I used to love this place. It was so romantic and the crepes were really good. I felt very sad when I discovered it was closed but today I came back and it was opened under a different name«the crêpe». New owners. But same menu. I hope they are still as good as they were :)

Worst restaurant experience in years. While we were seated quickly and had a very pleasant and fairly attentive waitress(I wish I could remember her name) who was the only redeming aspect of my visit. The wait for food(half of which never came) was over 45 minutes. Management should be ashamed of their inability to keep a kitchen stocked, and moving at a speed to provide quality service(as well as actually putting out the food that was ordered) without forcing the waitstaff to go and apologize for them running out of food 30 plus minutes after the order was placed.

What an appropriate name for this restaurant. My boyfriend and I came to Ann Arbor for the weekend and I wanted to find some easy restaurants for us to go to. I’m celiac and lactose-intolerant so I always have to check menus before we go anywhere. What Crêpe? popped up and I couldn’t wait to go; it’s probably been seven years since I’ve had a crêpe. We showed up late morning and were pleasantly surprised there was no wait, though we were warned food was taking about half an hour. No big deal. Our very friendly and knowledgeable server soon came over and took our order. We each got a sweet crêpe and I ordered bacon on the side. Twenty minutes later, she apologetically informed us the kitchen was out of bacon. I felt bad she was just finding out, but irritated the kitchen could run out of a staple item. I also thought this meant the food would be on its way out. Instead z shortly after another employee(maybe a manager?) apologized for the wait and said the manager would be taking half off the bill for the wait. A nice gesture. Almost half an hour AFTER that, my boyfriend’s crêpe shows up. I can see our server talking with kitchen staff. A manager comes to table and they told me, after nearly an HOUR, that they were out of their gluten free/vegan batter. So, I would be getting zero food. Nothing. No offer to try to make something, anything, for me. They comped his food and we left. The only redeeming thing about this was our server. They don’t deserve her. Throughout everything she was smiling and professional. Hands down, otherwise, one of the worst restaurant experiences.

Great menu options with lots to choose from. I was dining with my wife who has food allergies and they are very accommodating. The chief, Chris, came out to understand what she needed and it tasted great when she got it. Will definitely return.

I would give this a 3.5 but feeling generous. The ambiance is very nice. Very hipster. We ordered the monkey crêpe. I think the crêpe itself is average. The flavors and the combo is very prototype. The crunchiness(with nuts) in the crêpe made it unique. It’s not bad

We went specifically to this restaurant for their vegan crepes. We specifically look for vegan options due to food allergies. After being seated we were told they were out of their vegan batter and we’re not expecting any that day even though it was only lunch time. We were extremely disappointed and my daughter was close to tears as she had been looking forward to this meal for over a week. I would think the management would ensure that enough batter is present at all times especially since the restaurant is known for their vegan options. In addition a sign at the front should have been posted so that no one should have to wait for seating only to find out that there are no vegan crepes. Very disappointing.

Their menu made Mother’s Day brunch delicious! We ordered the savory appetizer flight first. They were out of salmon pâté, which is why we ordered it in the first place, but the chorizo con queso and artichoke dip were both flavorful. We ordered 3 entrees and passed them around — James Dean, Seabreeze, and Basil and Brie. I loved all three, but one member of our party wasn’t crazy about the sweetness of the cherry sauce on the James Dean. I, on the other hand, could have licked the plate! For dessert, we tried the Banana Exotique and The Patriot. Again, both were excellent. We used a Groupon, making it affordable to order several dishes to sample. They gave me a free mimosa for Mother’s Day, making it even better. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive, and made good recommendations for our first visit. I would have given them 5 stars if they hadn’t been out of salmon pâté, and if the food runners hadn’t delivered our appetizer to another table, then still charged us full price for it, sans the salmon pâté, and delivering it after our entrees. I will definitely visit again to work my way through the menu.

