Great for families or after work drink. They’re menu isn’t amazeballs but it’s clever, and has some varied selection. I hear raves about the pizza, but I think I recall it had chunky marinara — and I’m not a fan of that. Had the rockin bayou pasta — it came to the table hot hot hot as promised. Creamy sauce with just a bit o kick. Went there tonight with hubs n son had a fine dinner and excellent service. Our server Kris was attentive and thoughtful. Didn’t get it this time because — full — but their chocolate chip skillet dessert thing is indeed, amazeballs.

Horrible experience! We ordered the Chips and Queso for an appetizer, the cheese was unmelted in the center and it took at least 20 minutes to get a refill of a handful of chips. Took about an hour for our pizzas and sandwich to get to the table, and of course, the pizzas were cold. Finally, never once did we get a refill of our drinks. I’m more forgiving on busy nights, but with only about 15 tables filled, the service and food tonight was awful.

Me and my wife, along with the kids went to this place because it was our 7 year«date a versary.» I heard mixed reviews, but when I go to a restaurant I usually look for outstanding customer service, great food, and the pleasure of the wife. If you can please her you are on our list of places to go. We went on a quiet day so that’s good compared to going on a busy day. The customer service was on point with Latrell as our waiter. He was honest and was a straight shooter on what to get. He was trainer a new person and she was even good. I got the burger man burger which is just a bacon cheese burger with Chipotle mayo. Their cheese sticks was pretty good and their appetizer ribs were really good. If you ask me, this was one of the better places that we have ate at in a while. With restaurants it’s about staying consistent, and I want to see this restaurant stay this away, all the time. NIGHTAND day.

The new queso dip is not good at all. It was more like dipping chips into soup. Please go back to the thicker recipe !!! Our waiter Joel was fabulous !!! Very friendly and attentive

Every time I go here I order something different and I always get a little bit sick from eating and end up with a huge tummyache. Their drinks are pretty good and just make sure you take some Pepto before or after eating dinner lol

Do you ever have a customer that wants to know what exactly is in your gluten-free pizza dough? I’m that person. I already feel bad about it, but the chef’s here were really accommodating and gave me some other recommendations if I wasn’t sold on the pizza. I ended up with their main burger and gluten-free bun. I’d say service time is pretty standard, and the burger was… just a burger. I admit I just got the plain-Jane burger on the menu, but it looked kinda sad next to my wilted fries. My dining partner got the house pilsner, which tasted and smelled a lot like Miller. Maybe that’s just how their beer is, but it wasn’t anything noteworthy. My red wine tasted like the bottle had been opened already for two days. I would suggest sitting in the bar area; it’s a lot more lively(the atmosphere actually matches the décor) and the bartenders that do wait service also are good at doling out food and drink suggestions.

