The 2 star rating isn’t meant to imply that this is a bad library(honestly, I haven’t used it enough to know, nor have I been using it the way that libraries are traditionally used), just that I’ve experienced better for my personal needs. This library is on the smaller and older side. This means that it doesn’t have as many windows or get as much sunlight. Actually, one of the windows was purposely being blocked by a poster; when the poster fell down, somebody put it back up. While there are some tables and chairs, most do not appear to have access to electrical outlets, which is a must for me. Although there are computers you can use, I, and I assume most people these days, have their own laptop and prefer to plug themselves in. The chairs are adequate, but by no means cozy or super comfortable. A lady and her kid were studying here. They kept talking, not in their library voices, and the kid was eating. I love libraries that let you eat, but this kid was in his teens and doing it with his mouth wide open, with all the accompanying sounds. Distracting and gross. It’s Children’s Book Week, and there is a table for kids to do some sort of related craft, which is nice. However, I haven’t been able to ascertain what sort of activity, if any, actually enhances the Book Week theme.

This is our closest library. We love the children’s section for the boys as they have a puppet booth, play areas that change with season, a computer for children to use with games appropriate to learning and age, puzzles, etc. They also have a great variety of magazines for kids and grown ups. You can use them while you are there. And if you are electronically savvy they have many free online magazines you can read from home with your library card. The staff is very helpful in all regards. We have been going here for a couple years now and we always enjoy going. They also host many children’s and grown up events.

I have always been a fan of libraries and I think we don’t use them enough. You can’t beat FREE access to information and knowledge, you really can’t. This library is part of the Anne Arundel County library system, so that means that you can go online and see if they have what you are looking for. Because I take alot of road trips, I require audio books to keep me occupied. Since I’m a cheapo and I am old school, I get audio books from the library. If you request them, with enough time they can get the one you want in their circulation. So why would you not use them?! I’ve always been able to find great fiction and non-fiction audio books here. If this one doesn’t have anything you want, there is also the branch on West street that’s not too far from here.