Excellent food served by amateurish waitstaff. I adored the Green Goat savory crêpe and the St. Germaine sweet crêpe. The Green Goat was an interesting and unusual mix of flavors that changed(in a good way) with each bite. The service was sad. After a long wait, the sweet crêpe was served before the savory crêpe. We’d told the server that two of us were sharing both crepes, but no extra plate was provided, and we had to wait again for a plate after asking. Checks were slow to arrive, be picked up, and returned again. If you have time and patience on your hands, this place could work for you. If you’re in a hurry or expect quality service, skip What Crêpe?

A group on, a craving, and a free Friday morning led us to What Crêpe(which I always call«What the Crêpe?» for no particular reason) We both got build your own crepes which was marvelous. Wait time was short(we were first order of the day) and service was pleasant. Ordered $ 25 worth of crepes, only paid $ 16. All in all a very fine deal.

This place came recommended so when I saw a Groupon for it, I jumped at the opportunity, quickly bought it, and made it a point to try it soon. I went on a Sunday after church. It wasn’t very crowded but there there was still a good amount of people in the restaurant. The ambiance was cute and cozy. It definitely had a Parisian feel. The offerings of savory and sweet crepes are quite extensive and they all sound delicious so it’s pretty hard to decide. I literally wanted to try everything. I love options! After careful consideration and the recommendation of my waitress, I went with a crêpe not on the regular menu. It had chicken, bacon and pesto on top. My eating companion went with the Chicken Truffle crêpe. It took a little while for the food to come but that’s because they make it fresh to order. I don’t mind waiting for food if I know it will be fresh and hot, which it was. My sandwich was good but the Chicken Truffle was awesome! The zip sauce really made the crêpe. I could drink that sauce by the glassful! Next time, I think I’ll order the Spicy Chicken Truffle crêpe and get extra zip sauce on the side. I also plan on trying a sweet crêpe. It’s a little pricey for what you get. It would be nice if a side like a salad or veggie came with crêpe for the price. You can tell the ingredients are fresh so I guess that’s part of what you pay for. I recommend it if you’re in the area and are in the mood for a crêpe.

I stopped here one day thinking I would order a desert crêpe to go. Instead I sat at the bar to look over the menu. The bartender suggested I grab a drink and of course I couldn’t say no. I can’t remember the drink I ordered, but I remembered it was really strong. So I decided against a sweet crêpe for a savory crêpe. The selection of sweet and savory crepes was impressive. You can also order without the crêpe. I ordered the CHICKENTRUFFLE — pan-seared house marinated chicken, spinach, swiss, truffle zip for $ 13.50.

We came here using a Groupon for a Saturday lunch. It is located on a busy street in the middle of a college town so you need to use street parking if you are driving. We made a reservation ahead which was good because the wait time was about an hour since it is a hot spot for weekend brunch. We started off with the savory appetizer flight which included crispies(thin crispy crêpe flakes) with a few different dips: queso, salmon, and spinach. The queso had a different style than other restaurant quesos since this one had bits of chorizo in it which made it have a nice, distinct flavor. The salmon and spinach dips were decent as well but nothing spectacular. We then each received our savory crepes. I got the spicy chicken truffle which turned out to be amazingly flavorful but did lack in terms of actual filling. It has a spicy sauce inside of the crêpe with spinach and chicken and served alongside truffle oil which was a nice touch. They have options of ordering set crepes or building your own kind from scratch with your own fillings. Finally, we decided to order a sweet crêpe since we had to have the complete experience obviously even though we were pretty full already. We chose the Patriot which is a crêpe filled with Nutella with different berries and ice cream on top. It was definitely enough for 2 people to share, especially 2 people on full stomachs. I enjoyed the atmosphere of What Crêpe, a modern trendy setting and it has an extensive menu with many different crêpe selections including building your own if you don’t see anything you like. The prices are a little on the higher end for each crêpe being in the $ 10-$ 15 range. They also have a full bar area in the front of the restaurant with so that is a nice touch. I would come back here but maybe wait for another Groupon to take down the overall cost because there’s other options with similar quality for a lesser price.

