This place is pretty chill. I wandered in and was instantly transported to a Hawaiian surfer hangout in the subarctic. There are plenty of fun choices but I could only choose one for the time being. I ordered the Maui Waui and it really was delicious. It was a cornucopia of fruit, nuts, chocolate, acai yogurt-like stuff, and coconut in a bowl. It makes for a great breakfast, lunch, dinner, or anything in between. It’s just fresh tasting and lovely. I’ll have to come back for the smoothies and other tantalizing-sounding bowls.

Situated in the land of the non-descript, i.e. a strip mall off of Dimond and Arctic, Acai Alaska offers a healthy alternative to a quick meal with fruit bowls, smoothies, vegan soup and even breakfast burritos. Acai(prounced ah-sah-EE) originated in Brazil and is said to be a superfood that when consumed is supposed to give an energy boost and satisfy hunger. Acai Alaska receives their organic acai frozen and then it is mixed with berries to produce the base. The acai bowls are then topped with varying fruit, nuts, seeds, chocolate and honey if your heart so desires. With names like the«purple tide bowl», «maui waui» or the«tiger shark bowl» it brings to mind images of the tropics. Hang loose dude! The base is available in three blends. The original, nutty heaven and hawaiian style. If you are new to the world of acai CJ the owner will be more than happy to help you differentiate which based best serves your palette. The bowls are available in two sizes — medium and large. The inside of Acai Alaska boasts a décor similar to a surf shop and as soon as you walk in the door you will find CJ greeting you quite quickly. The shop also has a furry mascot by the name of Winston. On my last particular visit I didn’t get the joy of seeing him. I happened to be craving something a bit different and healthy today for lunch so decided to swing by. It had been awhile since my last visit. Acai Alaska is a place I forget about even though it’s a great place to grab a meal. I stopped by an ordered a large maui waui to go. On this particular day my eyes were obviously bigger than my stomach as I couldn’t even finish ½ of it. Closer to a 1⁄3 is what I would say. The acai bowl wasn’t bad mind you, it is just that filling! So keep that in mind if you are going for the larger bowl. It is meant for the heartiest of appetites. The toppings are always fresh and tasty! I have yet to try the soup or breakfast burritos, though I would like to. But in the meantime for those times I’m in a hurry I will just continue to swing by and hang loose for a moment or two before surfing off with my lunch.

Goooood stuff! It may sound like just a juice bar, but the Acai bowls are filling and left me full of energy. I like the easy vibes but it’s a little confined when you get more than 3 people in this place, and not much more room to sit. It was kind of dirty with the odd fruit fly going around, but I will give this place credit for healthy and innovative options. Especially for south Anchorage.

Perfect for vegetarians & health conscious people. Rustic Hawaii looking interiors completed with tree bark seats & surf boards. Yum bowls — u have to try it. And food is not expensive for what you pay. There are not many seating space — so better for take outs.

Holy moly this place is outstanding, my new favorite snack and breakfast place, for sure. I had no idea about the acai bowl trend, and I love it. We had the tiger shark bowl and one make-your-own, plus a forget-me-not smoothie. The ingredients are fresh and mixed so well, and I could try something different every time. Next time, I want to try a rice bowl for lunch. The vibe is chillax, creative. The service is also really friendly. Since it was our first time, they gave us a taste of all three bases, which was smart because they were all so good I want to come back here for lunch, today!

I’m new to Anchorage and I’m glad I found this place! I have been here twice in one week. The tiger shark bowl is amazing. I have also tried the veggie burrito and it was super yummy as well. You can tell everything is super fresh. The staff is friend and the music is always good.

Most delicious Acai Bowls EVER! I’ve had many Acai bowls all over the world and by far, ACAIALASKA sets the bar. Yummy fruits, nut and goodies loaded on these fresh ACAI bowls! An array of menu options which include«build your own» Acai bowl. The«Mauna Kea» bowl is my FAVORITE! The atmosphere is filled with the Aloha spirit, very cozy and comfortable. To top it off they have fresh brewed«Kava» unique and tasty. Can’t leave without trying some«Kava» from NEAKAVA.

I don’t think acai bowl places get any better, and I have had my share of them in the lower 48. Great people, lovingly crafted bowls, and burritos to boot? The Ketchikan Kale smoothie is perfect, a blessing. D of stuff you wouldn’t expect to go together and finished off with nutmeg. If an acai place can be gourmet, this is it. The people are awesome too. Get here now.

This is one of my favorite places to eat ! The employees are always friendly and food tastes amazing. I always order the«create your own bowl» with the nutty heaven base . I do however, suggest the employees with long hair wear hair nets. I found a hair in a burrito today and was very disappointed.

