I’ve given this place several chances because I enjoy one particular dish. This morning was my final visit. The customer service here is terrible and it clearly starts from the top with an owner/manager who seems to have forgotten(if she ever knew) that businesses are there for customers, not the other way around. In the past, I simply chalked it up to busy mornings, but today, the place was half empty. Our party of six was seated shortly after we walked in(again, half empty restaurant), although, for some reason, we were seated after a couple that walked in behind us. There are two dining rooms here, one had two tables seated, the other was busier but had several open tables. Out waitress said hello just a minute after we sat down, then nothing for 25 minutes. We finally placed our order and she came back with 3 coffees but not even a word about the other beverages ordered. Then we wait… and wait, and wait and wait. We finally flag our waitress down ask what is taking so long. Our waitress is apologetic but can’t explain the delay. We wait some more, ask for the manager, and wait again. I take my daughter to the restroom, passing through the other dining room, which is now fairly full with tables of diners and food. Where were these people when we walked in? They managed to get served. As we are walking back to our table, the couple who were sat immediately before us are paying their bill. We return to the table and still no food and no manager. Five more minutes and the food finally arrives but we need to ask for the missing beverages. We have now been waiting for over an hour. My daughters pancakes are a few shades shy of black, and other dishes are under-prepared. By now, I’m so angry I’ve lost my appetite. We again ask our waitress for the manager, she apologizes again, tells she has been working for the owner for 23 years(not sure why that matters) and that she just got slammed on this particular morning. We tell here we still want to talk to the manager. The manager comes over and we get nothing but attitude. She clearly could not care less about our experience(maybe because we have children with us?). She makes excuses and seems to think waiting an hour for food to be served is an acceptable standard. Finally, she asks«what do want me to do about it?» Really? That’s your response? Lady, your attitude is terrible and so is your restaurant. I have no idea why this place has three stars, avoid it all costs. Did you notice there is not a single response from management to any of the reviews here? Expect the same amount of attention if you waste your time and money here.

Prompt, friendly, and kind service! Food was delicious, fresh, and quick to arrive. The services are definitely generous and the prices are reasonable. Granted, we were here on a holiday weekend so the restaurant wasn’t AS crazy as it typically gets, but no complaints!

Not too shabby for a good, hearty breakfast in downtown Ann Arbor. We came here early on a Saturday morning and luckily had no wait, as we went so early. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and immediately seated and started scanning the menu — so many options! Our waitress was friendly and readily refilled our beverages without question, I don’t think my coffee ever got cold! I ordered some sort of egg scramble dish that came with a ton of veggies, egg whites, ham, and bacon, all mixed into some delicious hash browns. It was alright, but nothing outrageously stellar. The potatoes were a little mushy and could have been more crisp as it seemed to soggy the veggies, or maybe it was the veggies that made the potatoes mushy. Hm. My fiancé got a spicy omelet with chorizo and he was a happy camper with no complaints about the omelet. We both agreed that the toast was very, very standard, just plain ‘ol white bread and wheat bread that was toasted just a littttle too much. I wouldn’t be opposed to ever coming back but it did just the trick for a quick Saturday morning breakfast!

My first experience at the broken egg and I was underwhelmed. While the food was delicious for the most part, we were basically neglected by our server. It was not very busy yet what should have been a forty minute dining experience took over an hour and a half. Patrons who arrived after us received their food before we received ours. We would have said something but our waitress was nowhere to be found. As a direct result of this slow service, we also ended up with a ticket despite putting ample time in the meter. Additionally, while the cinnamon French toast was good, the last piece was clearly not cooked and instead soggy with batter. Overall not a great experience.

Favorite brunch place in Ann Arbor. Homey, cozy and deliciously large portions that I shouldn’t finish but always do. My three friends and I always got: –Joaquin Yahoo Omelette: EXACTLY what you want in a veggie omelette. Mushrooms, onions, zucchini, tomatoes. I think we added spinach once before too. No weird ass vegetables. We don’t want no broccoli here.(SERIOUSLYWHYDOSOMEPLACESDOTHAT? it’s weird). –Chocolate Chip Pancakes: perfection in fluffy semi-sweet chocolate bites. –Eggs Benedict: always a classic and done very well here.

Shared a Chicago omelette, chocolate chip pancakes, and a stuffed French toast concoction, and it was all reasonably good. Omelette was fine(though those are really hard to F-up unless a restaurant does something like using processed cheese or phony eggs). Pancakes were also good. The stuffed French toast would have been great if they had cut back on the cream cheese filling, which the quantity of pushed too far into the domain of desert. Still, the cherry walnut bread that it was based on was amazing, as was the caramel sauce that topped it. In general though, this was a breakfast place with a little bit more creativity than most places put into similar dishes. The restaurant could also boost its game by using fresh squeezed orange juice.

