The service and food were excellent. We each ordered different items and all were great – catfish tacos, two types of pizza and jaguar sandwich. Of course the draft beer choices were the perfect«side». Our service was timely, friendly and very comfortable. Made you want to spend the afternoon!

Terribly slowwwwwwwwwww service. I could have walked to flagstaff and back by now. Jesus might come back for the 2nd coming while I’m waiting. Mine as well save my seat here for the next football season and UFC300.

Please do not go here, and spend money on this cafeteria pizza. Service unresponsive and unattentive and rude.

I love rookies. This is where I go with my buddies after work for a beer when it’s been a long week. Always fun!

The food here more than exceeded our expectations. The small garden salad was a spring mix and spinach combination – SUPER fresh– with plump and juicy grape tomatoes, shaved carrot pieces, etc. The fried mozzarella was buffalo mozz with a nice chunky marinara. The portabella mushroom sandwich was really nicely done; juicy but crisp along the edges, well seasoned, with hot and crispy fries. We just truly enjoyed our experience here and will visit again next time we are in the area.

I have eaten here about two times. And needless to say i was disappointed both times. I do not like the food here at all. Although I have gone in to just hangout and drink and the bartender Stacy was so much fun. She is so friendly and so fun to talk to. There are definitely more places that need someone like her!

Mostly locals head to this sports outpost as the waitress seemed surprised to hear that we had not dined here. The waitress was a very nice gal and seemed very concerned with customer satisfaction. My sliders needed to be recooked or reformed for some reason and at the end of the meal we did receive a free basket of cinnamon nuggets. It’s noisy and cramped and that was on a Monday night when most people were not even watching the game, but they were playing poker. As for the entrees, my sliders and house chips at $ 8.99 were quite mundane. Just a slice of cheese and some poor looking lettuce and tomatoes were on board. Adding the cold, but very crunchy chips salvaged these sliders. The jaquar wrap looked ok and did not receive any complaints. It just seems like your average neighborhood sports bar with average food, a nice waitress and a decent number of TV sets to watch sports. Take it on leave it. The cinnabites were good, but the cooks mangled the icing somehow nuking it so much that we could not get the icing out of the cup to dip.

My family’s favorite bar. Decent beer selection and my sister is addicted to the fried pickles. I’m sure we’ll keep coming here a few times a week.

Stopped here on our way back to Phoenix from Flagstaff to catch the Cardinals game. Found it on Unilocal.Glad we did. Perfect neighborhood sports bar atmosphere. Our server Aaron was awesome! He was attentive and never took long to fulfill any request. I had a ceaser salad, teriyaki wings and pretzel apps. All tasted great! Perfect spot for a party of 8 including a baby. Patio looked large with corn hole to help entertain. Definitely a place worth checking out!

Consistently great service; always willing to adjust or substitute with no hesitation. Menu has gotten progressively stronger– the recent fish and chips special with fish chowder was incredible! We also loved the nightly special sausage and cheese dip– we ended up ordering a second one. Drink menu has some great options as well. Glad to have another solid restaurant in our little town!

My husband and I moved to anthem and were looking for a neighborhood bar to be our new place. Found rookies in Unilocal so we tried it out. The food was amazing. Not what you would think of for bar food. The catfish po’ boy was amazing and the wings were so good. The philly cheese steak my brother had was so tender. They have a ton of beers on tap(and cider which is awesome for me because I’m not a beer drinker). Aaron the bar tender was AWESOME and we got to talk to the chef Christian who was cool as hell. We will definitely be back. It was comfortable, down to earth and a place that you feel like you can walk in and everyone will know who you are. Thanks rookies! We found our bar in anthem!

Unlike the long winded and somewhat humorously offensive review of Rookies posted by James J, I will counter with this. GREATFOOD, EXCELLENTANDACCOMODATINGSTAFF, GOODBEERANDCOCKTAILS, ALWAYS A GOODTIME!!! Anyone experiencing disappointment with food or service only has to notify the staff and the matter will be rectified. This is a neighborhood sports bar and restaurant. Very family friendly all the time but for those who comment on debauchery, consider this: Should one be taking their child out to a sports bar later at night? Apparently some people think so. This is not Denny’s, folks. There may be people out at night who are intent on a party and they may not consider your family status. Rookies wings, bone in and boneless, are simply excellent, especially Dave’s Style. The Rocket burger is always cooked to perfection and is delicious. Sliders are awesome. The BLT is wonderful. Even the simple house salad, with greens and good veggies, is one of the best. I love my neighborhood sports bar. They do a great job! And, if anyone is not happy with their food or service, Christian Lowe will happily accommodate what you need. She should not be shot. LOL. James J’s review was his opinion which he is entitled to. Very descriptive. Kudos to him for creative writing. However, I note most of his reviews on Unilocal are negative. Just sayin.

