We decided to give it a whirl, and weren’t disappointed. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it is good food. They have unique options for their burgers. My husband and I both ordered the Garbage Burger. Sounds nutty, right? It was actually pretty delicious. Avocado, red onions, sautéed onions, 3 types of cheese, tomatoes, marinara sauce. It was surprisingly delicious. So tall, I almost couldn’t bite it. The meat lacked seasoning, but it didn’t really matter with all the other stuff on the border. The patty looked to be hand formed, and it was of decent thickness. For an appetizer we ordered the pretzel bread. They were really, really good. The nacho cheese that comes with it is ok. It’s kind of a spicy queso. The prices are cheap, $ 10 for a burger and endless fries. The only thing that was off was that our waitress complained about being tired, didn’t bring us silverware, and never stopped to check on us or refill our drinks. We’ll definitely try the location closer to our home, I’m pretty confident the dining experience will be better with another server. The menu is actually pretty diverse. They have a lot of different types of dishes for the different meats/diets. Will eat at the chain again, but a different restaurant closer to us.

Well I tried this place for the first time and I was bad. The server Haleigh forgot our water and then forgot our soup and finally brought the water after asking if we needed some. The meal came over and it must have been the manager Bc she got the soup and fixed the bill. My pasta was super over cooked and mushy. Not impressed with the food. The server never came over once to check on us and clear out plates. I’m surprised the manager didn’t come over either to check ur meals. Not impressed at all with his restaurant

We come here about one Wednesday a month. The free cookies are an awesome treat every once and while and every single time we either have bad food or a bad waiter. This time it was the waiter. Didn’t see him once between ordering and getting our food and when we finished our entrees, he plopped two cookie bags in front of us. Didn’t ask if we wanted dessert, if which cookies we wanted, or if we wanted to eat the cookies there. It was no where near closing and the place was no where near full. We’ve never not been asked which cookie flavor we wanted or if we want them for here or to go. Bummed we came here for cookies and we got flavors we didn’t want. I realize I’m complaining about the free cookies, but it’s what I look forward to and the reason we choose to go here.

Amazing food and fast! Mostly excellent service, a couple times felt rushed! I travel to town for appointments! Last waitress was amazing and made sure we had all of the things we needed for our leftovers at the hotel! We’ve never had a disappointed meal! Our favorite go to place!

My dad and I came in around 9:30/9:45, which was probably the best time to go since there weren’t many people and the environment was very peaceful and relaxing. We ordered the guacamole and chips for an appetizer and it was DELICIOUS. The guac was super smooth had just the right proportions of tomatoes, peppers, onions, etc to the avocado. I can’t speak for my dad but I got the«erma-sized» Tuscan grilled chicken with broccoli and asparagus. The portion size was perfect and the food was fantastic. Highly highly recommend and will be back whenever I’m in the area. Also our server’s name is Jeff, he was fabulous, very attentive –but not overzealous– and kind. Deserved a higher tip(Jeff if you read this I apologize for my dad’s tipping!).

My husband and I have eaten at this location several times. The atmosphere is great, and the sundae bathtub is oh-so-fun! The staff is friendly, and we’ve never had a server who was impolite. In terms of the food, both the portion size and the quality of the dishes are consistently good for the price(the pulled pork sandwich is delicious). The one downside to this location that I’ve experienced is that the lunch service tends to be noticeably slower than the dinner service, so this might not be the best place to stop if you’re in a time crunch on your lunch hour.

I came her for my hour lunch and definitely regret it. It’s 12:46, I got here at 12:01 and I don’t have my soup as of 12:46pm. Our waiter(at the bar) has probably said less than 10 words to us the entire time we’ve been here. We just asked him for the bill hoping to hurry things up because we need to get back to work. He didn’t say a word when we asked, he turned around, grabbed our bill, set it on the bar and walked away without saying a word. We just got our bill and meals and I still don’t have my soup. It’s 12:59pm. When I asked about my soup he responded«You still want it?». Our bill shows that the food wasn’t even put in until 12:30pm, we ordered just after noon. It now 1:05pm and I just got my soup, in a to go container. We both requested more bottomless fries and never received them. As we were getting our coats on he told us our cookie would be out in a few. We left without our cookies or our orders of fries. Needless to say I would never go back to this location of recommend it to anyone else. There are plenty of better options in the area.