We went here for the first time today. The hostess told us to expect a 10 – 15 minute wait, fine. After 15 minutes, we were seated. Then, we sat for 10 minutes before anyone approached our table. No water, no utensils, no coffee, no, «I’m sorry, I’ll be right with you,» nothing. When the waitress got to us she was very apologetic, and then things happened in a timely manner. It was not her fault at all, but I was shocked at how she seemed to be single handily running the whole section, an impossible task for anyone. The food was just okay, nothing notable to make up for the wait. Next time I’ll head to Angelos or Zola, I’d be hard pressed to go here again.

I love this place especially during the week. Their menu is full of nice options, healthy and cheat once. Their restaurant quite big and variety of table sizes even if someone want to have party or gathering. In town by Kerry Town. Friendly staff and nice food.

Took a week off from work and took full advantage of avoiding the usual weekend crowds at popular breakfast spots. Walk in and there was no wait for a table. Yes! Looking at the menu, it’s typical breakfast food so I opted for the more outlandish french toast special. I believe it was the Queen of Hearts french toast. Cherry and walnut bread stuffed with cream cheese and drizzled in caramel with a dollop of whipped cream. The portion of this thing was massive; it was like two cream cheese sandwiches and it was lovely. Although good, the cream cheese was a tad too melted and there was way too much caramel on the plate. Hello sugar rush! The boyfriend had a Cajun hash special, which too was massive and had good flavor. I typically frequent Northside but wouldn’t be opposed to coming back.

The best eggs Benedict ever. Period. Perfect sauce on fresh eggs, etc, with nicely salted and browned hash browns. I’ve had all sorts of bene’s from all sorts of places, but this was the best. Hands down. I would say the sauce made the meal. You have to try it. Not fancy or extreme in any way. Balanced. My wife had the Arnold and she was raving as well. I tasted the sauce and I thought it was very good. Had a side of the apple raisin bread — it was really good. Fresh baked homemade type not too crunchy crust or too thick like Angelo’s Service was friendly and very fast. 1:30 on Saturday(after rush) may have helped. Coffee kept coming. In and out in 40 min.

A long time Ann Arbor breakfast institution, the Broken Egg anchors the north end of Main Street’s restaurant row and draws heavy on the student population. The Egg is always a busy place and getting a table on Saturday morning can be as tough a challenge as finding a parking space in this part of the city. Once seated with a cup of Joe in the busy and sometimes loud dining room, we placed our orders for a Joaquin Yahoo Veggie Omelette and an order of their Eggs Arnold(a play on Mr. Benedict). The Broken Egg’s specialty omelettes are big… one of the few places that make them with 4 jumbo eggs. The Joaquin Yahoo Veggie is sautéed with carmelized onions, fresh baby spinach, ‘shrooms, zucchini and tomatoes. It is then topped with aged cheddar, Swiss cheese, red pepper salsa and sour cream. This $ 10 dish is big enough to serve as both breakfast and lunch. The toppings definitely make it a winner especially with a big helping of tasty salsa. The Eggs Arnold is inviting as it positions two poached eggs atop grilled tomatoes, fresh spinach and English muffin. The eggs are then topped with a rich tarragon yogurt sauce and served with hash brown. This dish is considerably smaller than the omelette but also comes through with some distinctive and delicious flavors. Service at the Egg can be spotty from time to time but today it was great… friendly, helpful and quick with the warm-ups and bill. It serves to give visitors to A-squared a good sense for this college town as well as an imaginative breakfast menu.

Not kid friendly! For starters my experience is normally For starters my experience is normally well, but unfortunately this experience was not a very good one! Long story short decided to take our family here, was told we could be seated by an older woman with glasses(come to find out she is the owner from the other workers their, all bad right!) since a round table that can seat 5 to 6 people was clearly free of humans! She then proceeded to tell us that a group will be done eating in the back were no where near done. As we waited she decided to right near us and eat at a table that seated 4. Right in front of us! Really? We left, husband called talk, spoke to a worker their, she told Him she was wondering too why we were still wait, and others wondered as well. I recommend don’t go their with kids, not kid friendly!

Had the Arnold Benedict and it was decent. Little too much yogurt sauce for me but overall it was solid. They were very busy because of the game so the service was super rushed. Coffee was just okay.

