Hood Wings

They do not accept the Groupon as of April 5^th, 2016.
My Groupons have now expired; each weekend I call asking if they are accepting the Groupons I paid for.
Great wings on the Easy side of town! Be prepared to wait for your order. Give them 20 minutes longer than they tell you. Looks like a chill and fun place to work. I like seeing local places hiring people within the community. I joked with the employees as I waited. I was given complimentary items because of the wait, but my order was still wrong and I received slightly less wings than the number I paid for. Don’t get me wrong, the wings were BOMB, but, sadly, not what I ordered. I will be coming here again because their wings were amazing.

Darn good wings. Had the inferno nice and hot. Wings came out crispy but not over cooked.

Mediocre wings, terrible time estimates waiting, and unpleasant business transactions.
The first time we ordered, they told us 20 minutes so we got there in 20 minutes but were just preparing the food. They told us they weren’t accepting Groupons, but after we paid they let someone on the phone use their Groupon. We ordered again to try to use the Groupon after October 1^st and claimed Groupon didn’t pay them so we were SOL because it was expiring.
Also, it looked as though the employees didn’t demonstrate cleanliness when cooking.

Don’t do it. This place is advertised on Groupon but is not accepting them. What kind of business does that?

The place could be cleaner and the staff could be more appealing but the wing are the best I’ve had in anchorage. I understand the whole in the wall appearance has people turned off. The Groupon thing got me too but they’ve since fixed it. If you’ve had better wing here in anchorage please let me know, I have yet to find it.

Place is dirty, workers dirty. Would not accept Groupon & I did not care because after seeing the place I didn’t really want them touching anything I would eat.

This is a great place to eat, get to know the owner, he is a hard working man. I don’t know him personally but we got to know him.

Now I know what your thinking. Hood wings? Like from the hood right? But why the hood? Because they go by the saying «it’s all good in the hood» which is true with hood wings. From the many choices of flavors and the price with the happy, helpful workers. It sure shows you it really is all good in the hood.

I must say I was shocked by the amount of negative comments. But to each it’s own. I must say I was more than satisfied with my service as well as food quality that I received today. My son had the Mckracken wings (outstanding) and flavorful and I myself had the sweet Chile which were tasty as well. I must say this is NOT fast food which means it takes more than 5 minutes to prepare. I myself appreciate the time and effort put into the preparation. I will definitely return.

Called in hours before to pick up ahead of time, came in at scheduled time to find out they ran out of food… no problem I can wait. An hour later and 2 walk ins getting their orders before me, I finally get mine. I’m a little disgruntled to say that I felt my time their wasnt being valued. Bad service.

First of all I purchased a groupon a couple weeks ago, and these people had signs up saying they would accept this groupon until after October 1 due to Groupon not paying them. THIS is not my problem and I already paid for the wings and expected to use it immediately as there was NOT any exclusionary period or use by date.
Secondly, these people don’t answer their phone which resulted in not one but two trips to get wings. The first trip was met with limited options because they didn’t have breading ingredients and told would be 10 mins. 20 minutes later, we were told that they were waiting on a Costco run and they’d have to deliver within 20 minutes. An hour plus later we made a second trip to get our wings as we were still waiting and no answering phones meant we had to drive back. As we walked in, they said wings just left. We got back in the car, drove back to work, and they again were not here. They showed up 5 minutes later.
Needless to say, whether these are good wings or not, the service sucks and we will never order from them again.

On Wednesday, I bought a great Groupon for Hood Wings. After work this evening, I figured I’d use the groupon (20 wings for $ 9). I’ve never been there before. Anyways, got to the counter, told her I had the groupon, and she told me that they’re not honoring it until October 1^st, because Groupon is behind on paying them. Rather than argue, I just told her that I thought that was a very weird thing to do, and I left. Groupon is processing my refund. Guess I’ll never know what the food is like at Hood Wings, because I have no intention of going back.

Not sure how this place was voted the best wings in anchorage… The wings were very dry and the sauce was not kinda bland. I ordered 40 wings and they shorted me 10 wings! The whole eating experience truly felt like the «hood.» I prefer getting the wings at sewards folly. Much juicer and bigger too!

The worst customer service. This was my second experience here. My first was so terrible that I swore I wouldn’t come back again. However, my boyfriend enjoyed his previous experience so I figured I would give them another chance.
On arrival we stood in line for ten minutes while the cashier chit chatted with her «brother.» I will give it to her that she apoligized after. We then placed are order and she neglected to give us our drink. We then waited about 20 minutes. My boyfriend had to ask for his soda and we requested ranch and ketchup. We were charged .50 cents for one. I can understand if we requested multiple but for one to go with the chicken tenders seemed ridiculous. She then gave us our ranch but not the ketchup. She proceeded to give her brother and his friends barbecue sauce (without charge). When they asked for ketchup she gave it to them. As she walked away, my boyfriend had to ask another gentleman behind the counter for ketchup. He was kind enough to get that for us.
To top it off right before leaving she gave her brother and his friends more sauce… No charge of course.
The experience was extremely poor and I found it unprofessional. I guess that’s the quality customer service you can expect from a fast food joint but I will never eat there again.

Look out Oakland, the chicken, and waffles here KICK BUTT!!! And the lady who waited on us (Crystal), went out of her way to be helpful.

I would love to say that they have the best wings in town. However every time I go there to eat they are out of supplies. I have yet to actually enjoy the wings that I would want to eat. The service is semi mediocre. The wait is long I know they cook to order but if you’re not good I have all the sauces that you say you have then why even offer them?

Don’t expect anything special. Your taste buds will not remember anything about this place, however your experience will. You can’t say you were not warned.

Great wings and in my opinion, Anchorage’s best wings. The location is in the struggling Northway mall at the former Orange Julius location. This is a great heaven for dad’s to relax and enjoy great food while the wife and kids are searching for bargains the one of the many Northway Mall stores.

Damn good food. Don’t let the name or location put you off. If you care about food and flavor, come eat here. If you can’t eat at a place because they play music you don’t like or they have tattoos then go get mcdonalds. I’m a 50 year old white guy and even I felt welcomed. Even if I didn’t I would still go back as it has some of the better wings in town. Try the sauces. It’s all cooked to order. You’ll love it.

Well, they are definitely ‘hood.’
When we walked up to the wing joint the first thing you see is a baby play-​pen in the doorway complete with infant, a carseat on one of the 3 tables, and a baby stroller against one of the walls. It’s like Hood Baby Wings??? Baby Hood Wings?
They have 10 or so different styles of wings that they offer but no explanation as per what they are so we ordered 20 Buffalo style wings and took a seat at one of the tables. They were ready in less than 10 minutes and came in a Styrofoam container whether you were eating there or leaving. The menu says all wings come with celery, carrots and blue cheese. When I asked if ours were to come with any the women behind the counter said she guessed so and would have to cut some up. Turns out they were out of celery and our carrots were baby carrots cut in half. I then asked for blue cheese and she wasn’t sure if she had any… Wings were ok but not 20 for $ 18.99. And though they were technically cooked, I would have felt more comfortable if they were in the fryer for another minute or two… Safety first folks — especially in the Northway Mall.
I didn’t feel as if we were welcome or they were happy for our business — everyone seemed more interested in tending to the baby or sitting in the hallway rather than running their food counter.
