Generally when I come here I always get exceptional service and the guys that work there are always very kind. As normal, I have called in the past asking about a specific type of pizza, and if it’s not available the workers generally always make it and add it to the turn display. They say that it’s never a problem due to how much turn around they get. Pizza never goes«old» there. However, recently a woman answered the phone and was completely rude to me and also HUNG up the phone on me when I asked her about this. I’ve never experienced this type of behavior. She says she works there every day and that what I asked for never happens but I have never seen a woman working at this location. She needs to learn customer etiquette! Extremely rude! I’ve been coming to this place for 4 years and this is first time I’ve ever had such an experience!

South U pizza is better than all the other pizza joints on Michigan’s campus(save for Mani Osteria, if you consider that a pizza joint). Yes, I include Pizza House in that distinction. It’s reasonably cheap, the employees there are great, the owner is the man, and their pizza(albeit a little greasy) is really, really good. Most people only go there after bars but I can’t help myself and go there for all meals of the day. Also, spend the extra 50 cents and go to South U over Back Room. It is twice as good for hardly a higher price.

It’s good pizza. Not sure if places like this need a rating since 9 times out of 10 on any given weekend night the entire student body is waiting in line for some post-bars pizza. Can buy pizza by the slice so also really convenient when you have a craving but don’t want the commitment.

Much better than other A2 pizza places. Their prices are perfect and service friendly. I think their dining room could use a little money to clean, but better than other pizza joints.

First in-town delivery order– let’s see whatchu got, A2. Just made the cut for a delivery and guys were friendly enough to take a late order. (Good thing cause my nouveau fridge was empty and my hunger, on some other level) Ordered a meat lover and some wings. The pie was decent(and huge! Forgot Canadian portions don’t apply here)… … but the wings were awful. Both BBQ and buffalo. The dips were also not dips. I asked for blue cheese dip and got dressing. Umm– what? All this meh-ness for $ 40 odd bucks. Sigh. I recommend– ordering for pick up cause… Extra tip– Delivery took 45+ mins(which I can only assume was because I was the last order of the day)

This place puts back door pizza to shame. It always has interesting pizza. My favorites are the BBQ chicken and the white pizza. The meat lovers is also very good. You can get two specialty slices and a can of soda for five bucks. It’s a crush for value and the quality is great. No skimping on cheese or toppings with a soft crust that’s not too thick. If you check in on Unilocal, you can get a whole pizza for $ 10. The large variety of canned sodas is also pretty cool.

For a decade I was a baackroom pizza man– cheap, greasy and fast– the same way I like my women. Then a few years back I paid an extra 50 cents a slice for South U and my god was it worth it. They have more specialty pizzas available for slices so sometimes it can be hit or miss, but almost everything is good. Lots of people love the buffalo chicken but this was the first place I ever had BBQ chicken pizza and it is still my favorite. My second favorite is probably the white pizza. Those 2 hands down crush all other pizza places in the area(NYPD, Pizza house etc). There is also a Unilocal check in deal to get an XL pizza for 10 dollars which is a huge amount of food for the money. One bit of advice– From like 130AM –2:30 its almost impossible to get in/get a slice as the barbarian hoards of drunken frat boys just mob this place so you should definately order ahead.

An Ann Arbor must. The pizza is realllly good. Try the buffalo chicken. it’s their specialty. Staff are nice and chill. If it is cold or not nice outside, you can go next door to the Mediterranean restaurant and sit inside there because they are owned by the same person.

That slice of pepperoni pizza at 2am on Friday night was just fine if I do say so myself. South U may not have the best pizza you’ve ever had, but it is good. The reasonable prices and late hours make it even better.

The pizza isn’t the best you’ll ever have, but it’s exceptional for the amount you pay. The slices are nice and big and service is always friendly. I haven’t tried their specialty pizzas but I’m sure they’re just as good as getting a slice of plain cheese. Plus, they’re open late to satisfy your late night cravings!

I don’t think there’s ever been a time where there were people in here that were sober other than me and the staff. It’s a great post-party spot, but it’s pretty good sober too. I’ve tried buffalo chicken(too spicy, but that’s my own fault), pepperoni(good), and the one with tomatoes and breaded chicken(also good). The most AMAZING pizza here, though, is the White pizza. I think they put ricotta on it. Oh man. I can go on and on about it. Just get it. It’s beautiful. Oh and this place is surprisingly HELLA cheap for the quality.

This is BYFARANDAWAY the best pizza I’ve ever had. I dunno what they do to it, but it’s seriously heaven on a slice. And it’s cheap to! I am it’s biggest fan. I’ve tried all the different types, the buffalo chicken is to die for and is probably my favorite… second place probably goes to their white cheese pizza. It’s always warm, it’s always gooey. What more can you ask for? And you can custom make your own, pick up to go… hell you can get a few slices and go next door to the hookah bar, sit on the balcony and eat your pizza with a view of beautiful South U. I’d recommend it to anyone. Damn, now I’m hungry!

So apparently I’m one of the few that go here when I’m haven’t been drinking in the slightest. Very yummy! Got a hawaiian and a bbq pizza slice. $ 6. Nice people. Fast. Definitely going here again.

Probably the worst pizza in town. The worst tasting and not even the cheapest pizza in town. I stopped by for the first time on my way from the airport because I just needed a pick-me-up after coming home. The taste hurt my mouth and it settled in my stomach like a game of The Oregon Trail.

Never knew that this place serve pizza slices. Came here after doing some drinking and I gotta say that they have the best pizza slices on south university(better than back room pizza) and probably second fiddle to nypd in the slices category(although it’s close, nypd has more of a selection). I had the pepperoni slice and the meat slice and both were excellent and about $ 3 a piece. They serve about 5 – 6 types and are open late. Great service and really good pizza equal me coming back.

This is the best pizza in Ann Arbor. I am from Chicago and I know pizza pretty well. South U pizza uses quality ingredients and it shows. The dough is crispy on the outside and has a nice amount of gluten leading to a chewy inside. The sauce is great and they always use the perfect amount(not too dry and not too wet). Regarding the cheese, it is fresh and delicious! I love stopping here for a delicious hot lunch. My favorite pizza here is the buffalo chicken! They also make a great veggie pizza, white pizza, and barbecue chicken pizza. The classics(pepperoni, cheese, etc.) are wonderful too! To the people that say it is just a «drunk food place» just don’t know food. South U is incredible and you can’t beat the value! You can get a huge slice of pizza for cheap. If you are getting pizza-by-the-slice, make sure to get a slice of the freshest pie out of the oven. I have been going to South U since it opened and whenever I am on campus, I try to go there. Great job guys!

You have to appreciate South U for what it is — the place you stumble into on your way home from Rick’s or whatever other late-night establishment you just spent your night getting sweaty at. Now, my only visits have been around 2AM and I can’t say I’ve had the clearest head. But I can say I REALLY enjoyed this pizza in those moments. Big, hot slices. Substantial buffalo chicken on the buffalo chicken. Chewy crust. They even put Parmesan and red pepper flakes out for you, AND they make the late-night line a nice in-and-out assembly-style system. Late-night drunken deliciousness and the right price.

This place is so good that is legitimately sinful to go to back room pizza ever. Don’t you even dare. The greasy goodness that is their pizza here is absolute perfection and can be bought by the slice for a leisurely lunch or for your blackout city adventures on South U. If you’re really lucky, some wayward drunken soul may even buy you your very own slice.
