I’ve had better luck at the Brighton location, but it’s ultimately a bit of luck of the draw. The advantage to the Ann Arbor location is that they are really good at photographing new inventory and posting it to their Facebook page. Handy if you are trying to find something specific. My impression is that they have more furniture than building materials, but it varies. For small and/or flexible projects, it is definitely worth checking at ReStore before you head to Lowe’s or Home Depot.

I donated some items with the ReStore and spoke with the most charming gentleman on the phone, who easily scheduled a pickup at my home. The call was easy and they picked up my donations in less than a week. Love the store and love the staff!!!

This is an ok store in theory, but the concept is much better than the execution. I get that items are donated, and proceeds go to charity, and they do get great stuff once in a while, but a lot of what is for sale is stuff nobody wants. Today, for instance, there were two newish stainless steel refrigerators that were priced low, but both had«sold» tags on them. Pretty much everything else was garbage. Unless you were looking for an out-of-date ceiling fan, or an avocado green toilet with no seat. But, you can’t look a gift horse in the mouth, right? Well… sometimes you just have to. If you are looking for something in particular, like a set of upper cabinets, for instance, you’re going to have to put in a lot of time going in to the store and checking. I didn’t buy anything, so I can’t comment on the level of service. Probably 75% of the items didn’t have prices on them, and I never saw anyone working there to ask. That was kind of frustrating.

Now this is what I call Habitat Restore! Seriously, they completely blow the Detroit store out of the water. Granted I only been to one of them but that’s the one that’s almost? double the size of the one in AA and this one just utilizes their space SOMUCHBETTER! And the people are much friendlier here too. Prices are also crazy decent and they have great deals for larger items that have been in the store for longer than a month, as well as Wednesday specials. So if you’re gonna pick a day to go, go on a Wednesday. Seriously, whatever you’re doing, unless you’re looking for clothes, be it books, lighting fixtures, furniture, toilets, nails, hammers, paint, wood stain, bathroom tiles, carpets… whatever you need! Did I mention the great prices?

How have I lived in Ann Arbor for years and never knew this was here! I stopped by there today with my mom and was amazing at how cool it is! So here’s the deal, when a builder/contractor/whoever gets done with a job and has leftovers they donate them here and Habitat resells them to the public and uses the profit for future projects. So prepare to feel good about your purchases cause you are actually helping a charity! Inside you can find everything from hardwood flooring, to cabinets, to front doors. Literally anything you could need for a home or business. And everything is so cheap! Tons of sinks for $ 30 and toilets for about the same. Extra tile great for a bathroom job or special backslash in your kitchen. I was amazed! You could seriously go crazy in here. Now because they are leftovers you might find one of something or miss matched this or that but if you are willing to look through some things there are truly some gems. Also they have a TON of paint. White paint by gallon, wood stain, everything you could think of. I am never buying that stuff at wholesale again. Although I wanted to buy a ton more, today I purchased a beautiful white dinning room table and 4 chairs in GREAT condition for $ 100 and a wood shutter for an art project for $ 2! You can’t beat that. This place is my new obsession and will be a good place to check monthly as they are surely getting new stuff in all the time.
