Richards Tree Service

We were pleased the arborist gave us several recommendations of treating an infestation of borers. We elected to have the tree sprayed, then pruned, and scheduled a second spraying next May. The crew did an excellent clean-​up following the pruning and consulted with me several times during the pruning on what could be cut or remain.
Having used another tree service based on price alone in the past, we will probably contact Richards first in the future.

Found Richard’s ad in one of those weekly packets that arrive in the mail. The free estimate is what drew me in. The arborist who came out to my house seemed knowledgeable and, frankly, honest. The estimate was reasonable and the crew not only did a very good job trimming our tree, but also cleaned up every piece of debris. I would recommend this company. Also, when I went to their website, I found a coupon which brought the already-​reasonable estimate down.

I received a flyer in the Val pak envelope and decided to give Richard’s tree service a call for an estimate on having some limbs cut off 2 trees. I also saw on the flyer that he was an Angie’s list super award winner (2010) for service. I thought ok, cool, that doesn’t hurt. The guy that came out said he was Richard’s brother and part owner of the company. After looking at the work that needed to be done he hands me the estimate and says: Don’t be sticker shocked. The estimate was for $ 2800.00 and yes I was shocked!
I called another company (see my next review) and their estimate was $ 700.00. I asked both companies what their process is for taking off the limbs and the process was exactly the same.
I guess if you win an award on Angie’s list they must think it’s like winning an Oscar for best performance and charge 4 times more!
In closing I would like to add: You can keep your award and I’ll keep my $ 2100.00.!!
And to the guy who handed me the estimate and said: Don’t get sticker shock, don’t be review shocked!

Awesome company to work with! Arrived on time at 8am, very knowledgeable foreman, great job and great price (after coupon discount). We had a holly tree cut back and a butterfly bush shaped and sized down. Highly recommended.
