient. The first thing that came out was the salad and soup for me and my friend(comes with Omakase). I felt like they tasted pretty standard as complimentary items, but my friend thought the soup was a bit salty(I guess Miso comes in different shades?). The first real cut that came out was my Wagyu. The first thing I noticed was the meat was very, very juicy and tender. I felt like the slice just melted in my mouth when I stuffed it in(lol). I would say that it’s definitely worth paying $ 12 for. My friend’s lolicup roll came out and she said it was really good. Big plus for the presentation! It took about 30 minutes before our Omakase plates finally came out. I was hungry at this point, but definitely knew that the wait would be worth it. Here, for 38 $ you get a plate of 10 of the chef’s best cuts. From yellowtail, to another wagyu cut, to live octopus, to the usual salmon, there was a good selection of fish. There were a few things i noticed about the Omakase plate. The fish were fantastic! For the most part, I felt like I was just eating something straight out of heaven. The fish were amazing, the portion sizes were decent, and it was remarkable how much effort was put into every cut. The one drawback however was the wagyu. Compared to the sushi one I ordered, the Omakase one was a bit tougher and harder to chew. It was probably because of the meat they had, so I won’t knock them for it. In the end, the waitress gave us free ice cream because she felt bad that we had to wait. It was okay though! Overall, this place was brilliant. Great calm atmosphere and amazing sushi. Im hesitant to give it perfect 5⁄5 stars because the price was a bit steeper than some other sushi restaurants Ive had before which boasted equally great cuts of fish. However, I’ll come back if in the area. Eat well and prosper,

BESTSUSHIEVER!!! Best is to make a reservation, this place is packed every night. The staff is very nice and they do have a lot of fresh exotic fish that you can’t find anywhere else. The presentation for sashimi is outstanding.

My friend and I wanted to try a new omakase place, and we found this gem! We made reservations by the sushi bar, and were seated right away. Our chef was Manabu-San, and he was great! +Food: The fish was fresh and scrumptious. Our omakase came out with 6 on one dish, and 4 in another, which is very different than what I’m used to with one coming out each time. Even though I prefer the latter(so that the fish would taste more fresh), the fish quality was still excellent. +Price: $ 38 for 10 piece omakase, including miso soup and house salad. I don’t think there’s a better deal than this. –Service: The service here is a little slow. It could have been that it was a busy night, and possibly that they were understaffed(it looked like our chef was the only one for the night). Nonetheless, I would still go back. My favorites are the Toro, Cherry Salmon, Octopus, and sweet shrimp. A recommendation would be to order extra nigiri after your omakase is done, specifically the wyagu beef and nodoguro, similar to toro, but since they ran out that night, I guess I will have to return!

One of the best Omakase deal you will find and the quality of the fish is superb. Very fresh and high end cuts. Here at Yagi you will get your authentic style nigiri that doesn’t require dipping. Chef Manbu was the man that night, and did an excellent job of serving us! He explain all the fish that was served and even want out of his way to show us the pictures of the fish. Just love those kind of chef’s. Omakase Nigiri: $ 38 Halibut was excellent! Kanpachi was very good! Japanese Barracuda one of my favorite of the night. Kohada was marinated perfectly! Cherry Salmon nice and fatty. Bluefin Tuna. Sawara this excellent as well. Black Cod just like butter. Hotate was nice and sweet. Bluefin Toro. Amazing. Extra Order of nigiri: Japanese Wyagu. The marbling on this was just awesome. Enjoy it very much. I do recommend trying it. Nodoguro. If you like toro you will definitely love this. To me this was more fatty then the Bluefin Toro. Overall Yagi lives up to it 4.5 stars and was very satisfied with my meal and service. Definitely my go to spot when visiting the in– laws. Check in for free edamame.

Overall, a great experience. My mom and I sat at the sushi bar. We started our dinner with a sashimi variety of bluefin tuna, salmon, kampachi, and halibut. The moment the first slice of fish entered my mouth, I couldn’t help but let out a happy«mmmmm» :) Absolutely delicious. My favorite: kampachi. Definitely recommended. We followed up our meal with aji tataki, salmon skin cut roll, yellowtail sushi, and what I was most looking forward to — sweet shrimp. Everything was great; however, I was slightly disappointed with the texture of my sweet shrimp… It just lacked that juicy«pop» that I love. Why I had to deduct a star: My mom generously paid, and after finishing up our black sesame ice cream, we thanked the chefs and servers and headed out. It wasn’t until later when we got to the car that my mom showed me the receipt: $ 222. I realized that an error had been made and proceeded to get our check resolved. They apologized, made the correction, and charged back a whopping $ 80.
