Peggy’s is not going to knock your socks of with their food. Its comfort dining food that will take you back to the down to earth world of the 50s, which happens to be the same era their furniture is from. I like the place because it reminds me of home and can get get me a good old fashioned breakfast.

Their pies are famous. But don’t order dinner!!! I had shrimp scampi($ 18 +) They are frozen, tough, tasteless and served in a pool of oil, not sure what kind. Mash potatoes are by far the worst, steam veg YUCK!!! The reason I am giving this place 2 stars is because the waitress is very professional and the rhubarb pies is so YUMMY.

First of all: an apology. I didn’t get any pie. According to my fellow Unilocalers, that’s what you DO here. Anyway, this is a pretty standard, traditional diner. It’s in kind of an odd location, near(but not in) downtown and across the street from Anchorage’s «other» airport. It’s right next to a VERY busy road. You’ve probably blown by here a million times and not even noticed. I got the«Working Man’s Breakfast» which is one of two breakfasts that come with… pretty much every breakfast item there is. It was big. I did not feel like working afterwards. I felt like watching the football game. And I don’t like football. Waitress was really nice. They leave a pitcher of coffee at your table(ala Gwennie’s) but it’s kind of TINY on the inside. Only big enough for about one refill. Maybe I’m a coffee glutton, or maybe they need bigger pitchers!

Let’s start with the REAL strawberry rhubarb jam: tasty, with just a hint of spiciness to indicate real… Just like it was made in Alaska before everything became too sweet! Breakfast unpretentious and REAL. Great bacon, ask for the home fries, REAL cut up potatoes, crispy fried. Eggs perfectly scrambled, with… Get this… REAL cheddar cheese as requested. No not a fancy place nor one of Anchorage’s spate of trendy wendy spots but having been to all of those un the last six months, I’ll rest here for my remaining few. PS no idea about lunch, dinner or pies.

Never again, I waited forever to get a menu and I had to order my coffee with my meal, when ordering I felt like I was rushed and the waitress threw my beverages on the table next me, I didn’t get a greeting on top of that. Found out there was only one server, but that doesn’t excuse her attitude, the food was mediocre.

First place we went to for our very first breakfast outing in Alaska. That was 3 years ago and had been our go to breakfast place since then. Everything is responsibly priced and in big portions you get the classic diner taste. Never had their pies though but they always look good. Gonna have to try one before we leave.

Well, this was a great dinning experience! Our 11AM breakfast, was huge. 4 egg ham and cheese omelet, extra well home fries, wheat toast. YUMMY! I sent my compliments to the chef, best home fries ever. My aunt and uncle had the hash browns and they look average. They had Denver and hubby had western omelets or vise versa, hubby had the one w/cheese. 5 star food quality. Our server is expecting a boy– she was attentive and expert at her job. Well done This peggy was super impressed and your Peggy would be very pleased! A landmark resturant!

I think all the reviews here, both positive and negative, have merit. I don’t really have a lot to add to the discussion, except to say that you’re either a Peggy’s type of person or you aren’t. I like old skool diners ALOT, and Peggy’s is a totally old fashioned diner. They have those amazing wrap around counters that are so rare nowadays. The kind that force you to make eye contact and rub elbows with strangers. The kind of place where if you visit regularly, you won’t stay a stranger very long. You’ll make friends and be treated like family. The food isn’t spectacular, but it is homemade and honest. The pie is pretty good. The choices are mind boggling. Oh and the tempura onion rings are the SHIZZLE. Yep. I’ll be back for sho. I’m in the market to make some friends.

Peggys is a great institution in Anchorage with a rich history of serving the pilot and aero community of Merrill Field. I have not been to Peggys in years, but had the occasion to go early one morning while waiting on my truck at Anchorage Dodge. Same good diner food, and very nice servers. Décor has not changed in years. Just had basic eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, toast & coffee. Was just great.

PIE! PIE! PIE!!! Well, I am supposed to be writing my paper for legal writing class, but I would rather write about PIE!!! Peggy’s is a lovely little diner out by the airport(not the big one, Merrill Field — the fun one). They make good food and the waitresses are the classic diner waitresses, and everything is worth your time to head out there. But the pies… Is there anything better than a perfect pie? You’ll never have to decide when you are at Peggy’s, because the pies are plentiful and perfect. I can’t even imagine how many they make each day, because there are always quite a few available on the menu. I would die for a piece of Peggy’s rhubarb pie right about now but there are so many others I would love to lay a lip over… The food is good, the atmosphere is fun and genuinely Alaskan/diner/awesome. It’s a wonderful place to go any time of day and have a great meal. But the pie… The pie is something I dream of — you will too!

Gross! Dirty! This place is disgusting. The tables are old and look like they haven’t been wiped… The condiment bottles on the table are dirty and crusted with gunk. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and the biscuits were old! I can’t believe this place is open for business… Staff is unprofessional. I will not be eating here again…

I can see why this place is known for their pie, it was awesome! The restaurant itself is dated, has an old diner feel to it. Upon entering we were greeted kindly by the waitress. We opted to sit at the counter and one of the other staff(could have been the waitress’s husband?) engaged in conversation with us while we browsed the menu. As for food, it was good. Everything came out fresh and the portions were more than enough. We ended up ordering our pie to go along with a box of leftovers. The place was pretty slow when we got there but got busy in a matter of minutes. The waitress had to call in some extra help. Help arrived in a matter of minutes and saved the day as there were two large groups that had shown up. Overall we had a great dinner here and would recommend it to others. We ended up here by chance, when another place were tried going to was closed. This place is open on Sundays!

Very average food. No one at the table finished their burger. The building is old, dated and dirty. The service was very s l o w. This is my first and last visit here.
