A Taste of Thai

This restaurant was closed for months in early ’16. Noticed it was open again within the past two weeks. I don’t know if it has changed management.
Atmosphere was crisp and clean.
i ordered the lunch special. There are many choices. I did not see Masalman curry but ordered Penang curry with chicken. The meal came promptly and was delicious, but not hot.
They don’t offer brown rice, jasmine only with lunch special. No fresh roll option, just crispy egg roll, and it is tasty. Thai iced tea was very good. The food didn’t require additional spices, which was good because there are no spices available on the tables. A spice rack was brought quickly on request.
The music was light and percussive, some kind of constant xylophone or marimba, and if it was a little louder would have driven me crazy.
Service was friendly and reasonably prompt.
I will be going back to sample more of the available options.

This is by far my favorite restaurant in town! I would eat here every day if I could! The staff is amazing (eat in and order take out enough and they’ll remember your name and order! Haha), the restaurant is extremely clean and beautifully decorated, and the food, of course, is to die for! Everything is freshly prepared and is reflected in the taste. The owner and majority of the staff is from Thailand so the authenticity of the cuisine is spot on with their own flare.
My favorite dishes are Taste of Thai Special with chicken (basic chicken and veggies), Pad Ze Ew, any and all curries and Cashew Chicken. I really don’t think you could go wrong with any dish you order here! Start with their fresh rolls, of course :)

I’ll be brief… Fresh ingredients, authentic taste, friendly staff and the cleanest restaurant you’ll dine in. Yes, the prices are a little high (noticed that is what people seem to be complaining about on the other reviews)… But if you want quality and authentic dining experience — give A Taste of Thai a try.

I live up north, but nanny some kids down here, I got really hungry one lunch, decided to stop by here before heading back home. The atmosphere is gorgeous. It feels like Thai! The decorations and even the outfits of the waitress is unique and very special. It fits the theme of the restaurant very well.
The food was delicious too! I had the drunken noodle lunch special, with a Thai drink. The lunch special comes with rice, soup, and an egg roll. My favorite was the egg roll. It was crisp and flavorful. As an aspiring chef, I loved that every hot food on the plate came out sizzling hot. Rice cools fast, but my rice came out HOT. :) it’s great to see restaurants how actually put effort :) the noodles were a bit too soft for me, but still delicious. The flavor and spice was all there. The Thai tea was great too. Not too sweet. Just perfect.
Overall, this was a great restaurant, excellent service. One waitress and she held it down. She was on top of it. Always smiling, checking in, and serving quickly. I would definitely come back here again! Even if it takes me 20 mins from the north side! :)

Nice location and good, friendly service. The food was tasty but the portions were definitely on the small side for the premium price charged. Two of us with one appetizer, no drinks and tip came in at $ 50. Yes, I know this is Alaska but I think there are other Thai places that are a better value.

Wonderful little place off the beaten path. Went in for lunch and were seated immediately. Service was great and friendly, food was phenomenal and the décor was lovely!

Good food but outrageous prices for what you get! Went for lunch and the spicy noodle with tofu was good but they didn’t have any vegetarian substitutions for the egg roll or soup. Very disappointing! Then ordered dinner and my husband got the spicy noodle with beef for $ 17 and when he got home to eat — NO RICE! Rip-​off.

Good Thai, good service, and nice décor which may explain the prices. We’ve done dine in and take out with food quality what you expect but they are priced for the South Anchorage crowd who don’t want to drive to Midtown.

Wanted to try this place since it opened and was finally able to go for lunch. Walking in the décor was really great and I was nervous about having my 4 year old daughter and 11 month old niece eating there when I saw how nice it was but the hostess immediately made us feel welcomed and had us sitting at a table with Thai ice Tea with in minutes. We order Pad Thai and Sidewalk noodles. Both where amazing and flavorful. The kids even devoured all there food! I can’t wait to take my husband on a date night there for dinner. If you like Thai food this is the place to go!

