I am so upset with this place. If I could give no stars I would! The staff are snotty as ever to the customers, they take people out of order and tell you to step aside when it’s your turn. And to top everything else off… They got my prescription wrong then tried to tell me it is was my fault! How is it my fault when you can’t get the script correct the first time. I have two pairs of glasses with awesome frames They made me pay extra for my lenses because I didn’t use one of their frames. Never ever come to this place… RUNAWAYASFASTASYOUCAN!!! Please learn from my mistakes I WILL find a new optical institution next year. This was horrible I was so wrong about this place… It has changed big time!!! DONOTCOMEHERE whatever you do if this is the last place do not come here They treat their customers poorly too! The front staff treat you like you are dirt Stay away from this place… Looks truly are deceiving– nice looking facility horrible service Back of the house staff are nicer than front of house staff but it doesn’t make up for front of house behaviors and actions. They tell you to wait then they make you feel like an idiot because you waited like the told you to do in the first place! THEYARERUDE! STAYAWAY! IMNEVERCOMINGBACK!

Southside Eyecare, also known as Nyboer & Associates, is among the best practices I have taken my poor myopic self. Stationed on the first floor below a spa, the place looks and feels like its neighbor, with high ceilings, leather armchairs, and that spick-and-span spa glow. If you think that needing glasses is akin to needing neurosurgery and you just love that tender bedside manner and homey dentist feel, N&A is not for you. But if you value efficiency, competence, and consummate professionalism, it absolutely is. I saw Dr. Stemmle here. She and her exam tech were both friendly and outgoing but still very much to the point. After the exam, I put in an order for contacts and came back for a fitting and a follow-up(two visits) with the lens tech. As is standard, they will see you and refit you as many times as you want, and you pay only when you are happy with your lenses. I caught the lens tech on a busy day and had a bit of a wait, but once I was in there, she acted very nicely as though she had all the time in the world for my half hour of questions. Service at the front desk is quick and friendly, too. The charges are very reasonable, and were almost entirely covered by VSP, which as far as I am aware is the only individual plan you can get. Downsides: — A relatively limited selection of eyewear, though maybe not more limited than other optometrists — just variations on the current trend. — Fairly busy phone, but at least no hold music. — Dr. Stemmle only saw me for the exam, not for any of the follow-ups. There was no reason for her to look in on the follow-ups, but it’s kind of one of those standard, useless gestures. — I asked about PRK noted that what they consider a good result(e.g., 20⁄40 to 20⁄60) or a reasonable expectation(e.g., 20⁄40 slipping down several diopters) is rather less spectacular than what any Bay Area would present as typical. I would be very hesitant to get eye surgery in Anchorage. But for the routine stuff, I am duly impressed and settled in here.
