bought a groupon this morning. the lady that took my order was so nice and didn’t mind that I could hardly pronounce what I was ordering. my fiancé picked up the food within 15 minutes. my food was so delicious, I choose the spicy option and it was perfect! can’t wait to order again.

We’ve eaten here twice. Both times — so incredibly bland. Do I know what Indian food should taste like? YES. The greatest manager I’ve ever had was from India, and I worked with a team of people both from and in India. Do I understand that this is actually Himalayan, which is not as spicy/hot as Indian food is? YES. Have I eaten at many Himalayan places that actually had great flavor? YES. This is not one of them. While not completely disgusting, like the Yak & Yeti Café on Northern Lights, it’s still bland and disappointing. There is just no good Indian-type food in Anchorage, period. This may be the best you’re gonna get in Anchorage, but set your expectations appropriately.

Great food, a bit pricey but definitely worth it. Would recommend to anyone looking for Indian cuisine.

I love this place. In this process of maxing out on groupons and living socials, I’ve become a regular. In comparison to my longtime favorite Bombay Deluxe, the food is cheaper and feels a bit more authentic. I used to order the chicken korma exclusively but have branched out to the tasty vegetarian options. My favorite right now is Kadai Sabzi. They always bring you a heaping pile of rice(and even give you more to take home with your leftovers) and always keep my cup of Darjeeling tea full. Don’t forget to order some samosas on the side. I had one incredibly slow experience here on the weekend, but find that weekday nights are very zippy. Even on a slower night, the food is always worth the wait!

Had them cater our wedding. Great prices and the guests still rave about the food. Namaste is my favorite place in town, hands down!

First of all the woman who took my to go order was rude and not friendly at all. I went to this establishment after purchasing a Living Social voucher. Apparently they do not like giving people the Groupon or Living Social deals… it is just done to lure people in there. The voucher said it expired Feb 29th, which means I had until the end of business Feb 29th to use it. Apparently the older, unfriendly woman helping me believes that actually means it expired Feb 28th. So, she charged me full price and subtracted the amount of the voucher effectively NOT honoring the voucher. I will be contacting Living Social and I will never go to this establishment again. Dishonest and rude. Horrible. Update… Food not great either. Left something out of my order that I paid for and I did not discover this until I got home. Very dissatisfied.

Visited here the other night and saw that they updated the menu. They now have some nice combo meals that give you rice, main dish, a few small sides, and dessert. Really nice option! All our regular dishes were excellent as usual.

Found this restaurant searching for vegetarian restaurants in Anchorage, made reservations for 6. The service is fantastic! Very friendly and helpful with our larger group. I picked this place due to it’s very large vegetarian menu. All but two of us were«newbies» to this kind of food but every single one of us loved our orders. They are served in small metal bowls to keep the food warm and with large bowls of rice to share. The naan was a favorite, especially the garlic flavored one, dipped in the refreshing and flavorful raita. I ordered the Paneer Lababdaar off the vegetarian menu and was obsessed! Very flavorful but not spicy, with generous chunks of cheese. The sauce was savory and delicious, and it all paired nicely over the rice. Everyone left happy and stuffed, and the staff was polite and accommodating. I am eagerly awaiting my next trip.

We took my daughter here for her birthday. Absolutely delicious, perfectly spiced food in a lovely atmosphere. Lamb Saag, naan, rice, thali plate. All good! Definitely will be back!

I LOVE this food! If you want succulent vegetarian vegan food look no further, although the meat dishes are well loved by my family too. Real fresh baked garlic nan in a tandoori oven is heavenly. My favorite is the canoe potatoes and veg samosas, the tamarind dipping sauce is so good I could eat it by itself with a spoon. The best value is the thali meal, you pick a main dish and it comes with samosa, dhal, channa, and rice pudding. It can be pricy to eat here, but the portions are huge, you usually have some to take home for another meal. Don’t waste your money going to Bombay delux where they skimp on the spices and the flavor is not there, for real Indian food this is the place. If you are a foodie this is for you. I feel lucky to have such a yummy restaurant in this city of great spoons and chain restaurants, Namaste I love you

First off, I want to say the food was good, I’d highly recommend if you want to eat here to order takeout. I had the worst service I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant when I came here, both my gf and I have been servers for restaurants in the past and understand being busy… But this was ridiculous, we were pointlessly moved to table after being there for an hour already and our table was given to someone else who had been there for a while so a reservation could have there table… We waited an hour and half for food, which half of it was luke warm, and saw multiple guests get there food before us, we were checked on once our entire stay, they took plates off our table without asking if we finished as well as the table decorations… So I would say of you wanted to eat here order out unless your fine with having untimely and not so friendly service

I utilized the groupon to get take out for this place($ 15 for $ 25), and I was initially put off when after placing my order, the person on the phone told me that I had to order«at least two entrees» which seemed a little shady to me, because I hadn’t seen this in the rules, and most of the entrees seemed to be around $ 14-$ 17. However, she didn’t fight me on it and let me place my order. I appreciate the groupon generosity though, and I get that must be kind of a bummer for restaurants to watch people to order the minimum of the groupon. My order consisted of chicken tikka(medium spicy), garlic naan, and samosas. The largest dish was the rice, like way too much rice for the amount of curry. However, the rice was great; fluffy with a good amount of spices mixed in. I thought the chicken tikka was delicious, but I would classify its spice level as mild. The garlic naan was perfectly done, chewy and crisp in some places. The samosas were a bit of a disappointment, the filling was tasty, but the wrapping was greasy and not very crispy. I recognize that this could have been a casualty of ordering them via takeout, I bet they are better if you get them hot/fresh in the restaurant.