I have always been a big supporter of The Rock Wood Fired Pizza since my first day of finding their restaurants while on vacation in Washington State. The pizza was excellent and they won my heart with the margarita buckets. The margarita buckets became a regular in my life when I found they were opening the Anchorage location. I was there on opening night and nearly every week thereafter. I had always had good service and good food there, despite the less than stellar reviews from others. So when I decided to step out for lunch on Friday during my staycation, I decided to treat myself to a margarita bucket and some good pizza. I stopped at the Anchorage location about 1:50 p.m. on Friday to only find a few cars in the parking lot. I knew the buffet time had passed and that they would be moving on to their dinner menu shortly. I walked in to find no one at the front counter waiting to seat me. So I started to wait, and wait, and wait. The bartender saw me and went back to cleaning the bar. Still no one came forward to help me. After 10 minutes I decided to walk into the restaurant portion to try and find someone to seat me. A server(who would later become the server for my meal) looked at me. If looks could kill? Let’s just say I wasn’t filled with warm fuzzies after that look. But she came over a few minutes later and was giving off kind of an awkward air. I asked if there was a problem? Apparently the issue was I couldn’t be served from the lunch menu. No big deal. I was getting ready to order my margarita bucket when. WHEREWASTHEMARGARITABUCKET?! It wasn’t on the menu. Surely this was a mistake? I knew April Fool’s Day is coming up so perhaps they were pulling it on me early. Or I was being punked. I asked where the margarita bucket was only to be told they no longer serve them. I may have fainted at that point, I am not really sure. But I certainly let my server know how disappointed I was and how I had come specifically for that item. I was told they still had buckets. Yeah but I didn’t want some fruity rum drink or vodka. I wanted my beloved margarita. So in the end I sighed and asked for a diet coke. I checked in on Unilocal and asked for the mozzarella bread that is offered as a perk. I remember last time I was there how good it was. About 15 minutes later it came out. What the hell was this? I thought. It was awfully flat. Is this really bread? I also ordered a yellow brick road small pizza(i.e. Canadian bacon with pineapple). The crust was as flat as the mozzarella bread. The server did warm up after a while. But I’m sorry The Rock. This will be my last visit to your establishment. What I don’t understand is why did you do away with such a popular menu item? I know they are popular because I saw your margarita buckets served quite often. And the server verified that information. If anyone from Corporate happens to read this review, please consider bringing them back. Because I’m reminded of the scene from the movie«The Gladiator» when Maximus says«Marcus Aurelius had a dream that was Rome, Proximo. This is not it! This is NOTIT» Apparently we mere mortals are not the only thing that are shadows and dust. My beloved margarita bucket is as well. Shadows and dust.

UPDATE: They’re doing it right — I decided to give them another try, since they aren’t far from my house and we were hungry(plus with an infant if he cries, no worries, right?) Seated immediately, greeted by server immediately and friendly, quick response to the Unilocal deal and the new manager found his way to the table to make sure everything was good — !!! I showed him the last bad experience I had, and he recognized the review(he actually responded to it), he wasn’t all over me offering me free stuff — which I appreciate — he was professional and he seemed to care about the service here. I was very impressed. I’ll be here with my sons, and I’ll be back more often. I love what they’ve done with the food since the last time — the prawns are fantastic now, and it’s just a comfortable place to be. Thanks for the extra effort, manager dudes. Extremely poor reception by the front desk staff. We walked in, another group of people walked out of the bar and were put on a list ahead of us, THEN we were given attitude by the girl at the reception desk, who explained that it «may be a long time» before we could get seated since they had several parties and all the booths were full — which they weren’t, since I could see several open. I get it. The staff would rather work the«mandatory gratuity» tables(parties of 6 or more) then actually have to deal with clients that expected service. This place went downhill, as evidence by my 5, then 3, then this 1-star rating. I’m over it. LOTS of places to get pizza around this town.

