Second best chicken on Kauai(chicken in a barrel is better). Delicious chicken. $ 12 for a package with chicken &2 sides. $ 8 for just chicken. We would eat here again.

There is one thing to order here: Chicken. Chicken platter(with salad and rice) or just a half a chicken? Those are the kinds of difficult decisions you’ll just have to make for yourself. Lovely spot, cash only, delicious chicken. Make a stop.

Excellent savory flavor and melt in your mouth tenderness! We drove here from south shore and boy was it worth it! Call first as they are not always available.

Best roadside stop chicken. It has that sweet taste to it. Found out the cook adds brown sugar to his seasoning. Yum. And the homemade hot sauce was good, according to my son. Very friendly people too.

Chicken was cooked perfect. Great price for what you get. Salad comes from there back yard garden. Keep your eyes peeled when driving otherwise you might miss it. Definitely would go back again.

Best chicken on Kauai :) It’s a roadside stop so be sure you’re looking for it otherwise you’ll definitely miss it. The chicken is seasoned in soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, and garlic. So simple but so good. Huli means turn and that’s what makes this chicken so moist and perfectly cooked. The owner turns each chicken over the spit constantly until it’s perfectly browned and crispy. For $ 12, you get half a chicken, rice, and a locally grown salad. It’s enough for most couples to share. They’re only open Fri/Sat/Sun 11am until they run out so get there sooner rather than later. We were there at 11:15am and while there were many chickens left, several people came in and purchased 3 – 4 orders to go so I think they go pretty quickly. The chickens are not local — the cook told me they’re from Costco because they’re not allowed to sell local chickens to customers. Kind of a shame I think since the local chickens are living a truly happy and free range life. Still, don’t miss out!

This is the best chicken in the world. If you’re lucky enough to be able to get some breadfruit along with it you are blessed

I first discovered hulihuli chicken from a beat up food truck at my favorite surf spot on Maui. So when we arrived in Kauai my wife and I were on a mission to try some here. Based on reviews from Unilocalers we waited days for this place to open(fri to sun only) then we made a beeline for them right after a hike. Awesome. Just awesome flavor. The owners are super friendly and you can see that they pour themselves into this process. Just, smoky, moist, flavorful chicken served with super fresh and tasty organic salad and sticky rice. A full plate is enough for two average people… Or me when I’m being a pig. Only downer, microscopic, is that the hot sauce on the side was too vinegary for my taste. Thats just me, others may love it. Just a heads up. We will be back!

This is a true roadside chicken shack. It was great. It’s only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11:00 until they sell out. It’s not hard to find, but look for the flags and signs or you may drive by. The only parking is on the side of Kuhio Highway. They only have one thing on the menu, chicken, and it’s really good. Great flavors and really moist. The plates come with rice and salad. I think it’s a different salad everyday. The day we were there, the salad was a great Hawaiian take on a Greek salad. It’s only about 12 minutes south from Princeville or a perfect lunch spot if your doing a day trip from the South End of the island.

What an experience! $ 12 for half chicken«plate» lunch which includes rice and a delicious green salad. My husband and I shared it and had leftovers too. Behind the picnic tables is a lovely second hand store that I picked up some Hawaiian knick knacks and clothing items at a steal. Super friendly locally owned. Support Kauai!(Don’t let the ambiance scare u away).

These are the type of places that we come to Hawaii for. This place will be frequented by just as many locals as tourists. When you walk in, you might have to pause for a moment to take it all in. The cooking apparatus is truly a backyard variety barbecue. Four pieces of tin roofing material, propped up on its side to make a rectangle. Over that a couple of pieces of rebar with chicken fencing over that to make a grate. You might not notice any of it though because your eyes will be drawn to the expertly cooking half chickens. The meats barbecuing over dry wooden pine logs split in quarters. They’ve charcoaled up nicely. If you’ve ever had true barbecue, you’ll know that you have to cook over wood. A pure gas flame adds no flavor. The guys working the meat are pros. Huli Huli(turn turn) has to constantly be worked. Even as they’re working the guys are friendly and open. They’ll answer all your questions. As the meat finishes the guys spray on the sauce. In the adjacent tent, they’ll sell you some accompaniments. Coconut, bread fruit, sauces. All of it is excellent. This place doesn’t have white linen table cloths, or for that matter tables at all. What they do have is some seriously good chicken for an excellent price.

YES, YES, YES! I made sure to add Huli Chicken to the itinerary! Definitely, O-N-O! The BEST meal we had in Kauai! Huli Chicken in Anahola is a small mom & pop shack that serves finger licking goooooooood chicken made with a lot of aloha! The portions are big! You can SHARE but don’t. you’ll crave more and you’ll be pissed once it’s gone! If you’re visiting Kauai, stop by «HULICHICKEN» in Anahola. You won’t be disappointed! Talk to the couple, they have a lots of stories to tell.

My husband and I stopped here one afternoon on our vacation because we were trying to locate the nearby wild boar stand(which was never open the whole time we were in Kauai). We shared a plate($ 12), which consists of a half chicken(a very large chicken), a mixture of brown and white rice, and a salad with fresh organic mixed greens, sprouts, carrots, and a delicious asian style vinaigrette. This place is located on Hawaiian homestead land, and they have literature available if you want to know more about the history, but nobody mentioned it to us or was pushy about it. The woman who makes the plates, Susanne, grows all the greens for the salads herself. We spoke at length about gardening, and she gave me some tips for my own garden. The chicken was amazingly juicy, and the rub on the outside has a sweet and smoky flavor. It really is super delicious. We actually bought another half chicken to go, and ate it later at «home». The salad was delicious as well. Everything was so good, it made me want to eat it with my hands instead of a fork. On our way out, one of the men there picked some bananas off a tree and gave us a few. They were also delicious! Super positive atmosphere and experience here. I will definitely come back next time I visit Kauai.

Stop by ASAP! They run out of chicken because of its popularity. The owner is very proud of the organic veggies. Since the BF and I shared the half chicken(which is recommended) I wish we had ordered extra rice. Because you are most likely sharing your meal with someone the price is more than reasonable. The food is really tasty, well cooked, and feels healthy too. The road’s traffic is going pretty fast so be aware of when you have to stop because it is an abrupt stop. Weird seeing the wild chickens picking at the BBQ area– cannibals.

I love this place! It is just a road side food stand run by an old couple. The chicken was cooked in a hole on the ground by the gentleman, who said the reason why his chicken taste so good was that he cooks with his heart. The menu is very simple, either you can buy the chicken with a salad or just the chicken itself. The chicken was tasty with a bit of Asian favors, I don’t know what, because there is no way the gentleman would give up the recipe. There are a couple of chairs and tables in the place. The lady also sells some local souvenirs. I asked the lady is the chicken local? She honestly told me that they are from Cosco! Nonetheless, it is tasty!

Fantastic BBQ Huli Huli Chicken! The meat just shreds apart so easily that you don’t need a knife. The misses and I shared a half chicken and it was more than enough for the two of us. This was probably the best BBQ chicken I’ve had. I wish we didn’t wait until the last day of our trip to try this place or I would have came back! Don’t bother with Chicken in a Barrel etc… Come here instead and you won’t regret it!