The fish sandwich is delicious! The servers are very good, and there are authentic pinball machines in addition to some Michigan football artifacts. I love the drinks — have since I was a kid! I also enjoy the atmosphere. It has not changed since I was a kid.

I guess it doesn’t matter if it’s a weekday or weekend they are always busy! We were sat in the bar area which is fine but we had to flag the bartender down a couple times since she was slammed with patrons at the bar as well. Food was fine. I enjoy their tortilla soup and salad but this time around they forgot the grilled chicken! It was a simple fix and the manager did come over to us and apologized and gave us a coupon for free cookies the next time around. That wasn’t necessary but they were just trying to make it right.

Typical Max and Erma’s food. Service was excellent however. My friend and I are both a bit of a martini snob. We were both impressed with the quality of the dirty martini here. My friend had the fish and chips and he enjoyed it. I had the tortilla soup and the southwest egg roll appetizers. The soup was a bit on the salty side but still good. The egg roll appetizers seemed like they were frozen and just thrown in a deep fryer. Overall mediocre food but the service was top notch.

In town for training and walking over from the mall a colleague and myself were looking forward to resting and relaxing. Not many choices around our hotel and we weren’t in the mood to go downtown for some grub. Needless to say we are now regretting that decision. The service was terrible. While the waitress was sweet enough, she had no idea what she was doing and expediters should have been helping here. Got told there was no sweet tea after ordering some, had to wait five minutes to get silverware after salad arrived. No breadstick because they were still in oven. Burgers showed up without the condiments we had requested and never arrived until almost done with a cold burger. The breadstick arrived after dinner was done and my complimentary cookies arrived. It took at least 5 – 10 minutes for any requests to be fulfilled including getting the check and then getting the change. Won’t be visiting there again when I’m in town. Too bad because it is somewhat close to our hotel.

Today at Max and Erma’s, my girlfriend and I felt like we were in an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. The waitstaff were absolutely horrible and unprofessional. Standing around in a circle talking while other tables waited on checks, needed to be bussed, or needed food or drinks. The food was barely mediocre, needing lots of salt to add any flavor. The host and hostess were dancing and texting all night long, or even sitting outside talking on their phones while customers curiously waited to be seated. I would dare say this location won’t be open for more than another 6 months at this rate.

We came here for lunch one day and I was very surprised!!! I’d never seen a Max & Erma’s before, but there seems to be plenty around Michigan! We even came back for free cookie Wednesdays! You get two free cookies of your choice when you buy an entrée! The first time we were there was slightly better than the second. The first time, our waitress was amazing. She was very friendly, fast, always checking up on us, and was just all around professional and nice. I got one of their pick two lunch combos, the half Chicken Salad on Cibatta Bread with a French Onion Soup! They were both excellent! The soup was very oniony and had a really delicious bread with lots of cheese on top! The chicken salad was amazing as well. Was very fresh and refreshing tasting. There were pieces of celery and, I think, cucumber mixed in! Was very good! I also order one chocolate chip cookie and it came out gooey and really warm! It was delicious! The second time we went there for lunch, on the cookie Wednesday, I ordered the same thing as the first time(That’s how much I enjoyed it!!). Our waiter was very nice and friendly again! The only difference was that when we got our two free cookies they were kind of hard, but I guess it should of been expected. I’m sure they had to make a bunch of cookies in advance for the day, but after our first gooey, melty, chocolatey mess of a delicious cookie on the first visit, it was a bit of a let down. I really enjoyed this place, and I’m sure if we ever visit another one, I’d love that as well! The food is excellent and fairly priced! I’ll have to try something else next time we go! Highly recommend!

