I go to see Tanya to get my hair cut and colored. She does a fantastic job and the salon itself has a nice atmosphere. The prices are a little high, but to have a consistent hair routine it’s worth it. I like that you get to lay down when you get your hair shampooed. Overall, I would highly recommend seeing Tanya to get your hair cut and or/colored.

I’ve been going to Bana for over a year. The staff is very friendly and more importantly, incredibly talented. Tanya is amazing with color… I receive compliments on my hair all the time! Quality and consistent!

I like to take care of my feet when I can. If you get a pedicure request an appointment with Sharlina. Good conversation, young, beautiful and she’s very good at what she does.

I have let my hair go naturally grey and I cut it myself. Face it, I’m a beauty cheapskate and my dad used to own a hair salon, so I think I can go it alone. But I absolutely adore the Jane Iredale talc-free powder base that comes in my very particular shade of pale-pink(most drugstore cosmetics definitely have a yellowish tinge) so I come here to restock my supply every now and then. The lady who helped me last time I was there also talked me into some facial moisturizer for my oily, acne-prone yet middle-aged skin. It has not given me any problems, and probably prevented a few. I like the stuff and didn’t mind paying more because I had a personal recommendation from this lady. Otherwise, I’d have to test one after another drugstore moisturizer for a while before I finally found one that worked for me. So when I need to restock, I’ll definitely be back for both of those products. Interesting: I noticed a flyer for group Pilates lessons — you have to form your own group, then the class is taught for a flat rate.

I visited Bana because I had a gift certificate. I decided to have a pedicure there. The place aims to look welcoming, but it’s a bizarre set-up. Instead of sitting in chairs with whirlpool baths for your feet, you are taken to a separate room and sit on a couch — one that’s full of stains — and then the person giving you the pedicure brings over a tub of warm water. She sits on the floor the entire time(which has to be uncomfortable) since they don’t have any chairs or stations for pedicures. The pedicure wasn’t particularly thorough. She didn’t give my foot a full rub to get off the dead skin and I really missed that whirlpool tub that I typically get wherever I’ve had a pedicure. But what most irritated me was that I couldn’t use any of the generous gift certificate I was given for the tip. I wanted to provide an ample tip, and my friends provided enough extra to do so. But the woman at the spa said I had to pay with my own money separately. That’s totally ridiculous when a gift certificate could be the same as cash. Also, I asked to buy a bottle of the polish she used on my toes to paint my nails and for touch-ups. They didn’t have any bottles. Instead, they poured the used polish into a tiny bottle and charged me $ 3.75. They charged top dollar, as high as in any upscale spa, for the pedicure, $ 53.00, yet I didn’t feel pampered and the environment was so mediocre, it wasn’t worth it. I would never pay this amount of money for my own for a pedicure and instead would go to a spa that actually looks like one and is more professional.

I’ve been to Bana a few times now and I feel like I can provide a fairly good review of the place. I like the fact that when I walk in they usually provide me with tea, water, coffee or hot chocolate. Any salon/spa that’s willing to put hot chocolate on the board gets a plus in my book. Facials– I’ve gotten them with Michelle before and she’s amazing. I’ve had facials at other spas, but I’ve never had one put me to sleep. Michelle had me so relaxed I actually fell asleep. Haircuts– I’ve had my hair cut by a few different people at the salon and I’ve never been disappointed. They’ve asked me how I usually style my hair and the times I have told them what I want, I get exactly that. So yes, I do like going to Bana and have never had anything but good experiences here.

They made my appointment for the wrong day and then claimed it was my fault. Like I would make an appointment on a day when I have to work. They were completely rude about everything and refused to reschedule it for the day I had originally asked for it. I’d rather waste the $ 20 I spent on the Groupon than have to deal with those people ever.

I went in with my Groupon, a birthday gift from my husband. My massage was lovely, though the areas where I really needed it — my legs and lower back — weren’t included. Apparently with the Groupon, they generally just focus on the back and arms, which were done well. My first facial in nearly a decade was great. I have mixed feelings about the manicure and pedicure. I asked for short, square nails. I got medium-length trapezoids. Seriously, my nails are angled. The pedicure was supposed to include a massage of my lower legs and feet, but the ‘massage’ was little more than the application of lotion. My fingers and toes are shiny and red, though, so I can’t complain too much. I had completely forgotten that the Groupon included a deep conditioning treatment and styling, both of which were fantastic. Courtney blew out my hair and gave me great tips on styling. On the whole, it was a nice and relaxing day; however, I don’t see any of the service providers replacing those I already have. I liked the space, though, and the hospitality.

