Stevens Worldwide Van Lines

I recently made a major cross-​country move from LA to Northern New England. I thoroughly researched all the major movers as well as their local agents in Southern California. Stevens came in with one of the lower estimates, and my research showed them and the local agent to be among the best rated, both by consumers and the US DOT.
My experience was excellent. A crew came the day before the move to pack up (I had packed books and papers but left the rest for them), and they were professional and careful. The moving crew was also very good. Everyone was on time at the load-​in end, and the truck arrived within the promised window at the destination (they give you a seven-​day window).
Everything arrived in undamaged condition and nothing was missing. The only glitch was that a set of four table legs for one of my desks was left on the truck, wrapped in furniture pads. I didn’t discover it for over a week, but when I called Stevens, they called me back within 24 hours. The driver found the item and as soon as he got back to the warehouse, they FedEx’d them to me, no charge. The woman I worked with at Stevens (Tricia) was proactive in calling me a number of times letting me know the status, when it would ship, gave me the tracking number, etc.
The final bill came in under the estimate and there was no funny business of extra charges. I’d heard many horror stories around long-​distance moves but this was one of the smoothest I could have imagined. Thanks guys.

Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. And it’s absolutely ridiculous that the u.s. Navy used them! After The Other Moving Company, inc. came at 9 am, the correct time, and quickly and efficiently packed our house… they said they were waiting for the drivers and the van. Who was the driver and van? THESE PPL. After calling at 10:30 a.m., the driver said he’d be an hour (he was in a city 30 minutes away) and he was on his way.
The Other Moving Company finished packing at 1 p.m. and left a member of their crew to help pack everything up. Still no driver. They called the driver of the Stevens Van lines before they left. He told the packers he’d be there in 20 minutes. So they left. The member left sat outside.
Twenty minutes pass by, no driver.
Called the moving coordinator and she said he was on his way.
An hour passes. It’s now three. We call again. The coordinator days she’ll contact him and call back.
We don’t hear back.
At 4:30 p.m. the van finally shows. 6 hours later.
The driver tells us he doesn’t have to explain himself. Can’t remember what his name was, (De-​something) but his partner was named Shorty. No joke.
It takes them hours to pack things up into the van. Mostly because De-​something was standing around doing paperwork half the time while Shorty and the Other guy were moving.
They finish at nine. After telling us that they can’t take candles, foodstuffs, glass, oils, liquids, body wash, face wash, expensive stuff, jewelry, and so forth… we ended up taking half our house in our SUV.
This was Tuesday.
We didn’t hear a thing from them for about a week. On Monday we get a call that our stuff was in temporary storage per military instruction. We tell the storage to deliver the next day.
A new moving company comes banging on our door. Turns out, Stevens didn’t give them our phone numbers. And the new movers, Jason and Sons, told us that the boxes they retrieved were so badly damaged they packed the damaged boxes into new ones.
Thank God the Other Moving Co. packed our stuff so well. We haven’t finished unpacking yet, but only found one thing broken so far. And that box? It was packed by the Stevens company.
You all need to figure out who you are hiring, Stevens. Because it seems like you’re hiring deadbeats off the street.
Disgraceful.
Don’t even think about hiring these uncommunicative, idiotic, tardy for the party bums for your move!

Oh my word if I could just tell you if I could give a zero or a minus 1 star I would! DO NOT USE THEM! I still am dealing with a move from Sawyer, MI to Missouri City, TX! Still waiting for someone to call me in regards to my claim. Still have a laptop & case «missing» but yet the driver says he «mailed it» to me. But funny thing… he is no where to be found now! 2 drivers, both nice, the 2^nd driver was GREAT but wow, this company… I will NEVER USE THEM AGAIN to move!