The foods are ok, my favorite dish here is papaya salad. I haven’t been there for a few year, would love to go back there…

This was a wonderful discovery. A friend took me to this restaurant for lunch. The Garlic chicken was very flavorful and plenty for lunch. Then I took my husband there for an evening meal. We started off with spring rolls, both fresh and friend. They were delicious. I had shrimp curry and my husband had the pineapple curry special. Both exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere is very nice and the place is nicely decorated. I really appreciated the cleanliness and the service. We will be visiting again.

The food was very delicious, however, the pricing left a sour taste in our mouth. Main dish portions were sizable, not really enough to order family style, but the amount of rice for said portions were too small and when offered more rice, we were charged an additional $ 3 for another small bowl. I’ll be sticking to my normal go to spots for Thai.

Nice location, fast service and great food

I’ve ordered from here to go a couple times recently. It can make an easy dinner when I need a night off and everyone seems to love Thai food. Both times that I went, service was pleasant. The food took a bit of time to go out, which was only an extensive wait once. When I got the food home, there is always sauce all over the place. They may want to think about different containers. The food was good but didn’t seem as good as normal, and the portions were very small. When I’m laying down about $ 100 on dinner, I expect that I can feed four adults family style. The only thing plentiful was the rice. My family has demanded that this restaurant be put on the no list! Hopefully if I ever talk anyone into going again, things have changed. Till then it’s 2 stars and the no list. There are too many Thai restaurants in town to put up with wasting my money.

Excellent service, atmosphere, food and prices. My favorite is hmm… Duck Curry? lol Terrible memory. But I know it when I see it on the menu. It has duck! :)

We go to this place quite a bit. Consistently good food and friendly service! Also great place for takeout.

Stopped here for lunch on a Saturday, seated quick, placed order, took at least 10
minutes to get drinks, soup that came with lunch special was very black peppery. Entrees took at least 20 minutes and arrived luke warm, waited at least 30 minutes for check after done eating, wanted a box but finally just headed to front to try to pay, seemed to only be one person working and lots of to go orders rolling out at the detriment of dine in customers

I went in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. There were only two other tables taken, and I was seated quickly. The atmosphere was right on, and the granite-​topped tables were nice. Service was good, and my server was dressed in Thai attire. I liked that.
They have two pages of $ 10.95 lunch specials, and I ordered the Thai Pork Stew. It came with a cup of soup that I couldn’t identify. It seemed like egg drop soup with the addition of some veggies, and macaroni of all things. All good though.
Lunch came on a three compartment plate, and it was well presented. Jasmine rice, steamed broccoli, and an egg roll accompanied my stew. I asked for «hot» when I ordered. My server asked «on a scale of 1−5»? I said «5» and it was the right call. Nice and spicy, and very delicious!
One odd thing I noticed was that there were no condiments on the table. I had to ask for soy sauce, and I would have asked for some chili sauce, but my food was hot enough. There weren’t even salt & pepper shakers. No big deal, but not what I’m used to. This is the reason why I knocked them down a star.
I noticed some delicious-​looking dinner offerings that I’ll be back for: Thai sweet and sour halibut, and a duck dish that sounded excellent!

I ordered the lunch special pumpkin curry with soft white tofu. It was delicious! The curry was nicely spiced and creamy. The curry portion was a bit small compared to my friend’s stir fried dish though. I also thought the curry could be more spicy, but then again, I was never asked for spiciness level. I like my Thai food Thai spicy, as in very, very spicy — mouth on fire.
I loved the décor inside the restaurant. Very well decorated. The art on the wall and around the restaurant was reminiscent of Thailand. Gold tones, jeweled pieces and exotic statues. I also liked how the waitress/​hostess wore traditional Thai clothing. She looked beautiful and her outfit was very fitting for the atmosphere in the restaurant.
Price: $ 11 for most items on lunch special menu. A couple dollars more than I’m used to for a lunch combo, but I thought the flavors were good.
I would definitely come again, either to dine-​in or take-​out.

Small portions and high prices.
16oz soup for 14.95 is unreasonable.
Dine elsewhere.
