Fantastic burger, would absolutely return to this location. The wait was fairly long but I can appreciate them taking the time to make an excellent burger. Highly recommend!

45 minute wait. Burgers were… ok. We ordered 2 island boys and a few teriyakis. Not worth the wait and NO bathroom. Would not go back.

I ordered the local girl with onion rings and my husband ordered the local boy with fries. It was a bit of a wait but thankfully we were in no hurry. We both liked our food but portion sizes were smaller than what they looked in pictures so I’m happy we hadn’t just ordered one burger to split.

The bartender where we were staying recommended this place. We drove about 30 miles from where we were staying to try Duane’s ono char burger, I was not disappointed. Definitely a no frills type of place, a little shack on the side of the road, but I love these type of places. Burger was a standard ¼ lb patty(you can get 2 if you want), toppings were your standard, I did add bacon for an additional charge. The burger was tasty and hot, savored all the layers of yumminess! Fries were served fresh, hot, and crispy just like I like them. If you get a chance make the drive, it’s well worth it. Bonus: beautiful scenery on the drive there!

Frozen patty’s not fresh meat… Wouldn’t recommend to anyone such a waste of money/stomach space!

Appearance wise the burger compilation looks ono. That’s until you see the beef. It was a previously frozen thin patty from any box store. What else can be said? No flavor what so ever.

Really tasty burger! Teriyaki and Fish sandwich both excellent. The wait was not bad at all. Maybe 5 minutes on a Wednesday at 12:30. Polite and friendly service. Agreed: it’s not about the size of the party: it’s the layers of goodness on it. I’m not a huge teriyaki fan but it being the top seller, I tried it: superb.

I understand«island time» because I used to live on a island but this is next level. We waited 50 minutes for three burgers. During that 50 minutes 3 other orders came out before ours so the are just miserably slow. If the burger was awesome I wouldn’t be writing this review. But it was below average and blown away like it was cooked for 45 minutes to long. As a former restaurant owner there is nothing worse than slow service it makes the customer have a higher expectation of the quality of the food to bad they missed the mark on both.

I love this place! Best burgers on Kaua’i! The selection of burgers is great. There is something for every taste bud. My husband craves this place every time we’re on the island. We eat here at least 3 times a week. I enjoy getting a different burger every time. The fries and onion rings are always perfect. And the milkshakes are delicious. There are only outdoor picnic tables. But that has never bothered me. Yes, there is typically a long wait. That is because they make everything to order. Nothing is pre-prepared. If you want a fast food burger ready as soon as you order it go to McDonald’s. Yes, there are chickens. But there are chickens everywhere on Kaua’i. Just shoo them away. The only bad thing is there are no public bathrooms nearby. Be prepared and you’ll be fine. Hint, if there is a long line of locals waiting to eat some place — EATTHERE! Avoid Bubba’s, which is an expensive tourist trap.

Cool spot to pick up a burger, fries, onion rings and shakes. The wait is a little long, but it’s worth it. Food was good and tasty!

The burgers are really good! Depending on how you like your burger, I can see how someone wouldn’t be a fan. These burgers are not about the patty. They are about all the layers put together, which includes the veggies and the bun. The patty is a very small part of. Knowing ahead of time from photos that the patties are pretty thin, and being a big patty person, I went for the double patty. I ended up taking out a slice of tomato in order to fit it in my mouth, but it was PERFECT. Damn, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. I was so full before I even finished my burger. There was a little stray cat hanging out near us who looked very hungry so I ended up giving her like half a patty, so that all worked out.

Always a great burger! The seating is local and fun! You can tell how good a place is by the amount of locals that stop by! It is packed for lunch so we call ahead to order. Otherwise you may end up waiting 30 minutes or so. We’ve tried the tuna and club sandwhich and they are great as well!

Seen this place on my drive to Princeville and was in the back of my mind. On the way home my bro called and told me to stop by and try and glad I did. Also let me say if it wasn’t for the price this would def fall to three stars. I got the blue cheese and have to say while the burger solid didn’t taste any blue cheese so def would pass on that next time and get as straight burger. Kid got a cheddar burger and loved it. Only other downside was the onion rings, I can’t stand frozen bulk onion rings and theirs is exactly that. Also has free has parking but that might be normal in Kaiau(I live in Honolulu, free parking is always a pro anywhere there). Will def hit again if I make it up that way, at $ 6 a burger and one that is pretty solid and decent, def worth the stop.

Stayed open a little late to feed me. So appreciative. Haven’t eaten all day and been in the sun for 10 hours. I can’t express how stoked I am right now. Many Mahalos

I was told by a Kauai local that I must try these burgers. I wasn’t told that there was nearly a 40 minute wait between standing in line and receiving your food! Our party of 8 with an assorted order of burgers, fries, onion rings, and milkshakes didn’t help the wait. Unfortunately, service was so slow that my friends who received their food first were nearly done with their meal by the time the last ones got theirs. Decent burgers and delicious onion rings that really hit the spot after the beach. Locally owned and operated, there’s something comfortable about ordering from a window in a run-down shack and sitting on the picnic tables nearby while half a dozen chickens saunter around. Good thing we were eating burgers, not chicken. I’d be back, but only if not famished from a long day at the beach and willing to wait! Maybe try a visit outside the peak lunch hour?

All the locals we met recommended this place over Bubba’s and I am glad we listened. The woman who worked the window was nice, and recognized we weren’t locals. We got a regular cheeseburger and the local boy, with a side of fries. They have good french fries! The burgers are cut in half perfectly and don’t get messy which is awesome. I am not a big teriyaki fan, but the local boy burger was delicious. You can’t taste the pineapple much, but the burger was great. Highly recommend this place to anyone in this area.

Cheeseburgers in paradise! Love this little roadside shack. Fantastic teri burgers will have you wishing you had several stomachs, so be sure to make multiple visits when on the island. The onion rings were the real surprise, as they were fried to perfection. Watch out for the roosters because those fools are ornery.

Being that it’s a popular burger joint, it’s a long wait to get your order. Especially when it’s busy. It took an hour for our order to be done. I had the local girl. It’s a teriyaki burger with Swiss cheese and pineapple. I love the taste and the burger was super juicy. It reminded me of the burgers from the old CAMPHOUSEGRILL in Kalaheo. My friends raved about the onion rings and fries. They weren’t homemade but it’s still good. I liked the special salt they have sitting on their counter that you put on your fries. Overall I would come back to eat here but I will have to order it ahead of time. So when I reach there from Kaumakani, it’ll be ready to eat! It’s way better than Bubba’s!!!
