I typically go to New Balance in Farmington Hills, but NB stopped making my particular shoe and they didn’t have anything similar in stock. I hummed and hawed about where to go to by my next pair, had completely procrastinated and by the time I went to Running Fit, was in DESPERATE need of new shoes. I’m not a runner, but I walk a lot and have issues with my feet that have required multiple surgeries and orthotics. I’m always worried when I try new shoe stores because I just never know what I’m going to get. Will they just try to upsell me? Will they really know what I need? I can’t afford to drop $ 160 on a pair of shoes to only have aching miserable feet to show for it. When I first walked in, I was a bit worried. There are 4 benches where people can try on shoes and all 4 were occupied with people and a sea of shoes around them. I really wasn’t up for a 30 minute wait, but luckily it did not take that long. One of the employees, Megan, acknowledged me and said she would be with me shortly. Thankfully it wasn’t too long before her other customers finished up and cashed out. Megan took the time to ask me what kind of exercise I would be doing with the shoes, if I required any particular features, and had me balance on each foot as well as walk. She recommended some shoes and after trying on a few pair I found one that I liked. The store also carries the orthotic that I wear so I was able to replace my very worn set. I never felt like she was trying to push the most expensive shoe. In fact, I heard her talking with the earlier customer saying things such as «let me see if I can find something like that which is on sale.» They have a loyalty program that«banks» 10% of your purchases. After you accumulate $ 25 worth, you can use that toward your next purchase. The shopping center in which the store resides has pretty terrible parking. Maybe it was the time of day I came, but I had to park at the furthest corner opposite the store. That was probably the most annoying thing about my visit, particularly because I was carrying a sleeping child. Ugh. Overall, I had a pleasant experience and will return.

I came here for the grand opening of Arbor Hills Crossing and decided to stop here on my way out. The store was still finishing construction, but had plenty of shoes to choose from. The staff listened to my needs and brought out a few great options to choose from. They were personable and knowledgeable. I think they will have a great nitch in this new shopping center.