Went here with my family last week, and I was not impressed. Our waitress was not the best, and forgot us several times during the visit. The food was OK, the fried pickles were the high-point. Other than that, eh.

The wife and I went on a date tonight. I thought it would be nice to go to Rookies Neighborhood Sports Grill. We haven’t been there in a while. I can’t say that it was the most pleasant of experiences. Rookies sure as taken a long slide downhill since the last time we frequented this establishment. It kind of reminds me of the Roman Empire. Started off as a good idea but ended up as a cease pool of corruption and debauchery. The evening started off all well and good but the wheels began to come off about the time the food arrived. I had ordered their cheese burger with a side of cole slaw and the wife ordered the philly cheese steak sandwich and chips. They set the plates down and I saw that there must have been two tea spoons of cole slaw in a micro bowl. Disappointing and cheap to be sure but I wasn’t going to let that get me down. I then proceeded to cut my burger in half. I was shocked to see that my medium-well burger was actually burned on the outside and almost raw on the inside. I thought maybe they were trying something new, burger al la Tartar. I thought maybe they took my hamburger and put it under the saddle of a Mongol warrior’s horse who rode around the parking lot with it for 30 minutes, who then pulled it out and slapped it on a bun. One would think that if you’re paying $ 11 for a burger it would be cooked the way you wanted. Now don’t get me started on the lettuce that was on the side. Lettuce is supposed to be firm and crisp. It was more like Ron Jeremy’s limp cock after an all-day porn shoot. I like veggies on my burger. Very disappointing. The wife’s philly cheese steak sandwich was an utter joke. What kind of culinary genius thought it would be a good idea to put minuscule squirt of Cheese Wiz on a philly. Cheese is in the name of the sandwich so you should put some on it. Pathetic. Disappointing. It took all my inner being to keep me from having a Lewis Black moment and going nuclear. The only good thing I really have to say about this restaurant and entire experience, if you can call it that anymore, is my waitress, Brooke, she was a saint. I think the good people of Anthem should grab their pitch forks and torches and storm Dr. Frankenstein’s restaurant and burn it to the ground before any other person is tricked into eating at this place. The place is worthless. Stop pretending Rookies is a restaurant. It’s not. You don’t serve food and your chief should be shot. The place is a bar. Stop acting like it is otherwise.

May 2015: Rookies has specials during certain nights of the week be sure to check those out. I’ve been twice. The first time we sat outside and it was overrun by kids. The second time we sat outside for 15 minutes and no one came out to serve us. Food is decent but service is lacking. Updated Review September 2015: I went with friends of mine in the evening around 7:45p.m. and couldn’t believe some of the music they were playing over the speakers at a public restaurant. Tons of foul language and the music was loud. I’m so glad I didn’t have my family with me. Been probably once or twice a month with friends since my last posting and tonight will definitely be the last time.

Awful food and the service almost as bad. We got some lunch for take out. The chicken tenders/nuggets were bland and soggy. We called to talk to someone about the experience and told to call back the manager was busy. When we called back at requested time manager was still busy we left number for return call, after a few more hours we tried calling again still nobody to take the call. They obviously do not care. Too bad would love to support locally owned businesses.

I spoke with one of the chefs about the beer and pairing it with food. They made some great recommendations and also had some fantastic wings! There was a local brewery there that also let me sample his beer. What a great place to bring my family and also be able to enjoy some local craft brew. I highly recommend this place, and also recommend the beer that they have to offer. Their boneless wings are fantastic, not heavily breaded, and made to perfection. What a great place and great ownership/management.

Decent place to have a few Beers and hang out. We visited this place while waiting to pick up our Son from a birthday party he attended nearby. It was very crowded the night we came here… lucky to find a couple of chairs at the end of the bar. Despite the busy night, we were served our Beers pretty quickly. They’re on top of it here. Too bad this place is in BFE. We live 40 min away… Return Factor — 60%
