I had driven by this Asian/Korean Bakery several times and made a mental note to stop by at some point. Finally stopped by here randomly the other day after a round of pin slaying over at Center Bowl and was not disappointed :-) The location is in an iffier part of town along Spenard(just down the street from Center Bowl), but it’s well worth stopping by. I didn’t get to experience the kindliness of the lady that runs the place as some other posters have mentioned, but the service I received from the man that was working at the time was standard/acceptable and was a quick in-n-out. I tried the Turban Rolls and uh-mer-gawd, it was pretty darn good. The bread was soft and flavorful, and whatever they put in the cream custard filling ensures that I’ll be back for more. They have a wide variety of pastries to try. So I would recommend coming often and with a sweet tooth :-)

Yummy is right. Pastries are phenomenal. It’s a little off the beaten path but parking is abundant. The coconut pastry is out of this world, literally melts in your mouth.

Don’t be afraid of how shady this place looks from the outside, it is not a Korean massage parlor. The sweets here are amazing… get their early for maximum variety. They also serve omelets for breakfast… I will update once I try a few of them.

I am a huge fan of their milk bread, i usually eat it with honey butter. I also love their coconut bread. I agree with Teresa, the lady at cashier is really nice.

Not everything is a winner, but the milk bread and the turban rolls(sweet bread filled with whipped cream custard) are PHENOMENAL. I don’t think anyone makes a better, more unctuous challah-style bread than Yummy Bakery. They call it «milk bread.» You can stick your whole arm into the loaf and eat it from the inside out… I’m just sayin’. It could happen. If you need bread for a killer lobster roll or toast points for foie gras, avoid all American and French bakeries and run to Yummy. Absolutely nothing compares. I’d go here more often, but I probably gain 5 lbs with each trip. So until I can learn to control myself, the visits will be sporadic. Of note: I have not enjoyed many other things I’ve tried, including macaroons, cookies, red bean buns, and other buns. They’ve been lackluster in comparison to the other options.

I love, love, love this bakery. I’ve lived a stone’s throw from this place for months now and finally resolved to stop by. Mistaaaaaaaake! This place is the bomb!!! I went late in the day when there wasn’t much left to choose from, but I still managed to snag some awesome stuff. My favorite was the red bean bread. Second fave had to be the almond bun. Super cheap too! Only 2 bucks and change for two. My sweetie loved the gianlantalicious wheat bread which had PERFECT structure and texture. I could take or leave the Korean style cornbread flowers I got though. 3 outta 4 ain’t bad though! And what makes this place even cooler– the lady that runs the bakery is SUPER sweet. Genuinely nice person, and I LIKE giving my business to nice people. I’ll be a regular for sure cause it’s good, and this broke chick can actually afford it. YAY all around for Yummy Bakery.

I’ve been coming here on-and-off for five years. I thought they disappeared when they left Fireweed, but I was super psyched when I saw they weren’t too far on 36th. The lady who runs the front counter, while not very fluent in English, is so sweet and nice and helpful. I loooove the milk bread, and have to get a loaf or two whenever I go in. The bread is literally melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness, and it’s really hard to not eat the entire thing along. Their other pastries and breads are equally amazing, and reasonably priced. They’re also open strangely late for a bakery. I’ve driven by around 8pm, and their«open» sign is still lit. I’d probably opt for going early in the morning, however, to snag all the favorite goodies.

Very quaint, charming little place. Nothing is overly sweet, as to appeal to asian taste-buds. There are castella cakes, cookies, asian style bread, tarts, and other varieties of cake. The owner is very kind and engaging with customers. A downside is that it’s not as obvious to spot when on the road, you have to search for it. When we were looking for it the 1st time it looked like it was part of the automobile sales lot. This is a wonderful place that deserves a lot more foot traffic and I feel is really underrated(either because of poor signage or location, etc.) It’s clean and comfortable, very casual, and a big upgrade from their previous location which was quite small with little to no seating, so good for them. The only drawback is that apparently the husband is a perpetual jerk who doesn’t respond to anything you say, unless it’s to disagree with you, but the wife is very kind. It’s a night/day contrast. So don’t be surprised, he’s like that with everyone. Note: make sure you come from Spenard onto 36th instead of Arctic, otherwise you’ll have to make a u-turn at the Spenard W 36th intersection/

I’ve passed by this Korean bakery many times before finally making a stop to satisfy my custard bun craving. Honestly, they weren’t that great compared to the ones I had at Charlie’s Bakery. The coconut buns, and cookies, however, were pretty dam tasty. This place has a wide selection of baked goods. Enough to satisfy all sorts of taste buds, so you should be able to find something that you’ll like. I’d always notice they were out of whip cream bread; no matter the time or day I’d stop in. Must be good, right? After finally understanding the owner(you need to make an order the night before), I got a chance to try this elusive bread. Make sure to pick it up straight from the oven. I’ve never seen a loaf of bread like this before in my life. They pipe freshly whipped cream into the freshly baked bread that’s sliced like an accordion. I wasn’t even sure on how to proceed with eating it, but it was good nonetheless. side note*** the owner gave me free cookies for helping her with some English homework. LOL.
