These guys make the best pinto beans in town, hands down! They are so soft and tender, something special with the cilantro and onion. Awesome pork tamales and chicken tacos too. Very authentic Mexican. They make their own hot sauce(red sauce), which is amazing, it’s kept in the little beverage fridge under the TV

Oh man, I am such a huge fan of this place! SO happy to have found awesome tacos now that I’m moving to Ann Arbor! We’re talking legit tacos, with doubled-up soft corn tortillas and only onions and cilantro as toppings. Yet they still offer ground beef, which is nice because I’m a huge fan despite its non-authenticity. Their rice is delicious, and I especially liked the refried beans, which weren’t much and actually still retained their bean shape! It’s even inside a tiny Mexican grocery store and carries baked goods from Mexicantown! I have zero criticisms regarding Taco King. Pretty much perfect.

After living in a small and not-very-exciting town for 8 years, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate Taco King being just down the road. I love Mexican food, and tried them all– it’s at the top of the list. They are BUSY — so service might be slow. I like a busy place– it’s always a good sign. And– guess what?! Not every culture is in such a damn hurry. When in Rome Lamb tacos are the best — it’s been a little dry once and heaven the other three, so I’ll take it. They actually ran out of lamb this last time so I was forced to order steak and chicken and that was pretty darn good, too. Guacamole is good and cheap for a good amount. We called ahead and the phone just rang and rang so we gave up and as I was mentally blasting such a bad business move, they called us BACK and asked us if they could help us. Redeemed I think taco King will be in my life for a long long time

It pains me to write this review. I actually love all the food, especially the tortas and the churros. However, I ordered delivery last night and they forgot my fries. Okay, that’s a bummer but not the worst thing to happen. I was pretty content until I was eating my torta and there was a fingernail in my food. Dead serious. Unfortunately I didn’t discover it until it was in my mouth. I’m not sure how that would have even happened but there you go. I would love to order from here again but unfortunately I don’t think I can since a fingernail free food guarantee is usually at the top of my list.

I mean, it’s Mexican food in Michigan, but as far as that goes, it’s pretty darn good. The service can take a while, so you should call ahead to order. Chorizo=excellent, and we usually get an order of guacamole to go as well. A fun place to have in town.

Oh, Taco King. My once passionate love. I used to pick up dinner here multiple times a week. There used to be a really sweet, friendly guy who worked the counter. He, however, has since left for brighter horizons, and in his place are the surliest, unhappiest counter workers ever. I used to leave jar tips every time I visited, to no avail, because these are the crankiest men in the world we’re talking about here, and that kind of shittiness cannot simply be bribed away. Last time, after the usual surliness, he sold me expired chorizo one entire month out of date(from the grocery section, my fault for not looking at the date of the food they had for sale I guess!). They either changed the recipe or sell the same month-long expired chorizo in their counter food, because even the restaurant tacos started tasting spoiled and wrong. After three or four serious and increasingly expensive disappointments, this former enthusiastic regular will not be going back. Also, they’ve got 3 different websites to order that don’t even contain the same menu items, which is just damn annoying.

My stomach is growling just thinking about this place. I really miss going here! They season their ground beef to perfection. It’s so yummy. I usually get the taco with ground beef, one with pork, and one fish. They are so good. And the salsa is made in house and its awesome too! My hubby usually gets the San Diego Burrito. It has fries in it. And they can deep fry it for you. It’s amazing.

Very very good food! I am a big fan of the corn shell tacos, any flavor. Very authentic! You will not be disappointed.

Taco King is royally delicious and deserves some recognition. It’s tucked away into the same plaza as Hello Faz and serves as a latin grocery store as well. The place has no frills, but doesn’t skimp on flavor or quantity. They have an all vegetarian section of the menu, which makes life easier — and yes they have vegetarian beans and rice. The tostadas and smothered burrito are my favorite things on the menu, but their roasted veggie tacos are really good too. I’ll be back at Taco King for sure. While they have eat in seating, I prefer take out from here. The staff is friendly and they have a good selection of beverages in the refrigerators too.