I purchased two Groupon certificates to try Bana Salons Mini Spa day in Ann Arbor. These were for my daughter and niece as a treat, and sadly, it was a disappointment. These girls have had other facials, massages, hair treatment and manicures, and I printed out the description of the mini-spa day so they knew what to expect. It was a disappointment. First, it took three attempts to be able to schedule. Second, the scheduler wrote someone else’s number rather than mine and apparently only asked for one number; the e-mail confirmation message was perceived as junk mail by g-mail on my Mac. Both during the call I made to schedule the appointments and then a few days before, to confirm my appointment, no one told me to come fifteen minutes early to fill out paper work. When we arrived on time, the first thing we were told is that they would have to «shave time» off the procedures to make up for not arriving early. Evidently this information was in the ‘junk mail’ confirmation, or would have been conveyed to me if they had either of my correct phone numbers. My number is listed in the white pages. The paper work took about 6 minutes to complete. The entire mini-spa experience felt rushed. The relaxing, restorative massage was painful. Granted that older and more experienced patrons would have asked the therapist to be gentler, but most therapists inquire if they are going to deeply. For a thirty– minute massage, there really isn’t enough time to do deep therapeutic massage. Both girls definitely felt that their skin was smoother, but instead of feeling the«deep cleansing» that the facial touts, their skin felt greasy and not clean. The manicure was rushed because the hair stylist was in a hurry to leave. Her husband was waiting in the spa to take her home. The«deep» conditioning treatment on the hair was left on for two minutes for one girl, and five for the other. Both of these young women deserved a treat and I was so happy thinking that was what they were receiving. In hind sight, if you consider the reasonable tip that Bana suggests for their service providers and the cost of the initial groupon, each of these young women could have received a ninety minute European facial at any local salon/spa-with arm and neck massage, or an hour massage, or a deluxe mani-pedi with arm/hand and foot massage, and we could easily purchased a good in home deep conditioning treatment for their hair which would have been used as designed, with enough time to work. Any of these alternatives would have been more relaxing and a better use of our time and money. For someone who wants to get a lot of service done quickly perhaps Bana’s mini-spa package would be the route to go, but if you are looking for a relaxing«spa» experience, I suggest scheduling just one procedure to see if your experience at Bana is more relaxing than we experienced.

I’ve done two of their mini-spa afternoons and have had a great time! The staff I have had experience with have all been great. No issues whatsoever. Now I see Michelle at least once a month for eyebrow waxing. Easy to schedule appointments and everyone is courteous.

I just came back from my mini day spa with mixed emotions. It was wonderful right up until the end. The Facial was glorious and I would tell anyone to go to Gia. She is wonderful to talk to and makes you feel so comfortable. She also did my nails. I would give her 4 stars The massage was great as well. I would have liked it with a bit more pressure but it was not advertised as a deep tissue so I understand. The deep conditioning treatment was great too but the problem came when I went to the counter to give my tips. I was told I owed them $ 15 for Megan flat-ironing my hair. I told them I didn’t understand because I didn’t ask for any additional services beyond my groupon. I was never told that the flat iron would be extra. She just started flat ironing it. I guess I should have been asking all along during each service«is this included in my groupon?» or better yet, I should have carried the groupon around with me and compared what it said to what they were doing. I’m sorry, it is not my job to do quality control if I am supposed to be having a relaxing spa day. Furthermore, when I told the secretary that I was not told about the additional cost she looked at me like I was crazy but I still had to pay. Needless to say, all the work the masseuse did is gone. I will not be going back to Bana salon. Sometimes it’s the last impressions that stick.

After such a great blowout experience I came here for a follow up with Megan for a proper hair cut and did not leave disappointed. No drastic change but I didn’t want that. Just a nice, simple trim, reshaping some of the bum layers I had in from my last cut, and giving me another really lovely blowout featuring some state of the art fancy product I’d never heard of before(some sort of volumizing dust? Looks fab!). Again she explained the purpose of everything she was putting in and how it would work. Stylish AND informative, y’all! This summer I plan on chopping all my hair off and I will leave it in her capable hands. Great experience again, all around. My new salon!

I was more than impressed with the experience I had with my mini-day spa Groupon at Bana. I expected that because I was using a Groupon, I’d have some beginner esthetician, masseuse, hair stylist, etc. Fortunately, all of the employees seemed to know exactly what they were doing. I received specific product recommendations on getting rid of skin issues from the esthetician and I even bought the product the hair stylist recommended for my frizzy wavy hair. It completely suited my needs(vegan, not tested on animals) I’ve used that I’ve been 100% happy with. Everyone there was energetic and pleasant, especially Colleen the hair stylist/manicurist. Altogether, I left there extremely pleased with my experience. Even though the place is in a weird location in a professional park next to the Applebee’s, they really make sure you are relaxed and comfortable the whole time. The regular prices seem reasonable, and definitely worth it for the service and convenience. If you want to treat yourself to some pampering, I’d definitely recommend going to Bana for their mini spa day.

My first visit I had a great experience at this place. But unfortunately my second experience was not very good, My mom and I were in for massages and they told us about a special they had going. until the end of the year. My mom and I both understood the special the exact same way and even asked questions to clarify. We called back to make an appt for us and 10 friends for a spa party, and they told us we misunderstood. This was after inviting 10 friends to go with us for a girls holiday get-together so it was quite embarassing to go back to our friends. The worst part was that I talked to to owner who completely blamed it on me and never once apoligized that we were informed incorrectly. It was horrible cusomer service and certainly I had higher expectations for an upscale day spa. This is not a place that makes you feel like a special client! It is more«take it or leave it» attitude.
