Babycakes Cupcakery

I tried them yesterday for the first time at Nordstrom, they had a table set up. The cupcakes are amazing!!! I know I’ll be going to them for the next event in my life.

Okay so I’ve got to give it to them, as far as marketing goes, they’ve nailed it. The truck is just adorable and the girls staffing it are even adorabler-​er… who doesn’t love retro pin up girls?
But I just don’t buy into the 4 dollar cupcake thing that seems to be all the rage these days. I mean, MAYBE if the cupcakers were like the extra big ones OR if they had like some crazy art on top of them, I might buy into it. But they’re normal sized cupcakes, that for the most part, LOOK like well, regular cupcakes. Are they delicious? ABSOLUTELY. But they’re not like, OMG I JUST HAD AN ORGASM for 4 dollars good. They’re 2 dollars good. If I’m gonna spend almost 4 bucks on a snack, it better be either outrageously delicious or look like something from the cover of Food Magazine. Or like some glazed fresh fruit or something. I don’t know… maybe I’m just being cranky. But $ 8 for the two «birthday cake» cupcakes that hubby and I had make me practically choke as we were eating them. I must say though, I do like the salty coffee cake crumbles atop my cupcake… it really added something. But seriously, I could have made an entire batch of these puppies myself, out of a box, with the special touches, for $ 4 myself and fed an army.
Just sayin.

Very interesting flavors. I like how not all the cupcakes have filling in the middle. I had the lavender blueberry, ritz PB&J, and the red velvet. Will definitely be back for more.

Got a couple at the Spenard food truck carnival, they were great, dense and delicious. Will be going back again.

The best cupcakes I have ever had, hands down! I especially love the Gluten Free Vanilla cupcake with Chocolate Vegan Frosting. These cupcakes are true works of art in both appearance and taste!