The service was great! They have a small but eclectic beer selection with Michigan brews. I’m a big fan of the Short’s Brew Soft Parade beer. Not only is it a high gravity beer, but also it is infused with blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and blackberries. We had the pleasure of trying three different crepes on this occasion. All of the crepes have a great consistency and flavor! If you love pesto and shrimp, go for the Seabreeze crêpe. The Mexican crêpe was a breakfast style crêpe, but it came with a sweet sauce. I would’ve preferred a spicy sauce. You must try the Spicy Chicken Truffle! It was excellent. It was very savory with a great flavor combination, and not too much spice. I would highly recommend this place for people to try.

This past Saturday was my second visit to this location. The first time I wasn’t super impressed, but my SO wanted crepes for desert so we headed over there. It was bad. We both ordered a cocktail. He had a Spanish Coffee and mine was a Pumpkin Pie Martini that they were advertising. We also put in our order for the Patriot crêpe at the same time. I guess I’ve never been out to eat before because I thought your drinks were supposed to come before your food? Not about 8 – 10 minutes after? As we sat there we could see about 3 – 4 members of the staff all huddled in the bar making the drinks together, as if if was a drink making class. They were literally just hanging out. The actual bartender, who had a giant hickey on her neck that you could see from across the room, was too busy talking to attend to our drinks so we could actually enjoy them before our food came out. Next, the place was empty. 6 patrons, including us, then another couple comes in and they seat them DIRECTLY next to us to the point my SO had to get out on my side because he would have disturbed the other couple and they would have had to move their table over. Oh, yeah, when the lady asked how much a bottle of wine was the server had no idea. The man asked for an Old Fashioned and they accommodated with something else that I did hear him say was decent, but there was another bartending class with employees to make the drink. At least they got their drinks before their food, but probably because the bartender was out there instead of flailing her hands around in the kitchen as I saw her doing. The crepes? I’ll pass. It’s not as if it was astonishingly good. I make better crepes at home and I also could make a Pumpkin Pie martini that actually tastes like Pumpkin, but their take on that is just pouring a TON of Pumpkin Pie spices on top. The waitress was clearly not expecting a tip as she also gave us the oddest combination of change from an 100 as well, but they could just be their drawer. I wouldn’t put it past them, though, as they were just acting very dumb the entire time we were there.

Definitely a fan of this place. I am actually thinking about bringing my parents here this weekend. They have really tasty, different, and interesting food. If you are going with a friend or a date, and you both want sweet AND savory, I suggest splitting a savory crêpe and then splitting the apple/caramel crêpe that is topped with VANILLA ice cream. YUM!!! I think if you each get your own savory and then split a sweet crêpe for dessert, you will be stuffed(at least I was!!) :) Live and learn! They also have a Groupon deal right now, so get that first! Enjoy!

3 stars cause service was EXCELLENT but I shrug my shoulders to the savory crepes. Too salty and oily for my taste but I’d be up for a go with the sweet crepes(except they almost look too sweet, with extra whip and the whole bit). Maybe I’m like Goldie Locks and haven’t been able to find the crêpe that fits my taste buds just right? I’m willing to try more until I find the perfect fit!

Let me break it down: Savory crepes: 3 stars — great flavor, but very heavy on the crêpe and pretty light on the filling. Loved the truffle chicken, steak, and shrimp crepes we’ve tried… but, ended up leaving excess crêpe on the plate every time, and wishing for more of «the good stuff»(aka protein, veggies, sauce). Sweet crepes: 4 stars — delicious amazingess, good creativity, and did I mention delicious? I would rate them 5 stars, but they do suffer somewhat from the aforementioned excessive crêpe syndrome, its just more expected and less of a problem on the dessert plates. Other: 3 — We tried the crêpe chips and queso, which were okay… good, even. Just not a «must get». The sangria was pretty tasty, too. Atmosphere and staff: 3.5ish — Not bad, not memorable. Pleasant enough. Food arrived at different times, and check-ins were sporadic. I did like the interior, but some tables seemed crampy. The bar had a fun seating setting and the door/entryway is kind of confusing. I came on a groupon, and I would visit again but I’d order more carefully. I think this spot would be best for a post-date dessert and drink… why not?
