I was a member of this club for 6 years! Love this athletic club. The aerobic classes are great and the locker room was always clean, as was the pool. The pool is salt water now which is really nice. They also have great day passes if you want a friend or family member to join you. The location is right in the Dimond Mall and close to the post office and other places I needed to go. Would highly recommend it.

Love the saltwater lap pool! Very nice facility. Very conducive to working out. Friendly and helpful staff. People actually return the weights after using them. Nice crowd and you don’t hear them yapping on their phones!

I love the Dimond Athletic Club. I can shop and sweat all in the same visit. :) I hear SO many people complain about the Alaska Club, I can’t understand how the public hasn’t revolted and stopped using their services. Yes, the Alaska Clubs are all pretty, but lot of the Alaska Club locations don’t even have pools… Alaska Club’s price gouging and shady used-car sales tactics are so infuriating, enough is enough! Anchorage’s population is very mobile– slope workers, contractors, military families all comprise a sizable chunk of our community. The typical year-long health club contract doesn’t work for a lot of Alaskans, so WHY does the Alaska Club not change their fee structure and membership policies to accomodate the population it serves in the name of good common sense and customer service? Frankly, cause the Alaska Club MUST be run by a company who doesn’t give a rats ass about people. Their policies scream«corporate greed.» But I digress. I love a deal; I come from a long line of penny pinching coupon clippers. And the Dimond Athletic Club is a DEAL, my friends. Unlike SO many other health clubs, DAC has lot of membership options. My favorite is the 10-visit punch card for $ 100. Lots of employers also offer a bonus benefit so the card is only $ 90. The card never expires(YAY! for slack-asses like me.) And the card covers a FAMILYOFFOUR for an entire day with as many ins and outs as you want. Tell me THAT isn’t a bargain! As far as services go, they aren’t lacking. There’s an indoor raquetball court, indoor basketball court, saline pool, kiddie pool, free weight room, and 2 large exercise machine rooms. They also have a large member room with comfy couches and a TV and a nice view of the ice-rink. Use of the ice-rink and bowling alley are seperate fees. They both offer classes, in addition to swim classes, and various exercise and training programs. My favorite place is the locker room, which has a hot tub, sauna, ample lockers, dresssing areas and showers. They also have tanning booths which can be used with the purchase of an inexpensive punch card. Overall, I’ve also had very good customer service experiences with the folks there as well. Only once have I ever had a complaint with staff member, who was new. The DAC may be a bit older and not as shiny as some of the other places in town, but they certainly are the cheapest, have the friendliest staff and the most comprehensive services.

It’s been a while since I was a member, but I thought I’d pass along the good word. The price absolutely cannot be beat. They have raquetball, weights, basketball, cardio… if I recall, there was a hot tub in the ladies locker room. There’s a pool, and a kiddie pool. It was so chlorinated, your eyes would water when you opened the door — same with the hot tub. I guess too much is better than not enough. I’ve heard that since I left, they switched to pool to saltwater — sounds cool to me. One of my big problems was that it felt so dingy — the showers, the halls — just the overall feeling. If anyone has visited in the past year or two, please give some updated feedback. I really enjoy going to the gym, it just wasn’t… hmmm… what’s the word? Yummy. Well, that may not be THE word, but I think you catch my drift. Even with the down sides, I have to give at least three stars because, for the price, you get a lot. It seems like there were classes of some sort, but I never got signed up for those. Maybe I’ll do a little reconnaissance and see what’s going on there, now. Like I said, if anyone knows what’s going on now, please give some updated feedback.