This little pizza joint is located behind the Burlington’s Coat Factory at the Northway Mall. It’s in a really inconvenient location, and because of that– it’s almost never busy. With that being said, this little rock-inspired pizza eatery is definitely worth stopping into. I live a few blocks away and come here semi-frequently(about once a month) to dine on their yummy pizza options. This place has some crazy cool décor. It looks like you’re walking into an old worn down city with rock-inspired art hanging on the walls. It’s hard to explain, but you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about once you’re inside. In the summer they have outdoor eating and open a large window in the front of the restaurant. They also have a wood pit surrounded by bar seating that is lit year round(indoors). This place has booths, tables, and a bar. It’s always kept very clean and the lighting, although dim, fits the aura of the place nicely. I’ve been in here on weekday nights and weekend nights and honestly the place is never busy. They’re always well-staffed, but under-customered. This establishment is HUGE and there’s plenty of seating. With that being said, there have been nights that I’ve walked in and been one of two people there. It’s really a shame, because this place has a lot to offer. Their menu includes an array of unique pizzas. Their pizzas are greasy and full of meat. I love greasy pizza, but it’s not everyone’s forte. If you’re not a fan of heavy pizza options, skip this place. With that being said if you want something 100% unhealthy but totally delicious, dive right into the food here. One of their favorites is this pizza that has a ton of meat on it. It’s called something like the«Big, Beefy, Meaty’ or something like that. SO greasy and full of meat and just genuinely good. They also have a chicken pizza with bacon, onions, and a white sauce. UGH! So good! On the other hand, not –all– of their pizzas are up to par. They have a weird Hawaiian-inspired pizza that has pulled pork, pineapple, onions, and barbeque sauce. It fell short and is not an option that I’ll want to try again. They have a good array of appetizers and for the price you pay you always get a good portion. Their nachos are super yummy and you can add on extra things like sour cream and guacamole for a cheap price. They have a few desserts as well including an oreo shake and a warm chocolate chip cookie(served with ice cream!). Oh my gosh, it’s so good. My only complaint actually isn’t my complaint– it’s my boyfriends. He refuses to go to this place with me because their beer selection just genuinely sucks. He’s tried every single one of their beers and isn’t a fan of any of them. Pizza and beer(in his mind) go hand in hand, so the fact that they’re lacking a quality alcoholic beverage for him to sip on while he eats deters him from this place. They do have a full bar with other drink options as well, but I personality haven’t delved into those. I come here for the pizza, not the drinks. But, I did dock this place a star because my boyfriend is so avidly against coming here due purely to their lack of decent beer. The staff are always very friendly, prompt, and well-informed on menu options. They’re pretty medium-priced for Anchorage. They’re not necessarily expensive, but they’re not cheap either. With that being said, because I live near them– I frequent them often. It’s a fun environment and it’d make a great place to bring the family out to eat. But because it’s located in such an odd spot(and is really hidden unless you know it’s there), it doesn’t get the amount of business it deserves. I say, seek it out and try it out. You might be impressed.

Went in for dinner this past Saturday evening around 6:30. There was about 5 tables scattered throughout the bar and I was pleasantly surprised it wasn’t packed. We were sat and received menus from the very friendly host. We perused the menu and waited. And, waited, and waited. After about 25 minutes we went to the bar and ordered drinks. The bartender was extremely rude when we asked to have the drinks put on our dinner order. He told us that we would have to pay for them separately and when I let him know no one had even come to take our order, he very peevishly informed me that there were 2 waiters in the bar that evening and insisted we pay for the drinks. There is no excuse for such awful customer service. The lack of acknowledgement by the wait staff and discourteous behavior of the bartender will keep me from darkening their door step again.

I’ve been to The Rock at least 20 times in the past 3 years and everytime I go there there seems to be a reoccurring theme: Tasty pizza, inconsistent or poor service. I like their pizza! The After Midnight and Meaty Beaty are very good. As good as Mooses Tooth? NOWAY. But The Rock is closer and offers a different take on pizza. It’s good to switch it up from The Tooth on occasion. That being said, The Rock’s prices are ridiculous. On my most recent visit I ordered a drink called The Smash. It was served in a short whiskey style glass with the obscene price of $ 12.00. $ 12.00??? For one small drink?! I could have gotten a bucket for that price! That really shocked me. I felt betrayed after that drink. I tried to brush it off though and not let it ruin my night. I ordered a medium pizza. Half Meaty Beaty, half After Midnight. I asked the waitress if I could get extra olives on the After Midnight. The waitress said, «They might charge you extra for that but I’ll ask.» I responded that that was fine with me. The pizza eventually came out with NO extra olives and NO explanation as to why. I doubt she even asked. I’m assuming she forgot to ask or maybe the cooks just told her to F off. Whatever. Not a huge deal. Pizza was tasty as always but I just can’t get over the price. $ 20.00 for a «medium» pizza… it’s just too much for what you get. I can see why this place is getting less and less customers. Everytime I have gone lately it has been dead. Maybe people are fed up with the high prices and rude and inattentive servers. I’ll be back to The Rock for a drink and pizza but I wouldn’t be surprised if this place closed it’s doors in the near future. Overpriced but sometimes tasty. I’ll leave it to my fellow Unilocalers to decide if it’s a worthwhile venture!