There’s nothing particularly exciting about this Max and Erma’s. It’s been around for awhile and it’s a steady, reliable chain experience. Service has been average on both visits. You wish they’d be more helpful but they don’t do anything wrong except for being a bit indifferent. Your food is out fairly quickly. Since they were a chain I wish they offered more for vegetarians. The black bean burger is ok and they have a black bean wrap(sense a black bean trend??). Most everyone but vegetarians will have great selection but it has more of a fast food and fun chain vibe rather than any type of food that would stand out. Prices are good and it’s pretty popular with people I know. If you’re in the area, check it out.

Awful. We swore this place off last year because of how dirty it is. Look at the carpet and corners. Yikes. The service was also bad. We went back today because we had been given a gift card. We were there soon after it opened and it was dirty. There was also a terrible smell near the prep station between the booths. Even our child noticed the stench. The waitress was not terrible– far from great– but she looked like she hadn’t showered in quite some time. The food is actually ok. But it’s too pricey for what you get, especially since you feel like you’re in a dingy basement.

We have been to other Max and Erma’s in metro Detroit and have had great experiences, but this one was not anywhere near those. The service was extremely slow and we barely saw our server, even for water refills. He forgot several parts of our order. I had to literally get up and go find someone at one point to get my kids their drinks he had forgotten. The food wasn’t nearly as good as it is at other Max and Erma’s. The burger was under done and the bun was almost burnt. I had like 10 fries with my burger. Even the cookies weren’t that great. Major bummer. However, the others in my party really enjoyed their meals. I’ll be back to this chain, but not to this particular location.

This particular M&E needs to upgrade the interior. In addition, the last two times I have dined here, I have had a problem with my bill. The first time, the waitress gave us someone else’s bill. When I pointed this out to her, she came back with yet another person’s bill! Last week, my son and I dined here and I ordered a glass of wine… I was charged for three glasses of wine! When the waitress corrected the bill, she did not give me the«Happy Hour» price. I did finally talk with a manager and received two $ 5 gift cards. Why do I keep returning? Because it is close to Briarwood Mall and I love the tortilla soup and the Third Street salad!

This is the first place the made me wish I could give a half star rating, because I’d probably put it at 3.5 stars for now. Really great things: The texture of the burger patties The salads(especially the Pecan Chicken) The idea of an ice cream bar Very attentive management A pretty restaurant, with the nice spotlights that make food and people look warm and appealing. Not so great things: Once, I had the worst margarita ever here(although I do like their sangria ok) The service has a bit of the creepy scripted chain restaurant style to it. It’s good, but not quite good enough to pick over a lot of my other Ann Arbor favorites. If I had friends with kids, I’d probably bring them here.

Marie and I hit up this Max & Erma’s last week after we found out that Olive Garden(our first choice, located next door) had a 45 minute wait. She’d never been to a Max & Erma’s before and was pleasantly surprised that they offered a decent veggie burger. I got some equally yummy delicious meat thingy with a garden salad on the side. Love their ranch dressing! Oddly, when I asked for a salad, Marie said she also wanted one so they added a side salad to our order. Then, when her veggie burger came it was served with a greens and roasted veggies salad. You think the server would have mentioned that she was already getting a salad when she ordered one on the side? Weird. But they did bring her a free side of the fries she had thought she was getting with her meal. For desert we had the sundaes — they give you a dish of ice cream and you can choose whatever toppings you want(additional dishes of ice cream are free). It’s 2.99 each, so a great deal. I’ve been here twice and both times the bathrooms were pretty bad. Parking is easy — there’s a huge lot.

Yes, dear. Yes dear, Yes dear. I haven’t been married a long time for nothing. These are the two best words in the dictionary. You find them under the word, relationship. OK, now the explanation. With all the great reviews from Unilocalers for great places to dine, we(not me) decided to go to this chain. We stopped by to visit our daughter fror the holiday and just before school starts again. There weren’t any complaints. The food I had, Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, wasn’t bad — 3 stars. The service was great. Drinks were constantly filled at all times — 4 Stars. The atmosphere wasn’t bad. If I need explain the décor check other reviews. This was an OK meal, but the company was awesome(also the reason I have been married so long).
