One of the services provided by the copy store part of OfficeMax is to cut the spine off a paperback book and add a spiral binding. This makes it easier to lay the book flat. I found this useful when I was making an appliqué quilt. I had to trace and photocopy templates out of a large paperback book, and the only way to get all the way to the gutter was to be able to spread the pages out completely. So the spiral binding was definitely the way to go. It only took one hour and cost like $ 3 at the most. Recently, I realized that my enjoyment of one of my favorite cookbooks was hampered by the inability to get it to lie flat and hold still as I prepared a recipe. I finally remembered that OfficeMax could change that for me. This time, the guy acted like it was kind of a big deal. There were two people in the store, and they didn’t look busy to me, but how was I to know if maybe they were producing a huge print job? So I took this guy’s word for it that it was not possible to transform my book while I shopped. I told him to take down my cell phone number and call me if he had it ready. I would be nearby. What I really wanted to get through to him was that I COULDJUSTCOMEBACKANOTHERDAY. Really, I wasn’t in a big hurry. I got the call the next day and didn’t get back there until Monday morning. So I was happy to have my recipe book back, and be able to use it more easily.

Typical Office supply store. This store is closest to my house, so I’ll tend to go here more often. Whenever I go, the place seems empty, not lot of customers in the store. Any office supplies you need, give this place a try. If you don’t see what you need, just ask the associates, they are friendly and service is good.