I came here to meet friends(unfortunately during a Sunday breakfast rush-my mistake.) it wasn’t clear to me how I got on the wait list so I asked a real customer pleaser how I did that. I didn’t interrupt her or ask rudely. I got a «write your name on the sign-in sheet» and with an attitude that suggested I had just asked the worlds most moronic question. Great start. During my 25 minute wait, I noted a large group(maybe 7 or 8) got seated within 5 minutes and oddly enough they seemed to know the hostess. To be fair the hostess is not the same peach that told me about the sign in sheet. It obviously is a busy place so I am not complaining about the wait, just the favoritism. We got seated, the atmosphere is… yellow. And just, dirty feeling. The place was packed and really, really loud. Again, our fault for going during a rush. I couldn’t hear my friend sitting across the table from me. Waitress: rushed, polite, efficient. Lord help her working at this place. You could tell she wanted us to hurry up and eat but I didn’t really want to hang around either. Food: cold English muffin, not toasted, no butter until requested. Cold, hard potatoes. Spinach and feta omelette, good, semi-warm. Coffee bland and cold. Water glasses, tiny with murky water. My friends said their pancakes were delicious and the portions were large. No one liked their eggs. I felt dirty when I left. I really would like to go back on a slow day and try one of their sandwiches or salads. Everyone deserves a second chance. Hopefully it will be that kind front counter woman’s day off. She really set the tone for a disappointing experience. I will update my review if I go back.

Got my go-to breakfast item — the corned beef hash here. It’s not on the menu, so that should’ve been my first clue. But I saw a picture of it on Unilocal,so I figured I’d give it a try. Bad mistake. The corned beef part of it was fine, but the ratio of potatoes to corned beef was off. I was overwhelmed with the starchy potatoes. The potatoes were in slices. Think very thin potato wedges. Didn’t make for a good dish. Maybe my fault for ordering off the menu, but hey this should be a given for any breakfast place! The dish put me back about $ 11 – 14(I forget the exact amount). Our table had also ordered the Arnold here, but they said they were out of English muffins, so she offered us to substitute it for a different kind of bread. What kind of breakfast/brunch places runs out of English Muffins if you have things on the menu that necessitates it? Now it may have been my fault for ordering off the menu with the corned beef hash, but the Arnold is something ON the menu, but they still couldn’t do that right. Strike two. All in all, there are many other better breakfast/brunch places in AA. Angelo’s and Nick’s House of Pancakes come to mind. Go there.

This place is your typical bacon and eggs shop. That’s it. I think they offered some pancakes, waffles and other carby delights. We split a plain egg and cheese omelette and asked to put some vegetables in it to make a vegetable omelette. The waitress responded that they«don’t have any vegetables». We asked if this was a fluke or if a shipment hadn’t come in that day. She clarified that they just don’t have vegetables other than potatoes there. We asked if there was some fresh fruit we could add to the side. She said, «there might be some bananas in back.» So there you go. Who needs vegetables or fruit in a breakfast? Bacon, eggs, waffles, pancakes are all you need, right? Well, the price for these basics was pretty crazy. Our plain cheese omelette and coffee came out to $ 17.

This place is a nice gem where most students don’t go, so it’s not crowded. The chocolate chip pancakes are large and thick, and they come with plenty of chocolate. The order came with 3 pancakes, but I only needed half that order to be full and satisfied. The hot chocolate also comes with an absolute tower of whipped cream.

This cozy place off Main Street is a good option for simple, down-to-earth, Americana breakfast. Myself and a group of friends went here on a Sunday late morning. Wait wasn’t as bad as some places during the coveted weekend brunch time extravaganza — I’d guestimate 15 minutes or so for all 5 of us. I had the Joaquin Yahoo omelet. Filling and good, but not spectacular. The omelet needed a bit of salt and pepper and some jalapeño sauce for a bit of extra«omph». Hash Browns were a little on the undercooked side. Toast is nice, but they really should include an option for you to just pay a little extra for raisin or apple raisin toast, rather than the full-blown 5 bucks. I sampled my friend’s Banana Walnut Cakes. That was soft, moist, flavorful. If you’re in the mood for a breakfast on the sweeter side, I highly recommend it. Service is so warm. Reminds me of my grandmother.

Service was a little slow but it was busy on sunday morning. I think they may have been a tiny bit understaffed for a sunday brunch rush. I ordered the eggs benedict, one of my favorites for brunch, and thought they did a pretty good job at it. It was just classic eggs benny, nothing fancy or any twists put on it. It came with a side of hash browns that were a mix between shredded and sliced potatoes. All in all it was tasty and I was very full when I left.

This place is much better than it used to be. I remember years ago, visiting when they were more skillet-esk and didn’t have bacon on the menu. that was really annoying and I made a point not to visit there again. This visit was at the insistence of a pregnant girlfriend and who am I to deny her craving for eggs. I was ready to be disappointed but alas I am corrected. They have changed. Great selection of breakfast and lunch fare. Bacon and fresh fruit, along with inventive specials and not vegan veggie strict crap. I think I like them now. Great place for breakfast or lunch on the cheaper side for downtown Ann Arbor. Still the same old place as 12 years ago but it’s has its charm. Sitting in the window to watch the intersection is pretty fun. Excellent fresh toast, and eggs benedict.