Ordered delivery from this place last night. I asked for a chipotle chicken taco, and they gave me regular chicken for whatever reason… it was pretty flavorless, just a bunch of plain chicken thrown in with some greens. no sauce. I also got guacamole, which was THE most flavorless guacamole i have ever had. It tasted like plain, mushy paste… wouldnt even be able to tell it was guacamole if i had my eyes closed. I lived in California my entire life and moved here two and ½ years ago, I must say that the quality of mexican food here is absolutely terrible compared to California. I can’t seem to find a single place that can make it authentically and with loads of flavor. Disappointing.

This place has changed dramatically. Gone are the friendly owners and staff; along with the excellent tacos. Seem to have been replaced by some grumpy owners that barely say a word to any of the customers and the food is not even close to what it was. Grocery selection is still strong.

The folks here are friendly but often take a *long* time to bring the food out. I’ve also had the rare odd tasting burrito, which I was ok shrugging off until I saw they failed a heath inspection recently. Not going back.

I thought moving away from my San Diego, CA home meant I would ever have good Mexican food again. I held on to hope. I searched high and low, failing time and time again. Today, I stumbled into the Latin American grocery store to try to find good tortillas so that I could at least attempt to satisfy my burrito desires. Then, like a beacon of hope, I saw that menu. Then I saw a burrito menu. Then I saw the San Diego burrito, and I heard the heavenly choirs. Back home, we call them California burritos, but San Diego burrito makes me even happier. I ordered, trying not to get my hopes up because I didn’t want to face another crushing disappointment. I smelled the carne asada cooking. It smelled right. The minutes ticked by. To many people, waiting 10 minutes would be a bad thing, but I know good burritos take time. He handed me that styrofoam takeout box. I opened it. It looked right. The hot sauce looked quality. I took a bite and made a sound I have never heard myself make before– somewhere between a cry, a scream and a relieved sigh. I was home. For 10 minutes as I downed that burrito, I was home. If you want authentic Mexican food, this is your place. Granted, I haven’t tried anything else yet; this was my first experience. But honestly, even if I go back and am less than thrilled with other menu items, I don’t even care. California burritos are what make me homesick, and now I have them. Thank you, Taco King. You will see me again. I will be your Burrito Maiden.

I first stumbled upon this little gem while ordering Online from GrubHub after becoming an ista-fan of them because of my quesadilla I decided to grab the boyfriend and head to the actual place a couple days later. Like others, we were a little confused upon entering that Taco King is just an extension of a grocery store, but I think that added a bit of authentic charm. My only gripe with the location is that it was hot as balls inside… We got about a dozen tacos and loved pretty much all of them… but again the quesadilla rocked my socks It was quirky, authentic, and even if it took some time and was hot and uncomfortable the food was pretty darn awesome. We will be back!

Good burrito, odd tamale, and frustrating service. Stopped by for some Mexican groceries and a dinner to go; I asked if the food would be 5 – 10 minutes, and the guy at the counter said 5. 10 minutes later, the food showed up in the window and the cook hit the order-up bell; then rang it again, and again. After five minutes I convince the guy at the counter to reach behind him and hand me my food. If they’d said 15 min I would have run another errand; if they’d given me my order at 10 minutes, it’d be fine — but staring at my rapidly-cooling order for five minutes definitely set my teeth on edge. The veggie burrito turned out fine; cheese was a little clumpy and black beans were firmer than I usually cook them myself, but the overall package worked well. The central-American tamale was wrapped in a banana leaf; it was fairly oily, and was filled mostly with canned green beans. Found a few carrot cubes as well — was this the same mix I used to get as a veggie side in my school lunch? Burrito was acceptable, but I doubt I’ll be back.

Was a little confused upon entering that Taco King is just an extension of a grocery store, but after I sat down, that added a bit of quirky charm. It took a bit of time to order because the guy at the register was taking a complicated phone order, but the service was very friendly, and the food was really good! The bf got a taco salad with tripe(yum!), which was more food than it looked like. It came with tortilla chips, too! I got three vegetarian tacos: King Taco(yum!), Mushroom, and Potato(really just chopped up French fries). The potato taco I could have done without, but the other two were great! Hoping to return soon to try more menu items!

Had Taco King for the first time and really liked the quality of the food and the prices. The crunchy tacos are my favorite and they were really good! I had the pastor and asada tacos. The pastor gets a little mark down in my book as there is pineapple in with the pork which I don’t really care for and can’t have due to some prescription reaction issues but the flavors were good. I also ordered some chips which were cheap and freshly made and had a really nice roasted corn taste! I’ll be back soon!