I’ve been putting off going to this place for a couple reasons: 1) FEAR that it would be too«hippy-dippy» for a pragmatist like me, or as older folks sometimes say too«granola». 2) IGNORANCE of what exactly an «Acai Bowl» even is. 3) WORRY that the said unknown Acai Bowl would not satiate my colossal hunger. I approached the cramped strip mall, stepped in and discovered: MELLOW. This place has a very mellow ambiance, also commonly known as «chill». It’s a place you’d go after a friend says to you«dude, let’s chill». More specifically, it was darkly lit, with minimal lighting and comfy chairs and even a couch. The music playing is what you would get if you made a «Jack Johnson» Pandora station. I approached the counter and ordered my bowl. I got a large«Maui Waui» bowl. I sat down on the couch. I consumed it. It was good. I was full. What *is* an «Acai Bowl»…I still can’t articulate it in an intuitive way… but that has never stopped me from rambling on before: You have a «base». There is one made with peanut butter, and there is one made without peanut butter. The base is, more or less, a bunch of fruits(including Acai* berries, a so-called«super food») ground up into a «paste». It’s chilled(dude, I told you) and is kind of smoothie/yogurt-like in consistency. Then, a bunch of toppings, usually fruit and nuts, are added to it. Sounds simple, and it is. And it works. It’s delicious. The bowl tastes halfway between a meal and a dessert. There are some 80 degree days coming up next week. Might get another one of these and just… just chill. *Acai berries come from Brazil. It’s a fatty fruit of palm tree. There have been tons of scientifically bankrupt claims about its health. Most have been disproven. It has antioxidants, but not as much as blueberries or grapes. Just think of it as part of the TASTYBASE.

Always good for a natural cold treat & reward! Cool little place, Got a ‘Kitschy’ Surfer Cool vibe. Terrific Acai bowls with fresh berries and nuts, coconut etc. My only suggestion is one time I remember our daughter bought a small bowl(called a medium bowl). It’s too small for the price! Always get the the large bowl! Very Ono! Found out about them as they were giving samples during a CHARR sponsored golf tournament a few years back. Been going ever since! Daughters love it!

I love this place! They very often have groupons, or specials so look for them, otherwise it is a bit spendy. Even still though I would still spend the money. The whole place has a very laid back, kindof Hawaiian island vibe to it. Nothing fancy, but I always feel kindof chill, and relaxed when I enter. I must admit I haven’t branched out much here. I mean when I find something I love, I tend to just stick with it. I always get the Mauna Kea bowl with the original base. It’s a little of everything. It has a like smoothie base on the bottom made from Acai, banana, strawberries, blueberries, and Marion berries. Then on top they put fresh fruit(pineapple, kiwi, and pomegranate seeds, and blackberries) flax granola, hemp and flax seeds, goji berries, shaved coconut, chocolate covered almonds, sliced almonds, walnuts, and macadamia nuts. It’s like an energy bowl. Very low sugar and good for you! It really is very refreshing and you don’t feel guilty eating it because everything about it just tastes fresh and like its good for you! Acai Bowls are very popular in Hawaii so whenever I go here its like being transported on a mini vacation. I have tasted the PB base before and didn’t really like it. I’m not a huge PB fan. Give this place a try, I hear they have great smoothies, and a host of other things too, but their Acai Bowls are awesome!

I instantly feel healthier the moment I step in here. The ingredients have always been fresh, delicious and varied. If they run out of something, they are quick to suggest an alternative. I have never had the peanut butter base — not a big PB fan(I know, the horror, the shame!), but I have heard from other PB lovers that it’s delicious. I almost always get the mauna kea or tiger shark with the original base(a varied amount of different, blended fruits). The staff is crazy friendly and chill — especially the owner, CJ. I always take to go, because I’m always on the run on that side of town. I do think the interior décor/lighting/furniture can come off a bit tired, but I think that’s part of its overall charm. Try this place out next time you’re looking for a healthy boost and I have no doubt you’ll be charmed into coming back.

When you walk into Acai, you are greeted by with warm(Hawaii/Surf) décor and handmade furniture and art. The menu is a well laid out chalkboard with all menu items clearly marked. If it’s your first time, don’t worry, they are more than willing to offer samples and to take time to explain everything to you. I highly recommend any of the bowls and the burrito. CJ has done a brilliant job of matching flavors and textures to make a simple breakfast a very enjoyable experience. The Kava(drink) is an interesting treat that you won’t find many other places also. Overall, if you’re looking for healthy, fun, and not just your usual bakery, diner, or café, Acai Alaska should be your next stop. With friendly service, great food, and a comfortable space, this place will not disappoint!