Solid place on all fronts. I got my food to go(this is a pattern with me) and wound up buying some $ 70+ worth of Indian Food to give it a good sampling. Indian cuisine is one of the few cuisines that tastes even better the NEXT day. Dishes I got were Chicken Makhani, Mali Kofta, Saag Paneer, the bread basket(samples all their naan in one shot), and the appetizer sampler plate. I had their own homemade chai tea while we were waiting and made sure also to get a side of Raita. My son scarfed a Mango Lassi during this same time period. Of course I had to sample it though… which is like pulling teeth with an 8 yo lol. Ratings: Makhani: 8.5÷10. Nice flavor, could have used just a little more sweetness to it as this is one of the selling features for this dish(aka Butter Chicken in other Indian places). Other than that, it was very tasty. I’m not a total spice wimp but I’m also interested in keeping my tongue from frying right outta my face so I got medium on this dish and the others as well. Kofta: 9−10÷10. Excellent sauce and generous with the veggie bally wally thingies. I could taste the cashew in the sauce. It also had that hint of sweetness I tend to look for in my Indian food. Yum. Paneer: 6−7÷10. Definitely not one of the better Paneers I’ve had, but it certainly wasn’t bad by any means. The spinach was too liquified, but I liked the cheese cubes just fine. Bread Basket: 9⁄10. Three kinds of Naan and all had slightly different flavor and texture. It is nearly impossible to screw Naan up, though. Goes fantastic with Raita and the mint/cilantro chutney Sampler Plate: 4⁄10. The samosa tasted great but the rest of it was Meh. Won’t get this again and will just stick with samosas next time lol. Raita: 10⁄10. Their Raita might very well be the best damn raita I have ever had. Could slurp that stuff straight up lol Chai tea: 9⁄10. Yummola. I could drink this shit forever. Just wish it had the caffeine kick of coffee. I love it when restaurants actually MAKE their own rather than just heat up some prefab crap you can buy at the store. Mango Lassi: Based on the microscopic sip my kid allotted me of his precious nectar, I’d say it was’t very good, which surprised me. Not much flavor and it wasn’t really sweet enough. Not heinous, though. 3⁄10 Service: The person taking our order was zipping all over the place. She didn’t mess anything up so that’s saying something. 8⁄10 Ambience: I’m claustrophobic in most public settings, especially when places are kept excessively heated. This place was very small inside, but for once, I wasn’t dying from the heat. Would consider eating in at some point during their non-peak hours. 7⁄10 All in all, this place was very palatable and I will definitely be back. Will also have to try the Y&Y on ‘nard as well as that Bombay joint on Northern Lights. Cost: Too damn high. Spent damn close to 80 bucks after tip, but that’s just how Anchorage rolls… Lastly, Indian food, while yummy going down, tends to make me sick to my stomach so I don’t eat it very much, but this is one of the first times I did NOT feel ill afterward. That’s saying something!

I’ve come here a few times(5 or so) and each visit has been a wonderful culinary trip to South Asia. I have enjoyed many dishes but here are a few of my favorites: mixed appetizer, baigan bharta(eggplant in spices), shrimp rangoon(shrimp in tomato sauce) and lasuni salmon(smoked salmon in bell pepper garlic sauce). I also like getting some garlic naan in addition to the basmati rice to mop up the yummy sauces. The dishes can be ordered on a scale of mild to extra spicy. I usually go for medium or spicy. Spicy is definitely spicy! Portions are large and worth every penny. Service is usually decent but sometimes lacking. Ambiance is pleasant. I can’t wait for my next visit!

Nice restaurant to fill Indian appetite out in the wild Ambiance: Bit smaller, but thankfully tables were not densely put Service: We arrived at 9 pm and was denied the entry even though restaurant is open till 9:30 pm. So much for the professionalism. We did manage to convince them to get us the quick take-out. We returned few days later, and finally could eat with restaurant’s silverware :) service was reasonable otherwise Food: Delicious ! Only reason to bump up the stars. Everything we ordered(Paneer lababdar, Daal tadka, Rangoon kofta) was amazing. Note that Entrée is served with big bowl of rice. Quantity was huge. We loved it Price: As it goes with any Alaskan restaurant, prices are on higher side. If you are fond of Indian cuisine in Alaska, this is amazing little gem.

I don’t just throw around 5 star ratings on Unilocal.Seeing them lined up like that right now gives me anxiety. But I have to do it. And Here’s why: Of all of the restaurants in Anchorage I’ve been to, and I eat out way too much, I’ve eaten more meals here than anywhere else. That gets a star in itself The food is fantastic. I’ve tried almost everything and have never been disappointed. Lamb Saag is a go-to of mine, and the Tikka Marsala that should be used as a baramoter to compare across Indian/Nepalese/Related type restaurants is great. Another star The servers and staff are very nice. Go later in the evening when it’s slower and you may get a free chai, just to try. And a refill. Star. Lastly, they are extremely generous with the groupon offerings. star and star. Hop on the app, buy a groupon and then take a date. Order some things you might not normally order, the portions are plenty large to share. Definitely get some nan, and have fun with it.
