I know this is technically supposed to be specialty food and all that — and I truly don’t mind paying a bit more for higher quality goods. The thing is, I don’t find these to be higher quality at all. The pastries are average at best. And I’m not willing to pay these higher prices for for these meh items. The ones I remember most specifically are the cinnamon roll(which was super dry) and their croissant which seemed to lack flavor and texture. Zingerman’s has such a great reputation, so I really wanted to love this place, but I just impressed at all.

I have wanted to check out this location for a while. I finally decided to make the trek and check it out. There was a few spaces in the parking lot but I can imagine that space arr a premium when it is really busy. There are also metered spaces outside of the parking lot. There is a sandwich shop, coffee shop and deli. I opted for the coffee shop as I had already eaten. The place what I would consider fairly spacious. Not large but not on the small end. It has simple chairs and environment. There is a menu of a variety of coffees and teas to choose from. I decided on the recommended Dirty Sheed which has espresso, a shot of Mexican vanilla and cream. It usually comes cold but I asked them to make it hot seeing that this was a cold and chilly day. The gentleman behind the counter gave some nice recommendations on how to do this. It was a delicious cup of espresso. Price was steep at $ 5.00 for a double shot. I also opted for a cake that me and my friend shared. We than proceeded through the area and ended up in the meat/Deli section. The meets were varied and looked great. We ended up by the cheese and meats. As we were looking an employee had us try some meets in the deli area. Salami always hits the right spot and he proceeded to give us variations and taste. He was a really helpful guy and very informative. They were REALLY tasty. I decided on the Sopressata Abruzzese. It was $ 19 a pound so I opted for the ½ pound. This was an amazing place for various meats and cheeses, I plan on visiting here again.

The fact that this place has a 3 and a half star review is stupid. If you haven’t had a Zingermans sandwich than you’re basically a sandwich noob and you don’t know what a good sandwhich is. They have a massive amount of sandwiches to choose from and the lady at the check out gave me a free pop. If you disagree that these sandwiches are bomb than you’re basically wrong and your entire family probably has a separate Christmas they don’t invite you to.

I went in between classes, and loved the experience. It was a bit busy because it was the weekend, but the line went by pretty fast, and had great service from the cashier. Bonus: The barista made a me a perfect Breve!

It’s specialty food, so of course it’s overpriced. That we get — I know a lot of the stuff you buy here you can get far cheaper elsewhere — IF you can find it elsewhere. Some items are much harder to find than others. But their service is top-notch. Allowing you to taste ANYthing they sell is a fantastic business practice that I am sure sells more items. Not to mention, it invokes ZERO buyer’s remorse when you get home. Their deli/breakfast foods are great, really tasty and made with the best stuff. Paying $ 19 for a sandwich with 8 ounces of meat/cheese seems like a lot, but you are getting a half pound of the good stuff as well as homemade bread, tasty condiments, and a pickle if you choose. The drinks are made well; it’s nice to see people paying attention to how to properly make and serve different coffees, teas, chocolate drinks, etc. This is just not a place you go to when you’re on a budget. You pay for good quality food, supporting local to semi-local companies and small farms/companies. You get really great service that is all about YOU, the customer, and without a doubt helping the company pay a livable wage to the employees so it’s not just your run-of-the-mill job. That is part of what keeps the service great, the customers happy, and creates a circle of impeccable service. We come here every time we make a cross country trip, and wish we had one locally.

Very cool place for a quick lunch. The menu was a little overwhelming from all of the sandwich choices but was very good. The wait was not long and the process of ordering and paying was simple. I really enjoyed all of the craft sodas in the fountain drink machine. Love that you can sample anything!

Amazing. First, call ahead for sandwiches. The wait can easily get very long. Secondly, explore the bread while waiting for your sandwich. The bagels hold up really well if you freeze them. Zingerman’s is a must for anyone who visits Ann Arbor.

They do have some great drinks, like the teas and the egg cream, but the pastries can be hit or miss. The bostock has constantly been good, but today I had their Obama bun and was disappointed. So dry! So hard! Practically inedible. If you want good seating, go early in the morning, though, especially on weekends.

ZND was a great last stop on the way out of town after a too brief stay in A2. The lemon scone was A-Ok. Sure, my short mocha was pricey. Maybe there was some fancy chocolate in there. And, I suppose the coffee beans were roasted recently, ground consistently, and brewed at the correct water temp. The coffee flavor was so good, I imagine it must be so. Seating at ZND isn’t the most comfortable, bathrooms are one-seaters upstairs, and parking is lousy from the perspective of a suburbanite like me(nearby parking meter adds to the cost per ounce of brew). Still, for a cup of coffee like that, I’d do it again.

Nothing special here. I have a soy allergy and they don’t offer coconut milk, but do have almond. Ordered an almond milk latte and it was cold and mostly milk. Asked for a water and was given a dirty glass and was told to fill it myself at the pop station. The atmosphere is quaint and comfortable enough. Music was good(lots of Beatles), so was good for having an informal meeting, but I wont be back.