Looks like all of the other reviews compliment this place for the ambience. And, they are correct. Some pretty cool things going on. We went here for lunch based on a suggestion from a coworker. Kind of a cold and wet day out and we luckily enough to be here for a late lunch and sat at the fire table. Very enjoyable and were able to warm up very quickly. Since it was near 2 in the afternoon on a Wednesday, they weren’t very busy and service was quick, friendly and the delivery was spot on. Between the 3 of us we had the house made quesa and chips, sweet chili hot wings, turkey club and 2 different burgers. The food was all very tasty. If you haven’t been here I would say it’s worth a shot.

I am SO picky and I was a little(lot) worried when a friend of mine suggested we come here. I checked out Unilocal,as I always do, and was not looking forward to a 2.5 start restaurant. The waiter, Jay, was super friendly and prompt. I had the deep delist Evil Ways pizza. Thick, chewy, slightly crispy on the edge. Yum! My salad was cold and fresh and crispy. The dressing was obviously homemade with large chunks of blue cheese. The manager stopped by and checked in us. He was full of smiles and jokes. Just a great experience. I will definitely come back the next time I come up to Anchorage. My husband will love the wide selection of foods. Everything that walked past us looked great. Please disregard those bad entries and give them a shot. Even the lady walking out as I walked in leaned in to me and said to try the flank steak hat it was to die for. This place was spot on.

Drinks are great, but their food is not the best. I have been a few times and chosen sandwiches over their pizzas & pastas. The BLT actually has a lot of bacon on it and I like their fries. Service is lacking and the atmosphere while decorated well, is stiff. Dont expect a great experience here, but its a nice change at times.

Another restaurant review based on specific needs. Going to Tikahtnu for a movie and want dinner on the way? great. Uh. I think that’s about it on specifics. This place isn’t bad, once you succumb to the realization that it’s a wildly decorated chain restaurant offering decent food at a high price. See? now you can’t really set yourself up for disappointment. Twice I have had their burgers and shared a chicken sandwich on baguette(I tried to find it on the menu for specifics, but I remember it has artichoke hearts, mozz, feta and a handful of other delicious toppings). The burger and sandwich, honestly, we’re terrific. The side salad was just fine(though I did get the impression they are pre-made and sit ready to go in a dedicated fridge). I did appreciate the number of house-made dressing options. I probably wouldn’t venture far from those basic dinner choices lest I be disappointed. I have also had the stuffed mushroom appetizer twice(mushroom caps stuffed with italian meatballs, simmered in french onion soup and literally smothered in cheese. It’s gooey, rich, largely portioned, and GUARANTEED to stick about 5 lbs to each thigh. Is it sophisticated, refined and elegant in presentation? hell no — that’s not the point. I actually enjoy their house IPA, too. Sure enough, The Rock brews their own line of beers, so of course I had to try a sampling. The bottom line is, yes, this place is a little cheesy. Ok, maybe A LOT cheesy. But it hits primal food and beer desires and is a heck of a lot better than many other chains out there.

You know I saw some of the reviews for this place and said ehhhh. But I went. It was a pretty good experience. I loved the atmosphere and the music. Our server was excellent. Drinks are very reasonably priced. Food was average, nothing special but about right for the price. Tip: the New England clam chowder was NOT good. Watery and garlicky… with no potatoes to be found. Seriously don’t get it. Our server said it was hit or miss and she was right. I’ll be back. I thought it was pretty okay for the prices and service.

Go for the uh-mazing drinks and atmosphere, not for the food. Food is definitely mediocre at best. But the bar is frigging awesome. Love the cool flaming counter and all the rock memorabilia. Drinks are very heavy handed, so if you wanna get f’d up and not spend a million bucks, this is a good spot. Drinks are interesting and tasty. Their big buckets o’ booze are only 12 dollars. Definitely get a designated driver or call a cab because the location of this place ducks and you can’t walk anywhere from here. The Northway Mall Is not a destination. So get blasted with some friends, and take a cab home. The Rock is perfect for a girls night out.
