Great experience! Leah shaped and waxed my brows and showed me how to fill them in using Benefit products. No pressure to buy but I ended up buying the products because she took her time showing me how to apply them. Very happy and would go back again and again!

First time I’ve done anything with my brows besides a tiny bit of gel or clipping a flyaway with cuticle scissors in about a decade, and I loved the experience! The Benefit standard is a fuller 1940s/50s retro look, but I prefer a thinner 1920s/30s look, and Leah said she was actually kind of excited about doing something off — script(even while complimenting my apparently ideal brows for the Benefit Brow standard). I showed up a little early(I don’t see well enough to drive, and the local bus is crap, so I kind of have to plan to be early), and when I got to the brow bar she asked if I was her appointment, and said it wad totally fine that I wad early. I had to sign a form about medical info that could be completed by the procedure and she got to work. She was very helpful, and even complimented my choice of brow cosmetic(even though it was Nyx, not Benefit), and totally approved of the reason I wanted to get my eyebrows waxed(had a stupid bad week, wanted to treat myself). When another employee was helping another customer with eyelash adhesive, and I butted in to make sure that she asked the customer about latex allergy, because standard lash adhesive is basically liquid latex(latex free lash glue does exist), and I said that latex is one of my allergies, Leah even made sure to ask if I had a nut allergy, because the after-wax serum had a nut oil. Great experience and I just love my new eyebrows! Definitely will find a way to go back in about six weeks.

I walked into Ulta last year not intending on getting anything but my intended purchase of some Urban Decay makeup. I met Leah, the Benefit Brow specialist, while shopping and we hit it off right away. I asked her if she could help me with my hot mess Sasquatch eyebrows. I was not blessed with great eyebrows, so she got to work. She mapped them out with a dark brown eye shadow or whatever product they use, and slowly started to shape them. I appreciated the trimming of my eyebrows as well because they grew long enough to practically wrap around into a hipster mustache. The wax they use isn’t hot. If you aren’t used to getting your eyebrows waxed, the skin may get a little pink, but you’re getting hair ripped out of your skin, so that’s bound to happen. I have sensitive skin so I love that Leah uses a Benefit concealer to help with this so I can go on my merry way. In fact, I bought the same concealer to use at home, I loved it that much. I used to get this done every time I went to my hairdresser, but I can’t wait every 8 weeks. I love having the option and ease of going to Ulta every 3 weeks.

The absolute WORST On Thursday, Nov. 21st, 2013, I decided to stop into Ulta for what would turn out to be my first and last time. A former colleague of mine had went to work for Ulta and I remembered her telling me all about how they had a «brow bar» inside so I stopped in to have my eyebrows waxed on my lunch break. The moment I stepped in the door I was greeted by a red-head woman behind one of the registers. I told her what I was there for and she then informed me that she was in charge of the«brow bar» in what I felt like was a snooty way — not a how-can-I-help-you kind of way you would expect. LEAH lead me to the brow bar, where I waited for at least ten minutes before she brought me two forms to fill out. I waited another five for her to finally get started — mind you there were only a handful of customers in the store at the time, which she also acknowledged later during our conversation. From the time she started prepping me(cleaning the area, etc.) I felt like she was kind of rough — almost like she didn’t want to touch me or something. Anyway, I told her all I needed was to have my brows waxed/arched, but she explained to me the mapping process — where they fill in the brow before they even do anything, and how they do things a little differently there at the brow bar. So here I am thinking I’m getting a little more attention, like I’m being pampered, but then she started cutting them with scissors and all this extra stuff that was totally unnecessary — considering my brows weren’t even that thick to begin with. Oh, and let’s not forget the fact that she cut off ¼ of my right eyebrow and instead of apologizing or making me aware of it she covered it up with concealer and brow powder as if I would never find out! While the shape of my brow was nice, people kept pointing out that my right eyebrow looked A LOT darker and that it came a little farther over than it should have. So I wiped the makeup off when I got home and what I saw was amateur and just downright insulting! Not to mention she burned me under my left eyebrow, she never offered me anything for the burn. Not even so much of a tester to cover up HER mistake! There is no reason why I left there paying full price, let alone anything at all! I rarely write complaints but this is unacceptable on so many levels. You need to be prepared when things like this happens. And what I REALLY don’t appreciate is how she played it off like it was no big deal and felt the need to remind me that«I signed the waver saying I wasn’t using anything with retinol on my skin, etc»(which I am not). And this is the person who is supposed to be in charge of your brow bar? AREYOUSERIOUS? When I called, I spoke to one of the store managers named Dawn, who insisted it was a «non-burning wax,» and made me feel as though the outcome was somehow MY fault. Once we agreed upon a refund, I had to drive all the way back to Arborland to get my money back. Her and one of the other managers, assured me Leah would be «coached to,» but I’m sorry, to me, that is not good enough. Her mistake cost me time and money — two things I was trying to save by coming to here. I went in looking for a confidence boost and walked out feeling foolish and embarrassed. When I left my brows were filled in super thick and boxy — something I specifically stated I didn’t like nor did I want done. Now I HAVE to do it just to feel comfortable in public! The next day I had to drive to Briarwood before work. In the end had to go to Sephora, spend an extra thirty dollars for brow powder and an applicator brush, making my $ 20 wax job come out to over $ 50! And to make matters worse, it’s one week before the holiday season! Needless to say, the ONLY thing I’ll be recommending about ULTA to my friends is that they DON’T go there! P. S. It’s now Sunday and I have YET to receive my refund.. .