Expensive with extremely small portion. I ordered double gellatos with a shot of espresso, and the scoop of one gellato was equal to three samples that i tested beforehand! Part of it have melted probably, but the scoop was way smaller than any possible scoop you could hame imagined. Will never try this place ever!

Dirty sheed… One of the best coffee drinks out here in AA. Served cold. So rich and refreshing. Also, the 2nd floor is an awesome place to work. Mostly pretty quiet when I come, it’s sunny and spacious!

Amazing. Go here for the Dirty Sheed. Brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it. Pastry and gelato are extremely expensive for portion sizes, but this is Zingerman’s! Like most places in Ann Arbor, it’s more suited for students with fat loan checks and wealthy yuppies who cannot bother to subject themselves to anything but the best.

I’m addicted to the affogato here. I mean, I love coffee. I love gelato. Put ‘em together, and what do you get? Addiction, that’s what. Try it with the cinnamon or the stone-ground gelato. Other times, I get the regular coffee, café au lait, and/or the café con miel. All are fantastic. The baristas are skilled, so you will get a «crafted» cup of goodness. The cakes aren’t really that impressive here, and they’re incredibly overpriced for average sweets. The gelato is great, and I love that you can get a teeny tiny portion for like $ 2. Sometimes I just need a nibble when I’m craving those very rich flavors! Other times I need it with a couple shots of espresso: P The store/counter area is really crowded and confusing to navigate. But when you’re stuck in this crammed area, the staff will distract you with free samples, so that’s good. There is plenty of seating upstairs, and I like getting work done or just do some people watching.

I stopped here after a sandwich at their Delicatessen. This place is small and quaint, and, like the Deli, has very friendly staff. I got a hot cocoa to go but then I got caught up browsing all the chocolates they have for sale — and they indeed have a lot! One of their staff members asked if I needed help and we ended up talking for almost 10 minutes about her favorite chocolates they sell, where they are sourced, what they taste like, etc. She was very knowledgeable! You are able to sample as many chocolates as you want so that’s great for those trying to explore new products. The only reason I am giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 is that it’s a bit pricey. oar of their chocolates averaged at about $ 10 per bar, and even some bars were in the $ 20s. That’s the only drawback, but I still ended up spending over $ 50 total, so I guess it didn’t turn me away!

This is a well run restaurant and specialty good retailer. While you wait, you can sample their food delivered by enthusiastic staffers. For those of you from the east coast or if you’ve spent time there, this is your typical Jewish deli on marketing steroids. The portions for the regular size corned beef and turkey are normal compared to stage deli in New York or other traditional east coast joints. The menu has some creative combos and titles. We had a turkey special and a corned beef special(13). We also had wonderful breakfast sandwich on a bagel with smoked bacon and Vermont cheddar. The coffee blend wasn’t too special. Worth checking out if there isn’t a long line or if you’ve never had great deli food. We were first at the door and total time on site was 1 hour 10 minutes. Nice outdoor seating patio if the weather allows.

I have a preeeeetty intense sweet tooth. You could say I have multiple sweet teeth. Probably a full set. As such, Zingerman’s next door is my jam. Baked goods galore! Cinnamon buns, scones, croissants, muffins, and other delightful breakfasty things. Cakes, cupcakes, cookies, pies and specialty desserts like the Paris Brest cream puff, or the Hungarian dobos torte for post sandwich treats(get slices or full cakes or pies too!). Also 5 different types of hot chocolate, special monthly beverages(egg creams, malts, etc), gelato, a chocolate counter with amazing locally made truffles, and tons of delicious prepackaged chocolate bars, baking supplies, candy and more(including the amazing Zingerman’s made candy like the Zzang bars and peanut brittle). It can be a tight fit in there since there’s SO much stuffed into the space along with seating but for me it’s worth the discomfort for so many delicious sweet treats. The worst part is really narrowing it down since it’s easy to want to go crazy and get one of everything!

Holy gelato batman! This stuff is amazing. My advice: get some maple pecan with espresso poured over– I think they called it «la fogata». Whatever it was, it was so delicious. This place has the same feel as all the other Zingerman’s establishments. Cool places. Overpriced. But whatevs.

Just as the name suggests, Zingerman’s Next Door is… you got it… next door to Zingerman’s Delicatessen. It’s a cute little house decked out sweets, pastries, gelato, coffee, gifts, gourmet sodas, apple cider, and more. It’s a less hectic experience than the deli, and had a much more relaxed atmosphere. I met up for a friend to catch up and have a sweet treat, and it was fun little spot to get something tasty. As with the deli, you can taste just about everything before you buy it. The girl behind the counter was patient as I tried 5 different flavors of gelato before settling on «Paw Paw»(Michigan’s tropical fruit). It’s a little pricier than the average coffee shop, but if you’re there, you’re already expecting to come for the quality. The staff are super sweet and happy to make suggestions. Try a few things and enjoy your time next door. You’ll be glad you did.
